  1. Big time fun! Is it tough to balance the kyak while fishing? Never been in one.
  2. Just remembered next weekend is fathers day and think I'll fix him up a fly box with your all's help. Thanks.
  3. Great to see the kids with smiles. Love to see events promoting our sport to the young'uns. Wish we would've been down there. Nice fish too!!
  4. Need some direction from you spinning fisherman experts. My father will be coming to Bennett to fish with us in a couple weeks. He's a very good lifelong bass and crappie fisherman. I need some suggestions on what he should throw in zones 1 & 2 with his ultralight spinning rods. We just fly fish those zones. We tie flies but just didn't know what to fix up for him .Thanks for the help.
  5. Don't know that these golden spoon fed boys can handle George. Sure hope it works though.
  6. Yea.. the mad hungarian at least would get ya fired up!! 6 weeks is still longer than we're used to. Shame so many drank the kool-aid! Pretty hard to raise kids that are royals fans.
  7. We visited my wifes brothers family that was camping at a local state park this past weekend. Wife had to take her new flyrod outfit and show it off to her brother. Place has a pond so we decided to take the 3 nephews ages 7,6 and 4 to see if we could catch some fish. People fishing all around but no one catching anything. We broke out the flyrod and got multiple stares like we were crazy. About an hour later and 2 bass and 3 perch brought to hand it got dark on us. Those 3 boys had a blast reelin in those fish. I'm gonna have to see if I can get their dad to send me the pics and I'll try to post. What a great time!!
  8. Optimism for the boys in blue was short lived ......again!
  9. Looks like a cool trip.Sounds like if you waited any later in the spring it'd be super tough to get around. Enjoyed the pics!!
  10. Found 7 all greys. Ate 7 all greys!!
  11. DaddyO, neat pic. That McGinty sure seems to work. Big gils r a blast on the fly. Too muddy to get to the pond right now.
  12. Here's a better look.
  13. Not necessarily aesthetically attractive to humans but the fish didn't seem to mind. The top right and bottom fly seemed to produce best. Bottom is worn down from fish.
  14. Improved McGinty. Found it in an article by Tom Keith at warmwaterflyfisher.com Worked good. The bass was on what I call a magic leech. A pattern I tie for trout.
  15. 4 hours from trout so had to improvise a little. Had fun for about 30 minutes then the wind really picked up. Gonna like this part of the forum. Thanks
  16. Pats I'm sure is more durable. I tie individual black, rust, and olive as well as combining. I don't wrap just tie on in clumps on top side of shank, thus the mohawk name. The black and rust alternated seem to work great in the muddy stained water. The olive works great with sinking leader in holes. Also weighted with 8 or 10 wraps of wire. If your catchin fish mine don't last long. Although was catchin them with over 1/2 the maribou gone one time. Think I'll try some like Pats counter wraped with wire. May be goin down Sunday. i understand they got .61" rain yesterday.
  17. yep, he called it a mohawk leech. 4 or 5 clumps of marabou tied down the top side of shank. Easy, no technique, no talent needed.
  18. We were advised by a local to tie up some rust and black colored leeches a couple years ago during the flood. Caught good fish in the stained wtaer swingin and strippin into the clearer water. Pretty fun as no one else wanted to fish the stained water!!
  19. Probly won't change em but might make em think next time.I once asked a guy that pulled that on me how long he planned on fishin cause i would like to get back to fishin where I WAS fishin. He just looked at me so i just sat down on the bank and waited about 10 minutes and he moved on. I've also beenknown to ask the person that wants to rub elbows with me" if you want this spot I can move". Never had anyone ask me to move.
  20. Thanks for your post and blog. Very enjoyable for a poor sap that is just 50 miles north of K.C. but can't get away. Joe's a luck fella!!
  21. No new info. HMMMMMM! Sure would like to see a pic of a Missouri Monster like that!
  22. Couple real nice ones there. Bonus to catch the browns.
