Never fished streamers but thats on my list for this fall! Nice Brown!!
  4. Thankyou!
  5. Don't know I'd call it a gimmick...Pinkel 's had a pretty good run of it. Been a MU fan for 35 yrs and u prolly don't remember the Warren Powers days and other bad memories. Our offense can play with anyone as long as we have a healthy backfield to keep the defens honest. It's our defense I think may take a lil while to catch up.
  6. Give us a couple years and we'll be just fine. Tired of beatin the "Stinkbirds" anyways. Lookin forward to establishing the rivalry with the "Hogs" M I Z.....Z O U !!
  7. Got the last of mine tied up this weekend. Just waitin on eyes.
  8. 2 down 8 to go. (but I'll make more if more get in) Sounds like I'm gonna have to get a new rod to throw some of these monsters. What a shame!
  9. What a hog! Beeeeaaauuutiful fish! Congrats to all. Now I got my boys buggin me to go back down to taney soon. Guess I'll have to give in on this one!
  10. We have WINNER. or at least I agree the magic word is money! You put money and DNR together, and reasoning and common sense go out the window. We were there last weekend and between 5 of us caught probably around 500 trout. Lots of short and chunky fish. Like they had been gorged but not let to grow any length. Caught 1 16.5" (measured), another real close to that and a 5 or 6 14-15". Not much for size considering the numbers. Not like it would of been 10 yrs ago. I'm afraid "those were the good 'ol days"!
  11. Never heard it called pearl but Idylwilde's pic is the same as one of our top produceing c-backs.
  12. and kick out ur wife!
  13. Laker67 I figure with this heat it shouldnt be too crowded. Got a couple new flies I'm anxious to try. Hope the dry flyin's good. Ought to be about hopper time!
  14. Nobody, Anybody???
  15. Brian talked me into it. Put me in!! Ought to be fun.
  16. Headin down for a quick trip this weekend. How's the crowds been?? How's the fly fishin been? Anyone doin good on dry flies?
  17. Yep wrench, with the gov't what gets "greased" on one side isn't necessarily what gets "greased" on the other side. If it quits smokin though they for sure won't fix it! Don't know the real answer but doin nothin won't fix it. Discourageing I know!
  18. I've been going to Bennett for 15 yrs and my wife 30 yrs. We've discussed this before and agree it has declined. While the park is for all anglers, whether experienced or beginers, our passion runs at different levels. They try to cater to all and we all know that "one size fits all" usually isn't good for some. Unfortunately my observation is that we as the passionate experianced anglers are out numbered and division or difference of opinion amongst us may be our demise. We must stand together and make our desires heard. While many times we think it falls on deaf ears the seed must be planted. Sometimes it dies but if we continue to water it, it may just grow. In government, "if the wheel don't squeak it ain't gonna get no grease"!! I like the idea of desininated C&R zones as someone else suggested. At least that would keep the people from parkin their lawn chair right behind you and might keep that beginner from planting himself 5 feet from you because your catchinh fish. Wow! I'm off my soapbox now. Let's go out and "win one for the Gipper" !!
  19. Brian, Don't wait on us as the 5 hour drive is a killer!! Q and I are looking forward to another night trip though, and a couple of others that r lookin forward to another trip. Be sure and let us know how the fishing was though!!
  20. I agree. Very nice read. Just a shame to get the Readers Digest version. Thanks!!
  21. Also want to say thanks to Carolyn at River Run Outfitters for the last minute cabin as well as the fishin advice. The cabin was great and the hospitality unmatched. Thanks again!!
  22. Spent over a week at the spring with the family (less 2 days fishin Taneycomo) and caught tons of fish. Size seemed better than recent years past. Both my boys(12 and 15) have both developed into fine fly fishermen. Makes a Dad feel proud when my 12 year old grabbed my rod and could double hull to the far bank and I couldn't. Anyway.....caught lots and lots of trout. Spent most of the time in zone 2 stripping cracklebacks and soft hackles. Also learned how to fish a dry beatle. It was a blast and the trout tore them up. Spent a couple late afternoons and evenings from the rock bluff and up and hardly had anybody in sight. Only disappointing part was not much hatch so dry flyin was pretty slow but the strippin made up for it. Probably picked 2 of the busiest weekends with free fishin the first weekend and Fathers Day the second. Stream was pretty crowded on the weekends but nice through the week.
  23. Made our first family trip to Taney last week. There will be many more on the planner in the future! We had a great time flyfishing all day Tuesday, Tuesday night for a couple hours and most all day Wed. Both my boys (12 and 15) caught a lot of fish with the younger one catching his personal best of approx 3 lbs and another one just a little smaller. My wife caught lots of fish and even I caught some too (3 Tuesday night which was really cool!! Didn't know I could cast so good in the dark where no one can see. LOL). We were priviledged enough to get to fish with Brian Shaffer and had a great time. Thanks Brian for taking the time to show us the area and fishing with us. We're all better fly fisherman than before fishing with you. Hate to think how many trips we would have to make to learn what we learned from you in two short days. You know you're having a good time when the boys decided they would rather fish the last day there than go ride the go-carts and hit the strip!! They would rather be stripping flys!!!!
  24. Yo Mic, We'll be sure and try that. I love throwing anything dry just to see the take. Matter of fact I'm usually the only one left in the stream in the evening when the whistle blows still throwing a dry hopeing for that one last take!
  25. HolyMoly!!! Beautiful fish. Congrats!! Does it have a splitt in the tail or is that just the pic? Gives me something to dream about till we get down there next week. I'm sure my friend thats going to show us the ropes down there will have no problem putting us on multiple fish like that! LOL JK. Once in a lifetime fish. Congrats again!!
