Hoping to get some info

I'm looking to take a 2 day float on the eleven point in the near future. Probably Greer to Riverton. It will most likely be during the week. I'm looking for fish info. I know the rainbows, smallies and goggs are there. Are there browns and are they smallies throughout the river are to they start in a certain area? Should I bring waders or is the water temp comfortable enough to wet wade. How is the bite at night?

No brown trout. Rainbows start where Greer Spring enters, about 1 mile upstream of highway 19 "Greer Crossing" and continue down to Riverton (highway 160). Smallmouth throughout, weakest where water is coldest - Greer to Turner. Some walleye downstream of Riverton. A few pike throughout.

Fine to wet wade in the summer.

Can't comment on the after dark fishing.

Greer to Riverton is a great introductory float. Mostly trout on Day 1. Mostly smallmouth Day 2. Plenty of great camping spots - choice of Forest Service campsites and gravel bars. Be sure to check out Turner Spring and Boze Mill Spring.

Levi, if you want to target smallmouth 1 day and trout the other, consider starting at Cane Bluff on day one and fish down to Greer spring, camping on the gravel bar just across from the spring and slightly upstream. Great place to camp and you can catch smallies fishing above the spring and trout just below the spring. Day 2- float 5.5 miles to Turner fishing blue ribbon trout or go another 6.5 miles to Whitten to get part of the white ribbon area. Make it a 3 day trip and continue all the way to Riverton another 8 miles. Pickerel are all along this route as well, mostly in still water, especially in weed beds. smallmouth are below Greer too, but the numbers are better the further away from the spring you get. It is awesome above the spring this year for smallmouth

Thanks, Brian. I was looking at your rental website and I don't see a put in option for Cane Bluff. Can that be accommodated? A 3 day trip sounds great. I haven't done a 3 day yet. Usually, I'm floating solo and a 2 day is enough. Especially if I've been fighting the wind.

We caught very few smallmouth between Greer and Riverton earlier this year. But the trout fishing was very very good. That's a pretty long two day float fishing in paddle craft if you ask me. We did it in a Shawnee with a 9.9 and piddled around and fished a lot. Perfect two day deal that way. Don't get me wrong, totally do-able just more than I care for.
