  1. My buddy owns a car lot. He has detail guys that every have kind of wax and buffer possible. They have a mix of compound and wax that works great on cars. I just a feeling that the acid would eventually wear down the gel coat. That acid does miracles on the jack plate. Looks brand new after you spray that on there. Algae just sluffs right off.
  2. My boat is white and has a slight green stain all around it. Probably looks good from a distance but up close you can see it. Just wondering if it’s deeper than just the surface
  3. I have read about different methods to do this. I use acid but I’m afraid it is going to eventually hurt my gel coat. Will waxing with compound work? Just curious what you guys suggest. Thanks
  4. I watched the weigh-in. Harvey was pumped up. Good for him. Nice guy.
  5. I’m interested to see what he used. At weigh in he said he caught that LM on a Rock Crawler. Didn’t say what color but did mention the fish wrapped around a tree which makes me think steep banks were close. Be happy to see King win it as well. He has had a rough few years.
  6. Everyone I talked to that fished today said it was tough.
  7. Several guys said they were sight fishing for spawners. What area would that be? Up the rivers?
  8. Yep RB. It will be the consistent guys that flourish. The lake is changing by the day. Maybe by the hour. The guys that can adjust the quickest will benefit.
  9. It can be tough being in the back. Who you draw and how they fish can determine a lot.
  10. I know a handful of co-anglers in there. One is 28th,5th and another was late and didn’t get to weigh. I text Meador yesterday to congratulate him on his day. I was watching the weigh in live. That announcer mis pronounced his last name. Quill? Do you know if Meador was fishing with Bohannan yesterday? They came on stage one after another. Didn’t see the pairings.
  11. I’m with you Bill. I’m not sure McClelland will catch 19lbs but he will be around 15-16lbs the next two days and that will probably get him the win.
  12. There is an app if you have a smart phone. If not you can go to FLW.com
  13. That is funny. Saw that picture not too long ago.
  14. If you can find grass on Lake Fork anymore I’d make sure and have a rattle trap type bait and rip it through the grass. Hard to beat red color. I’m sure a big ole worm Texas rigged would work too. Not sure on colors they prefer down there.
  15. I see both sides Smallie. Not banging on you personally. I’m sure your a good person just like all the others I’ve met in here. I’d be fine with doing MLF style. I just don’t think it will happen on a larger scale because people love weigh-ins. Until they do I’ll have to keep participating the way it is. All I and others can do is educate on fish care and conserving our resources. They are starting to do this on Grand lake right now. There has been a slow gradual decline in size weighed in at tournaments. Local fishermen and GRDA had a meeting about it and are beginning to take measures to improve the lake. I don’t think that the powers to be care as much as we do. Unfortunately.
  16. Funny you mentioned this. A small group of us have been trying the MLF model and doing small tournaments. Just trying to figure out how to do it on a larger scale and keep people honest at the same time.
  17. A lot of these tournaments are during off peak times of the year. There is a reason hotels are easy to find in late winter and early spring. I’m not arguing the fact that people need to spend local. I sure wouldn’t begrudge someone for doing it. When folks come from out of town to fish they are more than likely going to be prepared before they get there. That being said they are still going to go to the local shop for terminal Tackle, line , oil etc. I’m sure local boat shows get extra business when someone breaks something and needs help. I never said communities need tournaments, but I’m sure they don’t have a negative impact either. Cities bid millions to host tournaments. It’s a fact that the big circuits bring in revenue. Not sure about the smaller ones though.
  18. If you aren’t spending every dollar you spend locally then this is a hypocritical statement. If you are that’s great. I find it hard to believe anyone could nowadays. I can’t get on to people spending their hard earned money how they wish.
  19. I buy local as much as I can. Only time I go elsewhere is if they don’t have want I at the time and won’t be getting it anytime soon.
  20. I hate that you feel that way Vernon. I fish tournaments quite a bit. I’m not like those guys you mentioned, but unfortunately I know the behavior you are describing. A good friend of mine sells boats and he hates dealing with those guys. He calls them Bassholes. Ha. I like the competition aspect. To see how I stack up. Here lately not so good. It is a double edged sword. They bring money to the community, but sometimes it’s at a cost.
  21. I was back there on Tuesday and didn’t see any schools on my graph. Didn’t get any bites. Started catching them when we got close to the ramp area.
  22. Nice! I tried sending you a message Quill. It said you can’t receive messages. Any idea why?
  23. Sounds like a challenge. Ha
  24. Babler does this for a living so I will never question a thing he says. It’s personal preference to a certain extent. If someone believes they catch more with a certain line size or type I say go with it. Confidence is everything.
  25. I forgot to mention how I was advised to tie on the leader. I’m using a double uni knot. When you tie it loop one side one more time than the other. I do 5 on one side 4 on the other. I’ve had no issues since I’ve started doing this.
