    What's Cooking?

Admittedly I have never looked among the giblets a lot, but have never seen turkey or chicken testicles for sale. Now livers I like, and I know folks who live them little testicles but I have never tried them.
  2. I think I took a quick shot at golfers earlier in this one. Mostly just to rile up Vernon, but now that you mention it . . .
  3. Good healthy looking fish too. Congrats.
  4. Truman is even closer. Them fellers would catch those snakes, skin them for a hat band and grill the rest for lunch.
  5. Vernon, you don't see them because they aren't out there swimming around. The return to the house like a homing pigeon. Then Abkeenan loads them into a home made air cannon where he can launch them clear across the cove. Word has it he can hit a bass boat at 200 yards and drop a couple snakes right into the boat.
  6. I made a long walk this evening, as much to get out of house as anything. I found 5 more pretty dry, poking their frost bitten heads up through the leaves. Hopefully that will make my wife a small meal of them.
  7. Ahh, got it. That makes sense, thanks.
  8. 1 in 5 payback = 80%??
  9. That 55 pounder is a long, big fish. Might be partially the angle making it look longer, either way it's a good one for sure.
  10. I am completely shocked to discover that Conservation Agents and Highway Patrol Troopers have real lives. Next thing is that they shop at stores just like we do, or even go to their kids ball games, blasphemy. Most agents I have known enjoy hunting and or fishing but they are quiet about it. EVERY MDC Biologist I have known are hunters and or fishermen.
  11. Now I am certain, I will never fish a tournament, I don't want to win even by accident!
  12. Found a couple, dry here. Need rain and warm nights.
  13. Put that 50 pound bag out toward yur fingertips and extend your arms, oh and do it with no look of strain on your face.
  14. Man I feel like a cheapskate.
  15. There are situations where it would be useful, if you don't want to buy high priced fuel from a marina or have to pull the boat out to refuel and are staying several days again it would be useful. I gave up pulling my boat up on the bank overnight when camping after a rather bad experience after a storm.

    What's Cooking?

Cooking for the kids tonight. Stir fry, raided the freezer and found some sirloin tip and a small package of fillet mignon (at least that is what is written on the white paper from last beef slaughter), got an orange bell pepper, couple of sweet onions, green onions, carrots, sugar snap peas, a small bag of shrimo, and a box of spaghetti noodles because that is my daughters favorite part. Gonna roll the wok (and probably some smoke) later.
  17. Especially with the more fuel efficient 4 strokes to have a 36 gallon tank for a 115 HP (recently looked at one) the 90 HP we have at work doesnt burn all 13 gallons in its tank in a long day. My 90 2 stroke seldom has more than 5 to 10 at most, and only the higher if I am being lazy.
  18. Agree with Ham, even thugh I know my gas is ethanol free and has a shot of sea foam in it I always remove it and start fresh every spring. I bought a shaker siphon at Napa thinking it was a waste of money, works GREAT for that particular job, even if I did have to lengthen it some.

    What's Cooking?

I love stuff like that for breakfast. Many a breakfast of leftover lasagna or ham and beans.
  20. But water up in the bushes makes for a very successful spawn so it's not all bad.
  21. Now that is a fact in all of life.
  22. Some places are destination lakes(TR and LOZ) and even if fishing drops off it will still get tournament pressure. Others like Truman when the bass fishing fell so did the tournament pressure. I doubt it matters what we think much, tournaments are not going away. Personally I do not enjoy them but then I simply cannot why anybody would consider golf fun either.
  23. MDC regulations are the bare minimum, they recognize that tournaments mean $$ in local economies and if yiu don't think that plays BIG you aren't paying attention. Any tournament group is free to put additional restrictions upon their tournament participants. I have expected to see restrictions during the spawn time, but it may not happen for the same reason I noted above $. Tournaments are as individual as fishermen, there are bad ones, good ones and great ones.
  24. My 2 pennies worth, I don't think anyone believes that releasing fish miles away has zero effect. The question is does it have a real effect upon the overall population, none us have that answer I don't believe. Tournaments are here to stay, some changes are likely to be made over the years but they are not going away.
  25. This is one of those things that has always made me wish I could go back in time and do a thesis on. Catch fish and release them at various distances to see how far they go and how fast. Lots of technical issues to work through but would be a lot of fun too, and work.
