They were both paying attention. The issue from what I've gleaned off the net is that both corrected in the same path twice until it was too late. I've known from long ago which boat has the right of way and which way to turn in the event of two boats approaching each other head-on. But, not everyone may know the proper navigational rules of conduct. What I've learned from this incident is to give way or move to a different angle sooner. Two boats approaching each other at around 70 gps doesn't leave much time to double correct. I'm not dogging a fast boat, mine runs with the bigger dogs, just changing the way I approach another head-on boater. It may take a few seconds off my take-off run, but I'll arrive there.
