Photo Trip To Ozark National Riverway Area (Updated W/pics)
Smalliebigs replied to mic's topic in Photography
Welch spring???? and you can fish around there as well -
WOW!!!!!!! that sucked.....there's nothing like seeing your team just get dismantled....holy crap!!!!. Kozma showed his youth and inexperience as did Lance Lynn,Allen Craig and the team showed their complete inconsistantcy with hitting while people in scoring posistion???? the two most important thing to hitting are on base pct. and hitting with men in scoring posistion and the Cardinals sucked at that. The majic ran out..... Lynn,Carpenter and Loshe sucked bad and the team just crumbled around them....oh well I will still have seat 3 and 4 section 212 next year and until I can't afford them anymore as I love the Cards Notes for next year:::: 1) Let Rosenthal start please 2)is Jon Jay the ansewer in center field your third most important posistion on the field????? I don't think so but, I don't think the front office will go get someone or is anything even available on the open market??? 3)Joe Kelly should be a starter 4) Is Kozma a major league short stop????? not sure but, Frucal with a year left is a chandelier 5) Is Jaime too much of a head case????? our only lefty and with a big contract.....he would be hard to move 6) can Shelby Miller fufill his promising skill and become a stater???? doubtful I will never question the grittyness, and determination of the Cardinals as a team but their approach some games seems to be completely flawed and I think that goes back to scouting and coaching. Lots of questions for me but, I can't wait to get it started all over again.

The Bourb Was Hot This Morning
Smalliebigs replied to Smalliebigs's topic in General Angling Discussion
IMO the Bourb is a early Spring and Fall river, it's good then but, when the water temps go up above 75 the moss and algae goes nuts from all of the nitrogen and phosphates in the water from all of the surounding farm country run off. It was kind of funny just hammering fish in slack water areas by wood, where typically I wouldn't even fish........they are eating right now and I'm heading out to Paddy O's to do some drinking GO CARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! although it looks like my games are going to be Thursday and Friday if the forecast holds -

Bless Her Ever Loving Heart
Smalliebigs replied to Chief Grey Bear's topic in General Angling Discussion
Chief, I have an Old Town Guide 113 that I used this morning as well as one other time. I would say very gently used to say the least. It is in Old Town's camo color and I have already modified the seating area from their garbage molded seat to a nice cane bench and moved it forward 4 inches. If you want it you can have it for $250.00 it would be a cheap option to cut your teeth on..... here are the best pics I have right now.....I'll try to take some of the bottom tonight which has virtually no scrapes let me know.......I will call you and try to get some bottom pics on here for ya -

Franklin is not a D-1 quaterback for a variety of reasons.....It's on Gary for reqruiting him. OTF I don't think a cortisone shot will affect your future like you are saying. I love Mizzou but they are over matched with talent and out recruited by the SEC teams. I love how tough their deffense is playing but the lack of depth overall across the board at every posistion is killing them. The spread offense is a joke against talented players.....there is a big reason why not one team in the NFL runs a spread offense. I still don't see where Mizzou gets 6 wins you guys are talking about???? they have a fighters chance at best against Tennessee and Syracuse and thats stretching it IMO. Maty Mauk is a little undersized but is a real quarterback that can actually pass.....redshirting is fine this year but, next year there should be a tryout for the posistion. Franklin can't stay in a game or chooses not to and that is not acceptable at this level. Mizzou should go out and get a real coching staff with the extra revanue from the SEC....they are already down and suck but we can only assume they fill their coffers and pay off the Big 12 for bailing. One player here and there does not make a reqruiting class. I hope the Mizzou alumni doesn't mind beeing the doormat of the SEC.???? Basketball will be a different story thankfully

Maty Mauk.......please I think someone here said Franklin was a Hiesman canidate......lol

nobody mounts a 2 1/2 lb Brown......I agree with Andy, that fish looked foul hooked and the dude look sheepish with that fish and then walked away almost embarrassed as he should have if he actually mounted a 2 1/2 Brown Trout. That reminds me of this weekend, on the way to LOZ we stopped at a little market /gas station/bong store at the Richland exit on HWY 44 and the dude running the store was a partime guide/store owner. He had a bunch of cool smallie pics on a board by the door with a skin mount smallie that looked to be from 1985. The fish was about 18 inches and the mount had a tag on it that said caught by Paul on the Gasconade River 24 3/4 inches!!!!!!.....lol My buddy and I chuckled to ourselves and then when we got back in my truck broke out in complete laughter.....what a dork.

