  1. I guess I'm a little more OCD about these things than some. I have a 3600 loaded with hooks, split rings, oval rings, and snaps.
  2. Richard handed me my hat with Pink one day. I bought pink jigs, but I can't buy a bite with them. i think he will want some White 1/32 oz and some Olive/Ginger 1/32 oz. I don't think I need a full range of colors in 1/32 oz, but believe they are needed.

Huge win for the Pens. Huge. Let's hope Hornquist is OK.
  4. So many fish will be caught from the contents of that box. So, so many.
  5. Take your time. Plenty of time to look before you leap. i bought a used boat for half of new retail and have really, really got my money's worth out of it. 1/6 the price of my BassCat and it gets used twice as much. give us a shout when you are in town.

    I wish I could UN-see that. Ouch.
  7. I wet wade at Cotter and below in the summer time. Get a trout boat and use it as a water taxi to get to lots of wading areas. So much to learn, but that keeps it interesting.
  8. Wind is an issue with nano. You can keep your rod tip low which helps or even put the line down on top of the water. It is sensitive enough to still transmit bites. ill say it again and again. Nanofil when used correctly is very cost efficient and will revolutionize your fishing with spinning gear.
  9. Thanks for all the help Bill. Everyone could use some help every now and then. BSL is very large and the different parts of the lake fish differently in the Spring and Fall as water temps are widely disparate. I try to tell where I fished (general area). Water temp and water conditions. What worked and what didn't for me. I'm not as dialed in as some are. I've only been up here 8 years or so and I work my 40 hours a week. If I fished 40 hours a week for 20 years, I might start to come close to the Yoda status Bill has. i share what I am comfortable sharing. I'll tell lots and lots on the White River. It's a put and take fishery. Let's go bang out a 100 trout in an afternoon. It's hoot. Bull Shoals and Norfork I'll be a little less specific because I might be spending a friend out to the exact spot or I might dream of getting back on them. Creeks and smallie rivers. I keep on the down low. The fishing is too good and the resource is too fragile. Anyone can go and catch River smallies. Pay attention and you will learn how to catch more and larger ones pretty quickly. i will disagree with one thing Bill said about Bull Shoals. It has plenty of access points. They just require a lot of driving to get to. It is the nature of the lake and not human failing. It isn't a bowl. Look at the aerial maps. so get ready to burn some gas and go get you some fish.

    Pens vs Bolts

It was a tough game for me. Loved the start, hated the two soft goals. Sweated bullets. I was fully prepared to be devastated by a Pen's loss. I was very excited by The OT win of course. Go 0-2 at home and the series is over. 1-1 and all you need to do is get a win in their house. Let's Go Pens!
  11. I like Fairview just fine. I've never had any problems there and I've never heard of any problems there. I wouldn't let the out of state plates worry me. Yes, something could always happen, but that is at any ramp. The ramp at the mouth of Jimmy Creek is free. Decent parking. Long way down to the water. The road to the ramp floods at 674'. Mark that down somewhere. The ramp immediately behind the shop stays usable as long as the lake is open, but lack of parking makes it tough.
  12. Alberto with nanofil to Fluro or co-poly. Minimal issues. Catch a lot of fish.

Being reported that Maatta will be a healthy scratch for tonight's game. I am apparently not the only one that thinks Maatta hasn't been playing well. I know he wants to be playing a his highest level. I'm not sure what's wrong with him, but something is.

I'm sure the Pens can win in Tampa, but this is a must win game. If they don't win tonight, they will basically be playing to avoid a sweep. It was said the Pens looked hung over from beating the Caps. If so, I hope they are over that and give Tampa their full attention. I still say something is wrong with Maatta. He looked better as a rookie.
  15. I really, really, really want to do an all day minimum flow kayak trip on the White. Fly rod and spinning rod. Yesterday would have been a great day for it. I simply did not have the time.
  16. Minimum flow. Almost no wind. Lots of "moss" on bottom. No problem. fished out of my Coosa for 2 hours. I got 29 to hand and had lots of other fish hooked up. My first time on the White River in Months. I was a little rusty I fished two of Richard Cross's Prototype Gen 2 Crossfire rods. Both of them are better rods than the original Crossfire. Lighter. Crisper. I think I liked the lighter power of the two better. Both were plenty sensitive. The decision is all Richard's to make, but I will offer my opinion. i fished 1/16 oz Zig Jigs exclusively. Olive/Ginger, Triple olive, and Brown/Orange. I caught fish on all of them. i really like riffle areas on minimum flow. The trout there are actively feeding.
  17. I was thinking the blood was Champ's. The worst bite j have ever taken from a fish was from a little Bullhead I was taking off a set line. I was trying to get a hook out of him without damaging him too badly. That nasty sucker clamped down on my left thumb with the speed and force of a rat trap. I swear I could not have been more surprised had it spoken to me. And it really, really freaking hurt. Good times.
  18. I'll will abstain from commenting on what I've seen today. It will suffice to say not a fishing show or a lake on my fishing tackle or a tackle store or anything relating to what's fun for me. ?

I wish Jagr was doing that with the Pens, but I understand why they did not invest in him when he started this comeback. The odds were that he would not be able to compete.

Ovi has a bigger body to throw around, but I think he's kinda dirty with it. Not as bad as he used to be. Ovi is most definitely the better goal scorer, but I don't think he is the better player. Crosby spends a lot more time playing a 200 foot game and is always looking to create a play for a line mate to score. Crosby is a much better passer and sees the ice better. Plus, I just think Crosby has been a complete Pro at representing the Pens and the NHL as a whole and he give back to the community in Pittsburgh and in Nova Scotia. That's why I was so aggravated that after he came back from injury and had a great season they gave the Hart Trophy to Ovi (the last time Ovi won it) because he had a few more goals, but no where near as close when it came to being a complete player or a complete teammate. Crosby will likely never win another Hart Trophy because lots of players have caught up to his skill level. Crosby still has good years left in the tank, but though it pains me to say it, he is not far and away the best player in the league any more.
  24. I would love to have used every rod in that series to see how they change thru the lineup. I dearly love the 7 footer and I think the 6'6" would be very close to that. I have seen the actions of rod vary a bunch though. I have used St Croix "L"s in 5'6", 6', 6'6", and 7' and they are all different from each other. The 7' footer is an awesome live bait rod, but the 6' and 6'6" are sensitive enough to fish jigs tight lined. The 5'6" didn't throw as well as the others, but you could still feel with it. So, I recommend the rod I have used the 7 foot one.
