  1. Hey Bill Thanks for the report, even if Phil made you. Those are beautiful fish. Did you see any shad in the water? George
  2. Phil How long will this usually last? George
  3. Phil Congrats on the fish, you must be proud. We are all waiting for a photo. George
  4. Bill & Phil Thanks for the report and keep them comming whenever possible. They are the only thing that help get me thru tax season. I may have to sneek down sometime if fishing is as good as it sounds. Happy new year George
  5. Hey lost my wife Phil has a good article under the Tany Articles called Spin Fishing below the Dam. You are looking at two different setups, one for "regular trout fishing" which would be light or ultralight, and one for night brown trout fishing which would be more like a bass rig that you would use to throw larger raps and other stuff for the big boys. For the light stuff you want to use between a 6 and 7 foot light rod and a good reel that holds either 4 or 2 lb test. You can fish a wide variety of flys with this sort of rig.
  6. Nice report and congrats on a heck of a trip. How about a photo of the fly in question. Thanks
  7. I've got to know. Where you the snaggor or the snaggee ? It makes a difference.
  8. Hey SIO3 Thanks for the excellent report. I am up here in St. Louis and must therefore do most of my fishing on the computer. It is always good to get an update fresh from the stream. Let me also say that you have my favorite name on this site. Man, i have loved your name and postings forever. George
  9. I took a run down to the Highway kk area to meet some friends who were there for the weekend to try to catch some whites. They reported good fishing Thursday and Friday in the cold rain and wind, fishing the points with the usual white bass fare, 3 in white soft plastics on 1/8 oz jig heads, catching the fish in bunches at times. The sun was out bright on Sunday and it was an unbeleivable weather day but not so good for fishing, with temps around 80 and very little wind if any. Managed to put 4 whites in the boat, catching them only in the shade and when the wind was blowing. I switched to 1/16 oz jig with a 2" tail as I thought that I was getting bit short and this seemed to work better than the larger size. The bluff below Tantara was a beautiful site to behold with the fall colors. I wish I had my camera with me to take some shots. It was a great day to be alive and fishing. George
  10. The beauty of this site is that someone starts a thread of "Post your big trout pictures here" and we get a succession of the smallest fish that one could imagine anyone catching. There is also a lot of GREAT information about any aspect of trout fishing, from equipment to flies to fishing spots. Wading thru the BS is part of the fun. George
  11. "Fishing during the day was somewhat tough. I saw very few fish caught. Did manaage 6 or 7 browns that were over 20" Are you kidding? A brown over 20" is a tremendous fish, not to mention six or seven. You had an unbelievable weekend. George
  12. Does anyone have any feedback on 2 section vs 4 section rods? I broke my little old 7.5 foot 4 weight and was looking at the TFO's in Phil's shop. I really like a 4 weight and I was thinking of a nine or 9 and 1/2 foot TFO. Maybe Santa will bring me one. George
  13. Phil Any word yet on this topic from the State ? Just asking, Go Cards. George
  14. Hey Leonard I am planning on heading up to the dam Sunday night with my friend Wayne after the Cards game. Any suggestions? Thanks George
  15. Phil, I love your positive attitude about the lake. I wish Edmonds and Rolen were like they were 2-3-4 years ago. The lake has a better chance of reclaiming its former glory than us mortals who grow older each year. We can always hope for good performances tonight. What would all you fisherman think of this? 1 Flies only down to the boat ramp, catch and release on everything over 12 inches. 2 Artificials with current slot limit from boat ramp to fall creek. 3 Anything goes(including my stupid brother's falconry) from there down. George Should have said "brother's stupid" rather than "stupid brother's" Either way this sort of insult usually leads to a provacative responce from 2sheds.
  16. Hey Vanven I think we are talking about 2 different regs here. At the trout parks, an artificial with hair or other material is a fly (ie brown wolly and spinner, brassie). Those spinners you saw may have had some fly component to them. For taney in the restricted area, a rapella is cool, a plastic worm is NOT. Rubber legs on a foam body at taney? That is the question here. George
  17. Is this the same material that Bill is referring to? I'm not sure. George
  18. It starts at the dam and ends at fall creek, there is a big boat dock there on the right side of the lake as you are headed up stream and a sigh about the regulations. It is really hard to miss.
  19. Hey Bill Thanks for the report. What color midges were you using ? Have you seen a couple of old folks running around the lake? Hope to make it down there later in the week or early next. Our tigers gave one away yesterday, no national champs this year. George
  20. Ted Check out "Here is my fishing report " by leonard for some browns
  21. Hey Chambug2 Just wanted to make sure you know that those restrictions are for above fall creek, there are plenty of good places to fish below fall creek if you are so inclined. George
  22. Leonard You Da Man
  23. I would think that the low rainfall is a significant factor, but I wonder how much of a factor the very high water temps (associated in part to the construction in Branson) this spring and summer had to do with this situation. Phil, in your 23 years have the temps ever been that high for that long? Just wondering. Here's to a wet winter George
  24. What a beauty
  25. I really like that first shot, so much pink. Got out for a whole half hour, did you? Why did you let Marsha break one off? Now that mom & dad are home maybe Curtis can get back to his regular work load. George
