I was talking to someone about rods the other day. All the blanks are made in about 3 factories outside the U.S. One is in Mexico and one is in China. Although they make a multitude of different quality of rods a lot of these rods that are in a certain price range are more than likely the same blank with different paint jobs. A lot of price differences come with the cork and the guides as well. I think we would all be amazed at how many things we use are made in China and Mexico.
If the lake wasn't poop brown they would probably be in Prarie Creek right now. I haven't seen any signs of them this year other than seeing a Striper Guide here and there. Caught that one last February in Monte Ne.
There is a small lake called Elmdale lake west of Springdale that has a bunch of vegetation. If the frog bite dies off I will get a 1 oz weight and drop it through the mats. It's a fun way to fish.
When we started fishing ponds about 8-9 years ago a buddy of mine sent a 6lb class bass to the Taxidermist. Made me sick. I told him to let it go and he wanted no part of it.
It was built up to be a trophy bass fishery. I figured he would catch a big one but we all know that rarely happens. I just wonder why he is so vague about the locale? Most of the time they tell you. Maybe he knows some local guides and wanted to do the show but not give up where it is. I'm sure there is a reasonable answer.
I'm with ya. I bought my first boat around the same age. Upgraded once. Went from a 91 Ranger 492v to an 07 Skeeter 20i. It now has 210 hrs on it. I don't see a need to buy another one for a long time. I would much rather upgrade electronics, add power poles etc...
I'm somewhat guilty of buying higher end rods. I'm trying to get everything down to Falcon and Loomis rods when I can afford them. My main reason is warranty and quality of build. It's nice hearing about people doing well on lower end stuff. It puts things in perspective.
I listened to the Bass Edge podcast the other day with Russ Lane. He thought that the Spinnerbait would make a comeback this year on the Elite Tour. Champ. You were Country when Country wasn't Cool.
Could be a Pro getting ready for the Clasic. Buddy of mine knows Jason Christie's fishing partner and they mentioned trying to find a lake with some cleaner water. I'm sure he isn't the only one since all the Oklahoma lakes are high and dirty.
Shoot me a message when you are ready. I have several friends who wholesale vehicles that would sell you a truck under market value. Let me know the make, model and equipment and I will keep my eyes open.
In my opinion. Mid 40's is where I really start tossing it. Water has been hovering around 50 here at Beaver. They just don't seem to want it yet. This cold front will probably put them in the mood.
