  1. That has been such a battle for a long time with the dumping of the coal ash and rumors of a cancer ring around the dumping. Then there is the side that using natural gas uses up energy that we could use in our homes and cars and was illegal until a few years ago. I am from a small town on the other side of the state that has dried up and almost blown away and I remember back in the 80s when New Balance wanted to relocate to Arkansas and they voted to turn them away because of the chemicals used to make the shoes. Arkansas is set on being a poor, rural state with the exception of Bentonville where cotton will always be king, thank god for Mississippi.
  2. Was that interview on the pod cast or ESPN show, Day 1, Day2 or 3? I was only able to get through about half of Day 1 since competitive fishing puts me to sleep but still have them on DVR and would like to see that part. Sure there is a high price "pro" model to follow.......
  3. I usually find the stripers in Monte during the shad die off, but haven;t been there lately.
  4. Seems so many people have to have the $25 and up jerk baits to fish a jack pot around here, just watched Jason Christie catch a 4lb bass in the Bassmaster Classic with a $5 Rouge. Don't those pros know anything... You can't catch fish with old baits, they don't work anymore.....
  5. Hope it warms a little, snow on the ground this morning.
  6. Hey until 2003 you never saw a walleye in Beaver and it is a native fish to the White River, so be grateful for what we have, and money is all the gov is about now. How would you like to have your check cut from $700-$1000 a month, that is what all the gov employees are facing today. If you really miss yellow perch they have a good hold in Bull Shoals, as far as lakers Greers Ferry has a good population so there are lakes in Arkansas to get your fix. I know there are a few big browns in Beaver, I have seen them jump out of the water and catch mayflies.
  7. Took me a while to remember to search for "ENHANCED" lake map and not just lake map....not the easiest place to find.
  8. All reports I have read there are to many bass and reproducing at higher rates than is healthy for increasing the size of bass.

  10. Did you download the free Beaver lake map of the Lowrance web site?
  11. I have used them on ice jigs and had great luck on them with crappie and trout below the darn but my wife lost all my ice jigs and have not bothered to order anymore. I saw some on cabela's bargain cave on line, but have no idea if this store stocks them. The ice jigs I am talking about are the small spoons with a single hook soldered in the center, they are good for casting as well as working vertical.
  12. Sounds like someone is moving up to 36V and 101lbs?
  13. I would trade my 12V 54lb Motor guide FW-FB for Jeb's 70lb motor guide if you were able to get a good deal from Jeb that could work out. I have been wanting to upgrade to 24V.
  14. There is a huge thrift store on hwy 62 and 13th street in Rogers, can't remember the name but you can't miss it lots of brand new junk for a bargain. Bella Vista is great for Thursday thru Sunday garage sales just check craigslist, lots of retired people selling old furnishings and hobby equipment. War Eagle mill is also a local attraction and home site for antique hunters and hobbyist. My favorite lunch spot is Catfish John's on hwy 62 also good frog legs. Always stop by Hook,Line and Sinker in Bella Vista and check the used rods and reels they always have the last years top of the line rods for cheap since there are a lot of anglers that like to keep up with the Jones around there. There are some great river trips out of Noel, MO and it is a great little town with a court square on the river that reminds me of little towns 40 years ago. Easy to rent a canoe for a family float trip and some great smallmouth fishing in waist deep water.
  15. That would be a Marine bird not Army or Air Force so probably down from Joplin way instead of Fort Smith. The Air Force uses Fayetteville Air Strip for training since it's short runway and close mountains are so close to Afaganstain type terrain, would make since the Marines are starting to use that route too. Several Marine Reserve units between Joplin and KC. Just guessing I do drive by the Airport everyday and like seeing those C130s at tree top level, takes me back a few years.
  16. I don't know about a class but I could catch some bass off the back of your boat with a jerk bait this time of the year.lol
  17. I have had two thoughts on light hooks, great when you have 20lb braid and hook a tree, but if you hook a 20lb striper you need to change split rings also. The Mc stick has great hooks but they don't hold up to stripers and heavy line and also found they will suspend better with heavy VMC hooks. I agree with swaping hooks, adding split rings and playing with jerkbaits to get different actions for different temps, somedays they like a sinking bait sometimes a rising bait and sometimes it just has to sit there and in IMO those little changes make all the difference and paint jobs add about 10% of the difference.
  18. The H2O suspending is also a good deep diver and half the price of the other jerk baits, Then if you play with the floating H2O jerkbait it will suspend also and you can get 3 for the price of one Mcstick or Pointer. It depends on the day I have struck out with high priced jerkbaits all day then loaded the boat with $3 jerkbaits. My personal best 7lb bass off beaver came from a husky jerk then my best bag 5 fish 26lbs came off a Janes netcraft 78 in Table Rock shad. I probably have $200 worth of LC pointers stuck in stripers and trees in that Lake so I had to find a cheaper route and have not been short on hooking fish, they don't seem to care how much you spend, but I do think the bigger stripers target high dollar baits on lighter line.lol
  19. I like the ones from Netcraft myself, more like a pointer. The table rock shad is very effective. You have to put on your own split rings and hooks though. I have a couple of rick clunns but have no caught anything on them but not much use either. http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/crankbait-bodies/341520.aspx
  20. Thanks good to know, guess it did change or I was just not enough in the know to fight it.
  21. I think if you check the law you will see it is 10 between 12 and 18 inches and one over 18 inches. I was fishing a tournament and it was put out one over 18 in and up to 10 of any size under and showed up at the weigh in with a 11in bass and was disqualified due to breaking the State law. Check state law before bringing any fish to the ramp!!! If you take pics and release the fish into the water without putting it in your livewell you are safe, if you put it in your livewell you are considered keeping the fish.
  22. I refuse to even enter the store after being turned down for employment then happened into one of the guys that got the job I wanted. I had 22 years in the Army and a very successful career he had two years in the National Guard and said it was his Military Experience that got him hired. 22 years of service never even a traffic ticket on my record and I get a letter asking me not to apply again!!! Call it sour grapes or what ever I wouldn't go into that store if they were giving away everything.........
  23. Yea one foot is going to be hard to see and with just a little generation it is already starting to drop at the dam. I think the rise is over.
  24. Good to see the creeks running but they were so dry, this would have been a 2 foot rise if the creeks were flowing when it came. I don't think we will even see a foot rise in the lake but just stopping the drop is big news. Wish we had 2 more inches coming but doesn't look like it, maybe March will be kind to us.
  25. Just a quick warning for those that have never seen the water down that low don't drive on the old lake bed, below high water line. I drove over to the island across from RT 12 Bridge back in 2003 0r 2004 can't remember but had 4 different law enforcement agencies fighting over who was going to write me a ticket. If you launch from shore be sure to pull back out past high water line to park, you may get away with it for a while but when you get caught it is not cheap. Also don't remove anything from the shore line like arrow heads, the Corps considers that stealing.
