  1. I didn't know that. I thought they were designed as topwater flies. I guess no matter how long you've been tying or fly fishing, you still learn something new every day.
  2. Thanks for the tips. Have a great time out there and don't forget to post a report.
  3. Yeah. That's what I thought about the "strippers."
  4. Nope, Spelled arse correctly. But you did misspell whoops. You should listen to your own words of wisdom about hiding behind a keyboard.
  5. I guess you're about to be called a "JERK" for posting that line about the smut and Viagra. Some people don't like wise cracks like that around here. Normally I would wear waders when wading just for the purpose of all the stuff in the streams. But, it's just too dang hot out for them now. I'll take my chances. And, I don't pee in streams. Mmmmmmmm... leeches. Bass, trout, walleyes and other fish love them. Put em on a hook and hang on!
  6. That should read "She may be the ugliest woman I have ever saw in the world."
  7. Yeah! Nice fish! So where exactly is this "Menomonie"? I know there is a Lake Menomin in Menomonie, WI and was just wondering cuz I've heard of big slabs being pulled from there. Never fished it cuz it was too far upstate for a daily drive and fish and drive home. The largest crappie I ever caught was an 18 incher from Lake Norfork.
  8. Make things a little easier on yourself. Unless you are trying to tie up some realistic flies, try wrapping a hackle for the legs, or tie in some rubber strands for legs. You could also use some lead or lead substitute wrapped along the body to help it get to the bottom. Here's link to how Harry Murray ties his helgramites. Simple and effective. Tying Murray's Hellgrammitte
  9. Okay but do us all a favor and not relieve yourself in the streams.
  10. Well now ya got me wondering if they make those for fly tying.
  11. Now that was just gross. Thanks for ruining my dinner.
  12. I once hooked a northern pike and got it into the net. Using a crankbait with trebel hooks of course. The pike started thrashing around and those trebel hooks got all caught up in the net. Now the fish is stuck in the net and thrashing around as I reach down to undo the hooks from his jaw. Let me tell you, pike have some very sharp teeth. I eventually got the pike free and released him. Then it came time to get the crainkbait out ot the net. Since the point of the hooks penetrated the mesh past the barb, I ended up with even more bloody finges. If I had crimped down the barbs of the hooks, I could have gotten the hooks free a lot easier. Crimping the barbs also helps when you have to remove hooks from your skin. It is less painful for you (and the fish) just pulling the hook out rather than pushing the hook through or using the line method.
  13. Sorry to hear about your hand. Being a fly tyer, I have jabbed a hook into my fingrs quite a few times and know how it feels. I use Tiemco hooks almost exclusively. I think they are some of the sharpest hooks I have ever tied on. And that reminds me. I have to get at the tying bench and tie up some flies for somebody.
  14. Thanks for the info. I don't usually fish for trout. In fact, it's been almost 5 years since. Mostly I like fishing for smallies. Looking at the Google map around Tecumseh after my original post, I seen the accesses for Blair and Patrick. I just didn't know what species I would find there until your reply. Where is the upper end of the North Fork? Kinda hard to follow on Google Maps. Where is Bryant Creek? Does Sunburst Ranch do shuttles and or canoe/kayak rentals?
  15. No. Thank you. I almost spit my soda all over my computer screen reading your post. It's nice to know someone here enjoys some of my smart butt comments.
  16. Hmmmm... I must be going blind. I didn't see one tattoo in that picture.

    Amy Lee

I just love it when the religious zealots interpret something to be what they want it to be. Amy Lee quotes; We've never been a religious band, but the media wants us to be.” There are people hell-bent on the idea that we're a Christian band in disguise, and that we have some secret message. We have no spiritual affiliation with this music. It's simply about life experience.” “I'm not ashamed of my spiritual beliefs, but I in no way incorporate them into this band.”
  18. There was a failure at the pumping station in Marble Falls which was dumping raw sewage into Mill Creek. Mill Creek runs through Dogpatch and eventually empties out just downstream of the Pruitt access. The National Park Service was supposed to put postings up at the accesses downstream of there to warn people of possible health risks. I haven't been keeping up with this story, but the last time I heard, Marble Falls had no idea when they would be able to fix it because they were "broke."
  19. Well, I guess you have to like tattoos to enjoy some of those sexy tatt's. I really don't mind tattoos at all (I do have a few) or peircings (of which I have none). If some girls do it right, they look good to me.
  20. I guess that if they (fans of Nelly) tear up the town, then Branson will have learned their lesson and stick to shows like Yakov where the audience is more or less falling asleep instead of getting rowdy.
  21. So how does a fly with a "lip" cast? I would imagine it would twist the leader pretty bad.
  22. Grab a Snickers.
  23. When ya get to be an old man of 50+ and you've been with the same woman for umpteen years, a hardbody with or without tattoos is still a nice thing to look at. And some of those tramp stamps do look kinda sexy.
  24. I've been wanting to go up to MO and fish the North Fork River for some time now, but I'm not sure where to go. I've been thinking of trying around Tecumseh. Anybody have any ideas of where to fish there and what kind of fish I could expect?
  25. Man, you are missing out on so much great fishing now if all you're doing is chasing little white balls around with a stick.