Taking My Family To Black, Mo Next Weekend...any Tips?
Smalliebigs replied to E Green's topic in General Angling Discussion
E, Rainbow is right Black River Lodge is simply one of the best places on earth. I'm bias as my family has been going there for many years on the same week for decades and all the people from my week have been comming that week for ever as well. I have met some of my best friends in life at Black River Lodge and is something that i hold close to my heart for sure. It's not fancy but, provides you a base to have the time of your life if you choose to. The owner Gil and his daughters and grandchildren run it and I love them all like family. E, they have cabins on the weekends from Labor day thru mid October which is very fun. I have found that area of the State to be my favorite as it is very scenic and there are bountiful outdoor oputunities.....I will be living on a river down there sooner than later. Try Bearcats Getaway they have two very nice cabins as well right above the river. My wife and I stayed there this year and floated a few days they were pretty nice. -
Sweet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! looks like he or she ate a smallie??? cool pic Mitch it was COLD @ LOZ this weekend....brrrrrrr....2200 people in one tournament
-
justin, I love the Black and fish it a bit and Mitch is correct Ron Kruger is a great guide but, you don't need one. Fish early with any walk the dawg bait of your choice, and I mean early the bite turns off there for topwater once the sun rays come up over the trees to the east. I have been scoring big with a Strike King Dog jr.....then go to some soft plastics the rest of the day. I use a trick worm Texas rigged, as well as some a creature bait I will leave nameless. Use the fow of the main channel as your guide, look for moving water with boulders or laydowns....the smallies will be there.

If there are Otters in that killer little creek it's doomed........what a bummer. I wonder when the season is on Otters???
-
Wow, Gary showed why he isn't a D-1 coach and his team exemplified his persona. Going for it in your own end on 4th and 11 and relying on your punter to convert on a 26 yard run???? wtf....the tigers were tight as hell and the mistakes showed that much. The jawja team played down to the Tigers level in the first half and then turned it on to roll. I'm sticking with my prediction of 4 and 7 this year, I hate to say this because I love Mizzou but, they are not deep enough or fast enough for the SEC. It does seem like a ton of kids around here are pumped to go to Mizzou all of the sudden so the future may get brighter.

don't laugh....because I know I'm a rank dork when it comes to flyfishing......I caught one trout about 6 inches long on a very tiny midge that was a biege color....tom hargrove tied up some for me. The fly itself was so small, I had no idea the fish had even taken the fly I simply pulled up on the rod and he was on. I did scare two much bigger trout from an under cut bank by a root wad....they would have gone every bit of 12 to 13 inches. The new rod and reel is cool, I took it over to the Meramec and caught three nice sunfish.....it really is much easier to cast small fly with a rod less than a 6wt....lol
-
Mike, I waded up BSC from the HWY N bridge to the water treatment basin last weekend and it looked good to me and I did buy a 4wt rod and reel.....let me know when your going. Scott

What a tool!!! You can see the guy flip his throttle up and down like he has no clue right before the boat goes airborne. You guys want to take a ride in my Formula....it's real fast a I don't have a clue as to what I'm doing........lol They are going way to fast and the impact looks like it knocks homie out......wonder what kind of lanyard situation there is on a Formula?? http://youtu.be/w_cMHSOLEJA

Al, a buddy of mine fished your creek last Tuesday and had similar results, we only fished from the upper bridge to his uncles cabin which I have a feeling is where you saw your group of big fish?? We caught a 19 1/2 and an 18 in their cabin hole as I call it. We also caught a good number above there of long skinny fish, a few on topwater but most fish were caught on softplastics. It's good to hear that creek still produced something for ya as we just hammered the upper half of that creek....the number of fish was staggering and we also saw two groups of floaters who put in kayaks on their own.....one was a fishing group and the other was a pleasure, sight seeing deal I think. There no sacred cows anymore....thats for sure. We went down to the only access point on that creek and there was 7 vehicles in the lot....several people fishing with minnows....didn't look good, but that access get buried.

When Fishing/hiking, Do You Carry A Handgun?
Smalliebigs replied to rfd515's topic in General Angling Discussion
bassnerd, you shoot raccons at your campsite with a BB gun???? OMG what a tool....talk about the kettle calling the pot black. Hey, if your more comfortable with the criminals concealing weapons than law abiding citizens who obtain them with permits more power to ya. I don't walk around with my ego getting stroked because I have a gun feeling like I have the ability to kill whatever, whenever??? and I deffinitely don't shoot animals with a bb gun at my campsite like a little bitch. -
