You can probably catch them any way you want. They are in a biting mood right now. I fished Beaver today and had 11.84 lbs up in the river. 20 lbs was caught up by the dam and lots of good sacks in between were caught mid lake. I used crankbaits, drop shot and flipped a jig into cover. I heard drop shots and even jerkbaits were used on the lower end. Great time to be on the water.

Those days of sending a rod back that someone broke are over. If it's not a manufacturing defect you got a 50/50 shot at getting it replaced. I thought I was getting a lifetime free replacement when I bought my G.Loomis. I recently broke the tip off( totally my fault) and had it sent off to get replaced. I was told it really depends on their mood. Unfortunately the didn't cover it but I had the option to pay $95 to replace it with a new one. That's a whole lot less than retail price so naturally I bought it.
This practice is becoming more prevalent due to idiots intentionally breaking rods just to get new ones. I know a guy who runs a tackle shop and he said he had a customer who would break his rods right in front of him. He would break them when seasons would change. Instead of having multiple rods he would just break one and replace it with whatever type the season called for. People like him ruined for the good honest people.
Enough on my rant. Falcon rods are fantastic.
I have Lowrance and like them just fine. It does appear that Hummingbird has a clearer picture. The one advantage is that the Lss lets you have Si on multiple units. So it might cost you less in the long run. They also have those backbone connection cable that you can plug into your motor to have your unit display fuel consumption, rpm etc... I'm sure HB has that as well. Not sure though.
I fished out of Holiday Island for about 4-5 hrs on Sunday morning. I guess the topwater bite was already gone. I tried for a while with a few swipes but no bites. I could see bait and fish all over my graph but couldn't get bit on a drop shot til the sun got high. I tried more natural colors but they weren't producing much so I switched to a dark bluish/purple color and finally started catching fish. Caught about 10-15 with by best being the only LM I caught for about 2-2.5 lbs. the rest were KY. Had to get home to watch Chiefs and Royals lose so I left around 11:45.
