What concerns me about the Blues is the Goals Scored vs. Goals Allowed ratio. It might be that the Blues are not as good as their record. Stars 71 41 21 9 91 229 208 3-4-3 L2 Blues 72 41 22 9 91 191 185 6-4-0 L2 Blackhawks 71 41 24 6 88 197 176 3-6-1 L4

Dogwoods blooming = White bass run....?
David Unnerstall replied to chi0082's topic in Table Rock Lake
You can always tell dogwoods by their bark. -
Oh they know, I have no idea how, though.

I have been getting stuck at customer sites late, lately, too late for supper at home. I have been going into gas stations in small towns. What is typical is nine containers of Unidentified Fried Objects. Now I can recognize the corn dogs and chicken wings but the other seven items all look the same and there are never any labels. I ask the help to tell me what each one is but I feel bad about it. Is there a way to tell the fried okra apart from the chicken nuggets and so on?

Getting to Chicago for a weekend series is something I have to do. They say Yadi won't be 100% on opening day but they have accomplished an upgrade on second-string catcher with Pena.

There seems to be a lot of trying to fix things that aren't broke, these days.

And then there is this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xBxZGQ1dJk Steve Goodman sings "A Dying Cub Fan's Last Request".

Correct -- radio wasn't even invented. But before I cause a wave of bad karma in Bird-land that '08 team won 116 games in a 156 game season. I believe Cleveland or maybe Seattle won 116 games but that was in a 162 game season. So those '08 Cubs were the best team ever in a single season.

Hey when the Cubs last won the World Series in 1908 does any body know who broadcast the games on radio?

When I bought the Chrysler four years ago the people in the License Office were tickled with the titles for the trailer, boat and trolling motor. But I was told the outboard would have to be inspected by the Water Patrol before it can be registered. No logic was offered. This would require me to hitch the boat and try to make arrangements with some WP officer somewhere for him to look at it and say that is indeed an outboard and go back to the License Office. If and when I do get stopped I will tell him I was told the outboard is to be inspected by a Water Patrol officer and isn't this a perfect time for that.

I have always been a bank-beater. I assumed fish migrate to the banks to find something to feed upon and the fish that are suspended are not hungry and will not bite. After being on this forum I have changed my mind on this. It is just that I have no confidence in fishing deep. I fish Wappappello a lot and the majority of that lake is very shallow except for the St. Francis River channel.

And there is always the risk of having two dead batteries and waving a tow rope at other boats passing by if you are trying to charge both at the same time.

What is the largest fish you have caught in MO?
David Unnerstall replied to grizzly's topic in General Angling Discussion
The next one I catch will be the largest. -
The fishing report always says fish are being caught during low light periods. I have fished there and it seems before dusk everyone was just putting in. It was a 10-horse limit or idle-speed and I have not heard if that changed. It is nice to be away from all of the pleasure boaters. I recall catching red-ears there but is has been a while since I fished it.

You know I have been watching the TV show "Route 66" on Hulu the past couple of years (one of the best shows, ever). There was one episode where Tod and Buzz happened across a group of individuals in Arizona who were stockpiling weapons because they knew that the power stations the government were building was a way for them to take over. The group was led by a single individual who seemed to be able to control the rest. I know this is just a script for a TV show but I suspect these characters have always been around. It is just that the Internet gives them the method of finding each other. But something that I wish we could fix is the petty government individuals we have to put up with. Sometimes after leaving the License Office in Missouri I am capable of donning a tin hat and occupying a government building armed to the teeth. But I eventually realize I am just dealing with an individual and not system that is as evil as we want to believe.

I am hoping for a better year and plan on being able to contribute something meaningful to this forum – instead of my comments that only seem funny at the time. And besides there is no way I can compete with Wrench. I started a teardrop trailer last year. The sides are cedar strips to match my canoe which will go on top of it. Here is a link to the Facebook page I created for it: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.912123178848774.1073741831.100001533025115&type=1&l=03e798a7a7 It is not done but usable. This took up way too much of my time and I wish I hadn't started it. I have a job where I don’t know when I am going to get home at times. My wife was born with a bit of a disability and I do most of what is necessary in the house. I fix everything that breaks in the house and most things with our vehicles. And I manage to heat the house with wood (I have a chain saw but no log splitter). The trailer became a must after we spent Memorial Day weekend at our twenty acres in the Arcadia Valley. On Sunday a storm came in and blew the tent down on us. If you would have seen the tent from the outside all you would see is two heads sticking up from under the tent. Everything we had was wet. Now the teardrop is always packed with clothes and camping and kitchen gear. All I need to pack is a cooler and we are gone. And no more setting up a tent, by myself, in the dark. I hope to have some stories of fishing Crane Lake from my canoe and Wappappello and Clearwater from the old Chrysler. I see some accesses to the Black and St. Francis Rivers on Google Earth that I want to try with the fly rod. And I have four weeks of vacation, this year, and will spend the extra week with the new crossbow during archery season.

I got plenty of ice in the freezer. I don't need any more.

Some Pictures from a Couple of Recent Nov/Dec Efforts

I will watch it again if Martha Quinn comes back -- man was she hot. Oh wait....I don't have cable anymore. -
Be on the lookout for someone who "suddenly" has an elk antler mount on the wall.

Alright, Candy is buying me a crossbow for Christmas (she doesn't know it yet). And she is getting more venison for Christmas (she doesn't know that either). Do any of you who currently hunt with a doctor's exemption have any advice on a purchase?
