  1. I like the one in Springfield, better selection than Wal-Mart and better prices than Bass Pro. I've never had a problem with them and I'm sure if there was a pricing issue it has been taken care of.

    Ice Fishing

I don't think I'd have enough confidence in the ice to walk out on any frozen Missouri lake, but if one did.... Where you would you fish at? Above brush piles, out on points, or just stop and cut a hole when you get tired of walking?
  3. Anything being caught off the bridge on McDaniels Lake?
  4. I have unquestionable proof it will be a mild winder.... I've found 2 wooly worms in my garden and both were pure white.
  5. Thanks Bill, I have a trip planned for the 29, but if I get a chance to go ealier I'll post how it went.
  6. Any white bass reports? Probably still to early, but we got to be getting close.
  7. Fished both up stream and down stream from the highway O bridge. Obviously the water was low, and I wish I didn't waste half the morning going upstream. The further down stream I went the better the water got. Not sure if it would still be wadeable during normal water levels, but I caught a countless number of blue gill and sunfish and about a dozen short bass, all on a popper, topwater grasshopper, and a crawldad crank bait. Had a great time and now I have a better idea of how to fish that part of the river.
  8. Any fishing reports for the Little Sac?
  9. Fished both bridges Monday from about 10 to 2 and caught 2 whites. I noticed when I got there most of the guys leaving had good stringers of fish, so Tuesday I got to Taylor at 7:30AM and caught 6 keepers in about 2 hours. All on a white curly tailed grub. Not exactly tearing'em up, but much better than Monday. If I get the opportunity to go back anytime soon it will eithor be early in the morning or late in the afternoon.
  10. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I was always under the impression that by the time the whites were going up river the walleyes were about done.
  11. Are you guys fishing from the bank or are you wading the river?
  12. I always figured the James would be to big to wade fish. Are there many bends in this streach that the water gets above chest high on the shallow side?
  13. WD40? Your post didn't seem like a joke, but spraying WD40 on your bait sure sounded like a joke to me. So I did a google search and sure enough people do it. Have you had good luck using WD40?
  14. Thanks FS. We ended up going to the Phenix Access. We had a good time, but didn't catch any keepers.
  15. I waded up stream from the bridge Saturday, the water is very murky. I caught several small perch, sunfish, and an occasional small bass, but the highlight was a big carp. There are a lot of carp in the creek, I watched them swim by the whole trip. Since I wasn't catching anything close to keeper size I tied on a white jig on my way back toward the bridge. The carp fought pretty good and really tested my drag setting! Nothing like ending the trip with a big one.
  16. My brother-in-law are going to try to wade the Little Sac around Willard tomorrow, getting in on highway O. Neithor one of us have fished the Little Sac before, but I've been wanting to give it a try since it's so close to my house. We'll probably start walking up stream then turn around after an hour or so. Is this streach a decent bass fishing area? I concerened the water may be to low with as dry as it's been. Any info would be helpful or suggestions for other places to wade around the Ash Grove/Willard area.
  17. So if this change is saving MDC money, why the $1 "Internet Convenience Fee"? To me it's a wash, I liked the durability of the old yellow tags, but I also like the convenience of buying on line and printing the tag. I know it's just a dollar, but it really gets under my skin. They made this change for their own advantage, but yet we have to pay for it.
  18. Thanks for the info. I'm going to be fishing there for the first time in a few weeks, but spinning gear only. Do they sell trout tags like at Roaring River or do you need to have a trout stamp?
  19. Sounds like a great day on the water!
  20. I just moved to Ash Grove and did most of my hunting and fishing this year at Stockton Lake. I have a small one man layout boat that I use for duck hunting and fished out of it a few times in the smaller coves at Stockton. I was pretty pleased with the crappie, but I don't think that's to safe on big water and probalby won't go that rount any more. I'll be focusing on bank fishing and wading the creeks around Ash Grove. I work in Springfield and plan to take a few afternoons off to wade the James. Right now it's a lot of scouting and seeing whats out there, which is a lot of fun.
  21. All very good information, thanks. Definitely post up how it on the James SmallMouth
  22. With the warm up into the 60’s this week what affect do you thing this will have on the creek fishing? Will the warmer weather get them hungry and moving or would there be any affect at all? I’m thinking about wading part of the James or Sac rivers if I can get away.
  23. Hello All, I've been trolling these threads for a while now but just recently joined. Well, I've been hunting and fishing my whole life, but still feel like noob haha. There's a lot of good information and comradery here and I'm looking forward to being a part of it.
