  1. Huge difference! I am a 'motorhead' from that era. I can't remember that level of disrespect towards Mopars. Quite the opposite actually. Value $ them to the investor prices of today? Never saw that coming. But the car pictured above vs. a Hemi anything....apples to oranges. I don't disrespect todays' performance cars, my son had a GTO, sweet Mustang, and currently has a go-fast Subaru. All would outperform & outhandle anything I've owned but again, apples & oranges.
  2. Working on a '36 Ford sedan 2 door humpback. Doors are suicided, hump is trimmed off and laid in, chassis is done (Fatman, Pete & Jakes, 4-wheel discs). I'm stuck on the body right now. Was going to do a mild chop but after laying the hump in the new look is growing on me. Been working on it forever and my tastes are changing. Originally started out wanting a nice billet cruiser but leaning towards an old school sleeper.....looks old but everything you can't see is updated. Geez, I resemble that..........kinda..........okay, not really.
  3. I've heard great things about both of them. I was fortunate enough to be able to book Bob Bennett last year. Had a blast, fishing was great....hang onto your hat! I do know Bob is on vacation but was getting back this week.(He's helping me set up my home in Stockton as a vacation rental. As I'm finding out, Bob is a wealth of information and resources.)
  4. ugh.........I'm soooo tired of winter. Nice fish though.
  5. 4" is not enough, stay off!! I live just south of Omaha and they've been on the ice for the last 3 weekends. Drove the snowmobile out last weekend. Tip ups work well for ice fishing......however given a choice I'd rather be floating on the water instead of driving on it.
  6. Party on! and welcome.
  7. Same last weekend. We both commented on how smooth the main lake was.
  8. No...... well, yes. But then, uh, no.
  9. Not a fishing site but one that I enjoy...... http://www.amazingribs.com/index.html
  10. Oh yeah, love to pheasant hunt. We're restoring 30 acres to grasses (Mondamin IA, just north of Omaha) and it sounds awesome out there, pheasants cackling big time. One more year and I'm going to hunt it. Trying to keep the riff raff out is getting tiresome. We don't live there full time but you can see tires tracks on the property when we go up on some weekends. Didn't want to fence or post it but........ A lot of work and no respect. Pizzes me off.
  11. Roger the 'everyone is in the woods'. We went out Sunday for a very short time and had only one boat get close to us. Caught a few keeper crappie, walleye, whites, released them all as that was the plan. Wife got cold so we motored back early.
  12. Good question. I had a chance to fish with Bob Bennett and we ran by a few docks too. He said the same thing, they were 'grandfathered'. What that means exactly I'm not certain. Did the docks exist on the rivers prior to the lake? Edit:Thanks, Straw. I was typing this and watching election results so it took me awhile.
  13. Welcome, T. If you've been hanging around for any length of time you already know it's a decent place. Like you I took a time out from fishing and I'm back loving it!!
  14. Bummer, Straw. Hope the release of your brother from his pain will help you with yours. Peace my friend.
  15. My wife and I have been involved with Scouting for a lot of years, both of our sons are Eagle Scouts. I was a scoutmaster for years, my wife and I still are committee members. Some of the best cooking experiences we had and still have are Dutch oven. Even at home I'll fire up the grill and put the Dutch oven in it...... just because. I use to challenge the scouts and we'd have a cooking campout, Dutch ovens and cardboard box cooking were the only allowed 'appliances'. Some of those meals were darn good. (Another way to clean an oven when you need to be a bit more aggressive is with salt.)
  16. On a positive note, 71 south of KC @ least to Nevada is a pretty decent stretch. 32 into Stockton can get a little tight when pulling a trailer. They've indicated that will never change. Regards a state project engineer not listening, I had the same thing happen in NDOR. Told them the foundation design was faulty for some structures, they didn't listen. No sooner had we installed as per their specs the darn foundations started cracking. It was the biggest 'I told you so' I've witnessed. A simple modification up front would have saved a butt load of embarressment.

Bummer. I had to come back to Omaha late last night. My wife and sons are still fishing Stockton. Just talked to them. Fish are hitting mostly red colors. Bite is light. My son had to chuckle. A small walleye hit him, "Stupid fish was smaller than the spoon." It's all good!
  18. Also depends on how old the dish is. Had to change the dish @ our cabin. Receiver was too new, dish was way old. Wouldn't think that would make a difference but it did.

My sons hit the water yesterday, north end, launched @ Orleans. Two keeper walleye, three large mouth, bunches of shorts, all released. Today we all hit the water out of Ruark. Bunches of shorts, crappie, walleye, bluegill. A lot were sooooo close. Most importantly my grandson caught his first fish. A bluegill that wiggled the heck out of his pole! "I caught one, I caught one!" Reeled it in like a pro and darn near cast it right back out. "Wait, wait, wait" grandma said, " we need a picture!" Too funny and much fun had by all.
  20. Speaking of attacks...... Would that fall under Boobie Traps?
  21. Now I can legitimately go to Victoria's Secrets (always thought it should be plural)! Who would have thought it was a health store?
  22. Gobbler, sent you a message.
  23. Thank you for the info. I've got a 998 and I've got the 'turn on thingy' figured out pretty well. Interpreting the shadows is kicking my butt. When I'm not fishing I play with it but that's not often.
  24. E We have a place on Owen Mill Road, we usually launch @ Hawker or State Park. The 6th looks the best according to your schedule. I'll call. Gil
  25. Crappy eyesight I guess but I thought Zac was building a 58 foot boat.....ark if you will. Far be it for me to suggest anyone here is 'ancient'.....I'm anything but a youngster myself.
