  1. Well, we ended up putting in at Cedar Ridge and the water was in good shape. It turns out that the water conditions where going to be the least of my concerns. When we went to get minnows, the 4 places we checked didn’t have any. We ended up calling it an early evening and headed to the house. We did fish a few bluffs on the way back with some Ned rigs and caught a handful of decent smallies. Also heard/saw a couple fellas pick up a few walleye trolling. Nathan
  2. I’m planning on taking the kids night fishing this evening and was hoping to get some insight from anyone that’s been on the water this evening. I would like to head towards the Greenfield or High Point areas but am concerned that the water will be like chocolate milk. Would anyone have any insight on where the water starts to clear up? Thank you. Nathan
  3. I am going to be fishing around the long creek area and have 2 little boys that would like to catch a few fish. I was hoping to get a few ideas of what kind of structure or bait I might need to lean towards to catch a few blue gill or anything else that might be willing to bite. We went out with a some worms this morning without any luck. Thanks for any advice you might be willing to share. Nathan p.s. Thanks BB for the advice you have already offered!
  4. Goose season isn't over???
  5. Well done indeed! I have had a good season as well. I haven't made it to Taney, but haven't had to venture far from my normal spots on Stockton, BS, and a couple of rivers. Green has been hard to come by for the most part for the guys I go with as well. Don't give up yet, there are a few days left!
  6. Thanks a ton for the helpful info!
  7. pm sent you way.
  8. I have been doing much of the same with great results as well. I hope everything is well with the family. Nathan
  9. The Crappie Magnets work also. In my opinion a company that only puts out quality products.
  10. Those magnets are amazing. The creator himself has also been on Taney and had a good time, from what I understand using the magnet exclusively. Good luck to you!
  11. I lost one some time ago . . . large Black C&F with a bunch of streamers!
  12. Well done indeed!
  13. I suppose I might have been better off posting this in the white river forum. The way the water has been running it is probably in the mighty Mississippi by now.
  14. I lost a black Scientific Anglers™ C&F Design™ M Series Fly Boxe last night and if found would greatly appreciate its return. If found I can tell all about what is inside. I was up at outlet one from about 11 - 2am and came out without it some how. The fishing was really good, but the loss of the box muted my success a great deal. Feel free to call me. Thanks Nathan 417-861-9029
  15. Just curious here, but do the underwater camera's float?
  16. O to be in Alaska!
  17. Her name is Abby. What it comes down to is we think she could live a more fullfilling life elsewhere and at the same time provide a new owner with a great dog. I wish I had the land to let her run. That's what she really needs and longs for I think. We have tried to make a city dog out of her and it probably hasn't been fair to her. Trav if you are really thinking about adopting her, I urge you to do a little research on Jack's. She was an impulse buy about 8 years ago and we knew nothing about them. They are a unique little dogs that are full of character, not to mention energy!
  18. I have never hunted her. She has come dang near catching a rabit or two in the yard but thats about the extent of her hunting experiances. I know she loves water. We have taken her to the lake a few times and have to be careful how far we throw a ball or stick. She'll stay out on the water forever if we would let her. She is very protective of the family. She sounds vicious (sp?), but when it comes down to it she is a little baby. She'll run up to you full bore, then roll on her back when you reach down to pet her.
  19. I have a free Jack Russel Terrier to a good home. She is 8 yrs old and a good dog. We have two little kids and she is really good around them. She has never bitt anyone! She is mostly house broken. We are trying to find her a good home becouse we are having a little girl and the dog already is neglected. She demands some hands on time and is really energetic. She really is a good dog that loves to run and play, we just don't have the time nor energy to put into her like we feel someone else could. Anyway, if you are interested at all feel free to email me. I will also send pics if interested. She has been pretty healthy and in good shape. She is not registered but that is only due to our lack of motivation when it came time to send in the papers. Oh, she is fixed as well. Nathan Shaw shawarchery@sbcglobal.net
  20. Well I got down to Taney last night late (approx 11:30) to fins out that I had left my flyrod at home. Well as I was getting ready Leonard came up and offered to lend me his for a while. So I took him up on it and we started fishing outlet one with no water. After catching a few just outside outlet one, we moved on down towards outlet two a little bit catching a few as we went along. The action wasn't as heavy as I would have thought that it might be but the variety of fish made up for it I suppose. I was using unweighted sculpins and I am not sure what Leonard was using. After fishing the flats a little we went on down to the big whole. When we got down there the fish were surfacing like crazy and with spinning rod in had this time we proceeded to catch a few down there. All in all it was a good trip. It was really nice seeing what the high water had done and what had or had not changed. For the most part it is the same ol' Taney just with a few modifications here and there. Anywho, here are the pics. The am only claiming the Smallie! I hope this doesn't invite every snagger out there down to Taney next year by posting these!
  21. It is a little late, but is anyone planning on going to Taney tonight? I haven't been at night in quite some time now and figured I would see if anyone else is planning a trip.
  22. Well, I finally made a point to make it down to Taney to fish some high water. When I got there about 8:00 am there were 2 units running, about an hour later I think it went to three, and then about an hour later went to 4. I fished from 8:30 to about 11:30. I was fishing just down from outlet one for most of the morning and then fished all the way down to just above outlet 2. All in all it was a good morning. I picked up aprox. 15 fish with the last hour being really slow. Most were caught on a Y2K with the others coming on several different colors of #20 sow bugs. The outstanding #'s weren't there but they were all nice fish. The smallest was a brown about 12" and the biggest (not measured) being about 18"-19" bow. All the fish I caught were really good fish averaging probably 16". A good day all in all. I have been on here long enough to hear people go on rants about other fisherman. I don't claim to know the ins and outs of flyfishing and have probably done some of the things that have been discussed on here. I can tell you that anything I have done in the past that may be considered wrong, I did them in ignorance. That is why I have probably never written nor comented on such topics. BUT, today there was a blatent issue of unsportsmanship or perhaps just plain ol' lack of being considerate. I gave out about a dozen flies today and all but one guy went on there way. One guy came over to me, I handed him the fly I was using and he proceeded to tie it on right there and then started to fish right there were I had been all morning, an arms reach away. Ignorant about the ways of flyfishing or not, I have always known better than that! Unfortunantly I can now say I understand where the fuel comes from on other rants. Frustrating indeed!
  23. 3 lb shad?Huh??? I'd like to take a look at one of those, I can't say that I have ever seen a 3+lb shad.
  24. They are a bit pricey but you might look at the Heavy-13 loads and Nitro's. I personaly like the Notro's, but they are not cheap. I prefer the 4x5x6 in a 3.5". They shoot really well out of my Remington 1187. Here is there link, it has all kinds of uselful info on it. http://www.nitrocompany.com/pattern.htm
  25. Well done indeed!
