  1. Hey troutnat, that one looks good. I like the blue on the bill For those of you that paint lures, check out my website http://shop.blankbaits.com/ . I have an unpainted wart that is very clear, no flaws, and runs great. I call mine a Mid Crank.
  2. I have fished that same way before also. I was also using a floating rapala and just twiching in along the surface at night. At the time they were running one unit. Caught several fish close to 20", infact the average size was much larger at night than durring the day. Also hooked two very large fish on a small firetiger rat l trap. The fish played with me for about 5 min before the hook pulled out. I never got to see how large either was.
  3. Verias rods are great rods. I have the regular sized guides on mine and I love the rod. For that price, you will not be disappointed.
  4. When I use jugs at loz, I like using bluegill no larger than 3". The smaller the better.
  5. Guys, I am a crankbait junky. I own a website that sells unpainted crankbaits and I have tested the live target crankbaits. They are nice. I don't think they are worth the money that the stores are selling the for though. They have a thinner lip than the wiggle wart and don't dive as deep or dig in to the bottom like a wiggle wart does. If you are wanting to try someting like the live target baits, check out he xcaliber brand first at half the price.
  6. For me it is 20-30 days from September to May. 0-5 from June to August. We have an inground pool and that is soooo nice this time of year. With all of the big boats on the lakes around this state, I am happy to just stay home durring the heat of the summer.
  7. I would assume that the 100 fish days are with more than one angler, but I was on a trout trip in January last year with two other friends and one of the guys caught 66 fish over the two days (most were stockers). That was only about 12 hours of total fishing. If we all were counting, I am sure our total would have been in the upper 60's or even 70's each day, 120-140 fish total. And this is from three guys who only fish Tanney once or twice a year. And as far as not trusting the reports, you should only believe what you want. Some fishermen lie.
  8. The MDC thinks that there are too many small fish in the lakes and wants anglers to remove some of the small fish so the others may grow.
  9. I plan on heading down for my first trip below the dam this weekend. Has anyone been on the river lately?
  10. Were you guys using jigs, minnows or both.
  11. Thanks alot guys. Taking the wife and daughter up there this weekend. Should be a good time.
  12. What is the length limit for crappie on MT? I can't seem to find it.
  13. Thanks wrench. I am ok with out a courtesy dock. I wouldn't be fishing it alone. I am just trying to broaden my fishing knowledge. Is there many laydowns on the bank, or does most fish relate to channel swings and holes?
  14. Guys, I am going to try fishing the river for the first time this summer. Is the access ramp below the dam easily accessable with a deep v boat? Are there any other access points close? Is there any navigational hazards in the river that are not marked?
  15. What do you guys like to throw in rising water? I prefer a spinnerbait unless there is flooded brush then I like to flip the brush.
  16. Good Friday was very good to us. My daughter Luella Schwent and I, Jeff At Lake of the Ozarks Good Friday, April 6, 2012
  17. My family and I were down on Friday April 6. We fished around the 5MM and we ended up with 17 keepers, all were around 15' deep and at the end of the docks. I had 4-5 females with very small egg sacks. They were not ready to spawn yet. There bellys were so small I thought I had all males. Some may have spawned, but not all.

  19. I have stayed at all of the places that Jack noted also, and I would place Runaway at the end of that list. If you are going to have a big family going down, check out www.vrbo.com they have condos and houses for rent that are owned by individuals. I have rented several places off of that site in the past. They are not just lake of the ozarks, they are world wide. I have yet to be disipointed with a place I rented on vrbo, can't say the same for so called "resorts" on lake of the ozarks.
  20. Alex, check out http://g2gemini.com/ they make jerseys for the pros. They also have several cheaper styles to choose from.
  21. Guys, If you are wanting to paint some warts, take a look at my new website www.blankbaits.com . I have been painting baits for several years and I had trouble finding the baits that I liked to use from the other unpainted sites, so I went looking for them myself. The wart was the bait that I had the hardest time finding. I have been using them for over a year now and they work great. If you have any questions let me know. By the way, they are called Mid Cranks on the site. I tried to make this post not sound like a shamless plug for the site, I don't think it worked. Jeff
