  1. They also generate electricty on Beaver and Table Rock at the bottom of the darn, when the water goes out the top the amount of power you get of it is zero, the same as taking a gas hose and pouring it the back of your pick up and saying I will pick it later and put it my tank. Table Rock and Beaver were rising at a higher than expected rate for 5 days before anything was done, at this time is when max generation needs to take place, 1st for flood control, 2nd for not wasting resources for Hydropower. Oh, is that priotry anymore? Just to review the "primary purpose for lakes are Flood Control and Hyrdropower" once you open a flood gate you have thrown both of those out, now you are just pulling the yellow handle and trying to save a darn and have an emergency. Nobody plans to fail but failure to plan leads to failure. One policy here would have made this much less of a problem, IF YOU SEE A 2FT RISE IN LAKE LEVEL IN A 24 HOUR PERIOD GENERATE AT MAX UNTIL YOU SEE A DROP IN THE LAKE LEVEL OF 1FT. Instead there was no generation that was zero(0) up to the point the flood gates were open. Take a trip to Beaver Town and explain to those people why there was no release of water through the turbines before the situation got to the point they had to take out thier bridge, thier campgrounds(source of income) and flood thier homes and by the way why we were burning coal to provide electricty when there was so much free water coming down we had to store it in their living rooms but were not using it to produce electricty.
  2. There is a term for that "passing the buck" what we need to find out is where the buck stops and fire him.
  3. Everyone saw this flood coming except for the Army Corps of Engineers. I just saw an interview on 40/29 and all shots on lake levels are made in Little Rock and they admitted they had to have the water on the ground, then watch what happened before they can act. I don't think that anyone on this forum couldn't have done a better job by generating that water instead of waiting for an emergency and blaming God. This is our government, our resources and our homes and land being destroyed because of people that can't read charts, make decisions or who even knows if they are even at work until an "emergency" is determined. This is not the first time it is every time we have storms out of the ordinary and I want to know how we can pull together and get someone's attention. That water was rising for days with no generation at all, if the Corps doesn't have control of that, the fire them and get someone who can take control, it is easy I have seen it happen. I spent 22 years in the Army and I know if this was any other operation with the Army's name attached to it, there would be relief for cause going around and new people coming in overnight but for some reason these people seem to hold postions they can't handle until they drop.
  4. Beaver has started to drop, down from 1131ft to 1129ft so maybe they can start closing the gates today and slow the flow a little. I wonder how far the trout are going to be washed??
  5. Well Beaver is going down finally, back to 1129 ft this morning, maybe they can slow down the gates today. Table Rock at a record high is not a good thing since thier release is in such a populated area.
  6. I just looked it up and Bull Shoals has hit 695 ft once since 1957 and that was in 2008 and with the flow coming down now should be back to that by Thursday.
  7. I have never seen Bull shoals over 75% of it's total capacity looks like with Beaver and Table Rock not able to hold back this flood we will get to see how much water the Bull can hold. Will there be any boat lauches left when it hits the top of the flood pool? Has Bull Shoals ever reached it's top flood pool? Beaver and Table Rock are over thier flood pools with gates open, they have to increase flow and they won't want to add to flooding down stream unless they have too, so I am beating Bull shoals will have to hold it for a while.
  8. Beaver has to wait for Table Rock to increase outflow before they can increase the amount of water they are pushing. Both are almost 2ft over thier safe limits now with rivers feeding both lakes still not crested. With more rain coming tonight, I don't see this being good for anybody.
  9. Lake level is now at almost 1132 feet with the top flood pool being 1130ft so that puts the flood gates under 2ft of rising water and the rivers feeding in with no signs of cresting. Seems they have no choice but to open the flood gates wide open and I know that is not good for the people who live downstream. Just saw a post on Table Rock that said gates will open to 5ft, they can open to 9ft.
  10. 6pm news said they had aready increased the opening to 2 ft.
  11. What darn? Beaver is now wide open.
  12. I just heard on the news the flood gates are open, first time since 2008, doesn't seem that long.
  13. This link has the hours the level is recorded, it is easy to see they will have to open the gates soon or it will just go over the darn. Another 6 or 7 feet is usally safe, but at 6 to 7 ft per day rise and Beaver about to go over, looks like we are going to see how much Bull Shoals can hold. Lake level
  14. LOOK OUT WITH SMALL BOATS, currently in flood stage, there will be trees floating and current everywhere. This weather is changing everything, Beaver will be opening flood gates all rivers and streams over the flood banks and 2 more days of rain coming so call ahead Friday to make sure the place you plan to get boats are still renting this weekend. I am over at Beaver, but Table Rock is getting this just as bad, I have friends near the lake who thought they were on high ground that can't make it to work because of flooded roads. If you want lawn charis they will be floating all over the lake.
  15. Current rate of flow shows 1 ft every 4 hours that puts it over the darn in 16hours or less. That is the fasest I have ever seen it rise.
  16. Beaver is up over 1126 and enogh in the rivers to push over the darn today without rain and you know the rain isn't going to stop. Hope everyone on this end has thier boats out of the lifts, can't see where they would be able to stay in a lift, they will float out if not tied up and sink if they are. The time it takes the corps to react, I am going to be courious if the flood gates get opened, or if it just goes over the darn, either way it is going.
  17. The link is delayed a few hours, this morning it is 1126.33 ft, even without anymore rain there is 4 ft worth in the rivers coming, look out Holiday Island because it will be over the darn today. I really wish they would open the generators, but guess that takes too much time to figure out where the power goes. I had a report of loose boats due to people leaving thier boats in lifts and not tying them down. Are there salvage rights to drifting boats?lol
  18. Just incase anyone missed it the draught is over. From draught level to full pool and rounding the coner to flood pool in 3 days and 3days of this too go. Anyone want to wager when they will have to open the flood gates??
  19. Broccoli plants being cut down is not a bad thing in my book. My oinions and tomatos are a different story.
  20. Insurance?? I was sort of hoping for a good hail storm here to get me a new roof, just a couple lost shingles I will have to replace myself.
  21. The level hit 1117 today and still rising from the rain and looks like almost a week worths to come. Hope everyone gets thier docks moved before anything sinks.
  22. What kind of swimbaits were you using? I have caught just about everything on those little STORM Wildeyed swimbaits but have only caught stripers on larger swimbaits.
  23. I thought that was the point, but wasn't sure. I also saw Stacy King catch a big bass with that tail spinner in the back of Ventrais because I reconginzed that old root cellar that is sticking out of the water. Anybody reconginze any other points?
  24. I watched it Sunday, good show and liked the fact they showed Aron from HL&S. I recongonized most areas from point 9 down horseshoe bend. Id the big rock across from RT12 bridge. I heard a lot of reports at weigh in about crankbaits but seemed every fish they showed was caught on a jerk bait. Did anyone else ID any areas? Really wish the camera men would scan the shore a little more.
  25. Thanks for the explantion of the power pack. It does not matter if I acclerate slowly or quickly, at first if I slamed it hard it would still go, now as soon as I shift into reverse or forward it dies, but only in the water. On the dog ears in the yard with the prop in the air, there is no problem at all. I do agree with you about needing a mechanic to find the problem without chasing parts I probally don't need. It will just have wait until I find a job.
