  1. It was brought up at the North Akansas Fly Fishers meeting this month to possibly look into some sort of one fly competition. I'll try to keep everyone posted on that. Meetings are held every third Tuesday of the month. NAFF web site.
  2. Dang it!! The vans body work is pissing me off (although it's coming out pretty good.) I should have gone with ya. Next itme, I'm in.
  3. Must be some sort of pollutant in the water that causes that.
  4. Excuse me. .0350 is just over 1/32" and 5/16 is .3125. I was just checking because your statement said the hook gap was .0350. I assume you were talking inches here and not decimeters. Anyway, a 1/4" gap on a jig hook is probably the smallest anyone would want if they were expecting to hook any fish bigger than a bluegill. Although a size 20 TMC 101 dry fly hook has a gap of about .085" and they catch a lot of trout.
  5. .0350 of an inch? That's just over a 1/16 inch. That gap size probably wouldn't hook a minnow.
  6. I'm gonna have to remove you guys from my freinds list if you don't pm me to go along next time.
  7. Janns Netcraft has blank molds that allow you to machine to your specks for $31.39 each. The smallest round head molds they have is 1/64" and cost $38.99 for two molds. These come with 4 different sizes in each mold. Check out Janns Netcraft molds here. You can check out Stamina molds here.
  8. I'm always looking for a jig with a decent hook size and a lighter head than available. I'm thinking I may have to buy a Bridgeport Mill and make my own molds. Anybody got a used but decent Bridgeport laying around they want to get rid of cheap???? Anybody got a Bridgeport that wants to get into the jig mold business????
  9. I would imagine you will eventually buy a vise and start tying hair jigs and feather jigs as I did. Eventually that will lead to fly tying, and if you're not already into it, fly fishing. It's a long expensive road but well worth it. Good luck to you.
  10. That yak sure is looking nice!! Do you have a weight estimate on that yet?
  11. Check with your local fly shop. Blue Ribbon Flies in Mountain Home is selling tiny little jigs in that size range. They may be a little bigger like size 16-12. Of course they are not selling molds, just the jigs. They run somewhere around 1/100 to 1/60 of an ounce. Otherwise check with Janns Net Craft or Stamina Products. A Google search should get you to their web sites.
  12. I'm stuck at home doing body work on my van and you guys tease me with this? Shame on both of you. But at least you had fun...
  13. I thought you'd change your mind.
  14. Watch the rear windows of the cars that you pass up or pass you. I have a sticker on the back window of my van.
  15. I'll leave the yak at home and stay dry in your canoe. Can I bring the flyrod and sit up front??????
  16. That is a cool bird. My dad has about 20 hummingbirds that frequent his feeders every day. They go through nearly a gallon of water a day. And guess who gets to fill the feeders when they take off on vacation.
  17. And you talk about me??? You're gonna get a crankbait in the back of your head.
  18. Don't be surprised if you find 50 boats on your water tomorrow.
  19. Could be. I was wearing my lucky hat when we fished the White River. I was wearing my lucky hat when I went fishing on Crooked Creek the other day. I might wear it tomorrow.
  20. Wool head sculpins?
  21. For this reason I choose poly lenses. If you fly fish, that fly can be moving at over 100 mph. You don't want it hitting glass lenses. Nor do you want to be wearing glass lenses and miss a hookset or rip your lure off a snag and have that lead jig coming directly at your face. All safety glasses are made of poly for a reason.
  22. Didn't get up that far.
  23. Wasn't too bad but it was a lot lower than when we went through. Might be a lot of dragging. I only went up a few hundred feet above the bridge wading. A canoe could get through there if it wasn't loaded down. Not sure about the other shoals up or down creek. ps. just killed one on the garage door.
  24. I stayed up all night last night backing up my computer so I decided to go fishing before the sun come up and the roosters started to make noise. I went to Yellville and had a little fun. These are the biggest fish I caught today, mostly on a Tiny Torpedo. The big one really surprised me. He was in about 6 inches of water and nailed the Torpedo when it hit the water. I forgot to get a measurement on it before letting it go. Best guess is in the 16-17 inch range. Almost lost him as he bulldogged into a snag by the bridge. I was lucky enough to get him out and away from the brush so I could get a good look at him (her?)
