I grew up taking trips with my dad and brothers to the white river. Usually we fished from Jenkins trout dock in Calico Rock. My dad as always wanted one of those really long green fiberglass flat bottom boats that many of the trout docks provide. I have had a couple aluminum boats but he has always felt most comfortable in one of these. I know that the majority of them are made by shawnee/supreme, but I can't find one anywhere. I want to know where the guides and outfitters get their boats from! Any clues or hints? Auctions? Anything?

If your willing to do the work rehabbing a used Jon, a lot of the old trout docks have a pile of worn out boats in their yard. Should cost next to nothing.

You can also look on the website. Supremeboats.com. You can choose from a Shawnee or a Supreme and have them customize your boat for you.

Keep an eye on the for sale part of this website. There is a very nice Supreme there right now. Right here is where I found the Shawnee that I now own.

I bought an old used one off craigslist and rehabbed it a bit. They are very simple and easy to work on. I have way less than 2k into mine and it fishes great. Course it's only 16ft long 31 inches wide... and a '79- so it was cheap.

Very straightforward functional boats that last a LONG time. Lots of good used boats out there that with a little TLC can be very functional at a low price or go brand new for <15K.

Good Luck with your search. Plenty of tips here about fishing the White River.

Check with Lowel Barenczky 870-405-5654 (Topwater) Rob Williams 870-404-9791(Shawnee/Supreme) Jeff Moore 870-405-4983(Xtreme) These are the guys who make most of the boats for the guides & outfitters on the White River. If you are looking for a late model river jon they will usally know someone that has one for sale. If you want a fixer-upper. Try giving Ron Gambell 870-421-4176 (Cotter trout dock) a call he has quite a few older boats out behind the dock. Any of the outfitters have older boats around. If you decide to check with these guys keep in mind that boats get sold & traded pretty often but good motors & trailers are harder to find. If you want a cheaper older complete rig Craigslist is a good place to look but be careful.

Awesome Info guys. What would be a good price to haggle with for a 16 foot, no leak, ugly glass jon with no motor, and a trailer? I've picked up a couple 14 foot aluminum jons for under $700, I hate to ever dead set low ball someone.

Oddly enough, you'd mostly have to pay more for a 16 footer than a 20 ft boat. Supply and demand. Is 16 a necessary boat length? It seems that $2000 is often a starting price on older 20 ft rigs with boat, motor, and trailer. I would assume that price boat to be fully functional with only cosmetic repairs required IF you wanted to do so.
