  1. I would go with an Optima M24 12v deep cycle battery. You could use an M27 but that will weigh more. Since that boat is so small, the M24 should do just fine.
  2. At least you're learning something in school over there.

    How Long?

Not sure if the fish will have spawned yet or not. I haven't taken a temp reading down there. The gage at the Buffalo says the water is about 60° now, but it was higher, and CC normally follows that as in past experiences. If the fish did already spawn before this flood, or were in the process, you can bet there's a years worth of effort washed away.
  4. I posted this in response to what Cricket had mentioned over on the Shoal Creek thread with the one nut packin' a pistol.
  5. They ain't good for anything. I'll give you $25 + postage to take it off your hands.

    How Long?

Having crossed CC at Harrison today, I seriously doubt that the creek will be fishable nor floatable this weekend.
  7. Trial begins in Ozark County murder case The trial of a man accused of shooting to death a former Norfork resident began Monday at Lebanon, Mo. Jesus Sesena-Murrieta, 29, is on trial for second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of 22-year-old Alonzo Foster Jr. The bench trial began Monday in Laclede County Circuit Court in Lebanon, circuit clerk officials said. The charges originally were filed in Ozark County, Mo., but the case was transferred on a change of venue motion. In a bench trial, the case is presented to the judge without a jury. Read this entire story in the Tuesday, April 26, 2011 print edition of The Baxter Bulletin. (Quoted Below.) "Murrieta was arrested after he shot Foster, of Ash Flat and formerly of Norfork, on July 20, 2008. The day of the shooting, Foster was swimming with family and friends in Lick Creek in the Mammoth, MO area. "In a September 2008 preliminary hearing, witnesses testified the group was trespassing on private property and was asked to leave. "Family members said they had gone swimming in the crek hundreds of times. After they agreed to leave, Sesena-Murrieta, the son-in-law of the property owner, allegedly pulled out a .38-caliber revolver and shot Foster four times. Another witness said Sesena-Murrieta and Foster had a verbal exchange before the shooting. "Sesena-Murrietta, who turned himself in to authorities, told police that people were coming at him and were going to kill him, according to a statement read at the preliminary hearing. "Foster died at Baxter Regional Medical Center about six hours after the shooting, according to testimony at the hearing."
  8. No outfitter should have let anyone on the river. That's just asking for it. If an outfitter let someone use their equipment under those conditions and somebody died, I'm sure the outfitters insurance company would have balked at paying any liability. And no court in any land will uphold a sign off on liability when one person is the expert and allowed it to happen.
  9. Didja offer to sell her some hackles for $25 a piece?
  10. If an outfitter put them on the water they should be sued and put out of business. That is just downright irresponsible since we all knew the rain was coming. If I know it's gonna rain like it did, I stay away. If all they are predicting is a 10-20% chance of rain with little or no accumulations, I will go but not on a float. That predction could change at a moments notice. Always gotta be aware of the weather out there. Growing up near Lake Michingan, I learned to never trust the weather when on the water. The wind could change and the waves will be up several feet in a heart beat.
  11. The last time I checked, Bull Shoals was 20' over power pool and about 10' from the top of flood pool. I would imagine they are going to have to start dumping water pretty soon to make room for what's coming out of Taney and Table Rock. Norfork was 21' over power pool and with the turbines down, there's no telling what' gonna happen there but best guess is they are dumping water. I drove up to Pigeon Creek on Norfork earlier today and the area is closed due to flooding and the water is mud brown.
  12. I walked into Blue Ribbon Fly Shop here in Mt. Home lask week and they had few if any necks/saddles left. I was also shocked to see the price on the Whiting 100 packs at over $22!! Last time I bought one was a couple years ago and they were only about $11.
  13. Oh please. I was just getting started when Phil stepped in and asked to shut it down. Which I thought pretty nice of him instead of waking up to a big red X.
  14. Supposed to get more rain tonight. Wonder if those two knuckleheads will try a stunt like that again anytime soon.
  15. But the article in the link was talking about the levee breaking.
  16. That's what I have been saying from ther start!!
  17. Wish the horn at Norfork was that loud.
  18. The breaks that GE gets so they can send American jobs overseas are just as outrageous as the oil company pork from the left.
  19. Geez... And I thought what I was gonna say would have been too blunt.
  20. Nope. Don't know anybody who lives on a flood plain.
  21. First thing that came to mind when I started reading the article. Although I can't agree on going to Chicago.
  22. "When The Levee Breaks" If it keeps on rainin', levee's goin' to break, [X2] When The Levee Breaks I'll have no place to stay. Mean old levee taught me to weep and moan, [X2] Got what it takes to make a mountain man leave his home, Oh, well, oh, well, oh, well. Don't it make you feel bad When you're tryin' to find your way home, You don't know which way to go? If you're goin' down South They go no work to do, If you don't know about Chicago. Cryin' won't help you, prayin' won't do you no good, Now, cryin' won't help you, prayin' won't do you no good, When the levee breaks, mama, you got to move. All last night sat on the levee and moaned, [X2] Thinkin' about me baby and my happy home. Going, going to Chicago... Going to Chicago... Sorry but I can't take you... Going down... going down now... going down....
  23. I don't think "my" political views are flawed at all. They are my opinions and I cannot find fault with them or else I would not think them. Yet you show no indifference to calling a "liberal" a "commie" or "socialist" although you say these "comies" and "socialts" were great men. Then if you lump them all together, "liberal/communist/socialist" they are all great men?
  24. NEWS FLASH House Speaker John Boehner said Monday he’s prepared to consider curbing long-standing tax breaks used by oil and gas companies as part of the effort to cut the federal budget deficit, signaling a softening of the Republican position on the issue. “It’s certainly something we should be looking at,” Mr. Boehner said in an interview with ABC World News. “We’re in a time when the federal government’s short on revenues. They ought to be paying their fair share." Mr. Obama and congressional Democratic leaders have repeatedly called for the ending the tax subsidies for large energy firms. Limiting or ending these tax breaks could generate between $20 billion and $45 billion in savings over 10 years, Democrats have said. Democrats sought to put some of the oil industry tax breaks on the table during recent budget negotiations. But they dropped the issue in the face of Republican opposition.
