  1. I'm going to be totally un-PC here but to quote/paraphrase a SNL skit..."Fat man in a little boat". You wonder why people make stupid decisions and in this case, multiple ones. Thank goodness you weren't dealing with a tragic outcome.
  2. [........ As Bob said before, the lake is just going to get busier and busier with time.] "Party crowd".......has it always been that way or is that a recent phenomenon? Why do you guys feel that way? Just curious.
  3. That's a cool web site, never saw that one before, thanks.
  4. Welcome raildog!
  5. I've got a buddy who spends time helping to guard his friends farm. Apparently he raises mink or some fur bearing animal. They've been attacked by PETA several times. Now I'm not into fur coats but on principles alone I'd defend the place if it was mine. The ferocity with which the PETA idiots attack makes you realize just how self-rightous the fools are. They usually trash the place.
  6. ...........cause I've been calling them sea kittens and they seem to like that better. Uh oh, Bob's going all PETA on us.
  7. I get double dinged....our atv' s are registered in Ne. but we have a cabin in Iowa and the DNR makes us 'register' them there too. It's all about the $.
  8. Roger that. What part of Nebraska are you in? We hang out @ Stockton but live in Papillion Ne. You planning on retiring @ TR?
  9. My understanding is that you register them wherever you are registered to vote. In other words your 'vacation home' usually isn't your permanent home.
  10. (Gilly, the Devils Nest doesn't ring a bell at all for olme, are you talking about the right Devils Lake, in ND?) BRAIN FART ALERT You are right. I kept reading ND and it finally dawned on me....we didn't drive that far as I remember. So I googled Devils Nest.......and it's on Lewis & Clark in South Dakota. At 56 yo I am going to be so screwed when 70 hits!
  11. Very nice. That's exactly what my youngest boy is looking to do this winter. Hasn't found a good candidate yet.
  12. Grease up to the elbows is the way I learned, seriously. The first engine I ever built was a big block Chevy. Kinda scary when you're all done and have nuts/bolts left over. But if you have the patience it's gratifying, imo, to be able to do it.
  13. He's doing really well from what I read. They customized 3 bicycles like he had in his movie to be auctioned off for charity @ Sturgis.
  14. Welcome lee!
  15. I think it was called Devils Nest. I remember it being a 'land rush' type atmosphere. South side of the lake.
  16. I remember as a teenager my folks buying 2 lots @ Devils Lake and then the developer went bellyup. Did they ever do anything with that clubhouse/marina? I would imagine if the lake is up that much they're long gone.
  17. Have you thought about vinyl? I don't know how the epoxy paint would work. I would imagine surface prep would be critical.
  18. Trav hits on a good point. The sun (ultraviolet) can destroy carpet as well paint/gelcoat. The quality of the carpet is important too. My buddy thought he'd get by cheap and used an indoor carpet, lasted two seasons and it started to degrade.
  19. Hang in there, Champ. I'm running strong on one kidney. I'll say a few prayers for you. You'll be slinging that line @ Stockton this fall for sure. On the bright side, fishing is kind of stinking right now so you won't be missing anything.....well not too much. Good luck.
  20. Real nice. We went out Saturday early until noon. The wives were cooking in the sun so back on the trailer. No keepers.
  21. Welcome, Tom. Fun place to be, lots of good info. We drive from just outside of Omaha at least once a month to Stockton so I concur whole heartily with you.
  22. Wind had to be greater than 20 (I would think) to mess up a campsite like that. It's good that all are safe. Also good to hear that the fishing is okay. We're headed to Stockton this weekend. Had a buddy just get back from Canada, lots of Walleye eating. Hope Stockton produces something for him although he's like my wife....catches fish even when everyone else struggles.

    Luke's Garden

Wondered what the chairs were for. Beer can answers that question! Very nice garden, I wish I still had that much patience. Just had our first batch of sweet corn the other night, good stuff.
  24. I thought the next line might read- Dear sirs and madams. To you I would like to deposit much money......
