  1. Does anyone have a good guess at the distance from the Snow Access to Kelley's Slab?
  2. Ham will tell you ONE of the biggest advantages is that it is better in the wind. Funny thing about wind following the course of a river ; Wind NOT just for lakes anymore. Ham will also say that he can store his rods inside his yak and they are safe even if his yak gets rolled by a class III. And scupper holes mean that you never swamp your boat and have to stop and get the water out of it. I like a wave train breaking over the bow. Fun stuff. Solo canoes are the way to go to if camping solo. I can do that out of my Tarpon, but I'd rather use a canoe for that. Canoes are likely manuverable in the hands of a skilled paddler, but kayaks are a heck of a lot easier to learn and sure seem to be easier to start and stop. All boats are a compromise and no one boat does everything. Take a look at the Tarpon 120 before you buy if you can.
  3. Ollie have you looked at the Arkansas section of American River fishing?
  4. It's funny how much the bland cosmetics bother me. It's the same site, but it feels wrong.
  5. Your link wasn't specific Larry. It just takes you to another forum. Cut and paste please.
  6. I see the drop shot as a rig to catch fish AFTER you have them pinpointed. I fish other stuff until I have the fish located.
  7. Topwaters VERY early is always a fun choice. It should get you some bites. To absolutely get the skunk out of your boat, you should try a 4 inch grub on an 1/8 oz ballhead jig. Work that grub near bottom from 10-25 ft on points. You can also work boat docks (where legal) and flats 1/2 to 2/3's back in creeks. Dragging a 3/8 oz football jig around would be my next choice. I switch off the lakes and to the creeks this time of year, but that's what I would try.
  8. really? Whys's that Al?
  9. yeah I'm surprized it has been down this long although I'm not sure I trust the routine maintainence message a whole lot. I've got a thing or 2 to post. I hope t comes back up before my advancing age takes away that memory.

    4 Day Weekend

Look ath the lake level link Phil added. It is about an inch above the title to your thread. The lake was 10.5 foot high when I checked earlier today.
  11. Thanks for not killing that snake. It drives me nuts that so many people grab a hoe everytime they see any snake in "their" yard.
  12. I live in Mountain Home, but you're welcoime to come get some sassafras. I have enough to share. REALLY.
  13. Sorry I was slow to notice CB. I have a Merc 20 on a Supreme 2000 which is a 42 inch bottom (I think).
  14. Jets are different and do have some definite downsides, but I've really enjoyed mine. I love not having to worry about hitting a prop and it will run in about 6 inches of water. I hope I don't have to think about a trout boat for a long time.
  15. That ain't good. I hope the NG guys recovery fully. Any significant pollution to the river from the crash?
  16. Dang CB, you sholud have looked into buying a Merc jet. Glad you were able to sell the boat you won, Good Luck with your search.
  17. Good job.
  18. Hey Martin: I have just lined out a way to extend my transom. I'll give you a call tomorrow . Thanks, Ham
  19. Thanks for the intell. That is not the part of the lake I have been trying to learn, but I'll keep it in mind.
  20. There are cabins to rent along the Norfork if you want that. There are rooms in Norfork which is as close as Mt Home. Mt Home has two movie theaters, mutiple bowling allies, there are swimming areas at Lake Norfork, there is a place on 62 west of Mt Home called "the Zone"that kids love that will take all your money, there are batting cages in Mt Home if you kids does baseball, golf courses, and all kinds of places to eat.
  21. What ramps are usable at > 17 foot above full pool?
  22. Hey Taxi, Have you heard anything about warranty work for the folks that bought Supremes recently? My boat is past that point, but some folks might still have some coverage on paper at least.
  23. I almost hate to wear a cap because I end up NOT seeing a lot of beautiful bluffs. I love that blue green water the Buffalo has. That upper section has so much drop per mile that I don't think the fishing is as good as further down the river. I've caught fish there and some nice ones, but I don't think it "carries" as many fish as the lower river does. I'll get to the Buffalo soon.
  24. I've never eaten a smallie. I do keep fish from time to time, but not smallies.
  25. Yeah the post spawn females will strike the spook, but they ain't eating it great yet. You guys had tough conditions for a TW bite. Spots seem to like the dingier water. AGFC studies show spotted bass to be the least of the three black bass species in number. LMB> SMB. spotted bass. LMB are everywhere, but th smallies and spots have semi-specific places they like to live in or at least that has been my experience.
