Two Questions...keeping Fish And Trout Magnets
Jack Jones replied to MOBass's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
I think I actually have a few of those in the tacklebox. Have to dig them out again and give them a try. I don't remember how I fished them, but it wasn't like that. You're fishing them nymphing style...dead drift, huh? Any preference on colors? -
A pirate walks into a bar, and he's got a ship's wheel sticking out of his pants. The bartender sees him and asks, "Hey, what's that ship's wheel doing there?" The pirate says, "Aaarrrr, it's driving me nuts."

Okay....that made my morning. Loving the pirate jokes!!!!!!

I've been totally smoke free for about 2 years now. Prior to that I spent a good few years only smoking about 1 - 2 per day because I just couldn't let it go. Ended up getting real sick and hospitalized with a lung issue. Trust me, if you've even had surgery on or near the lungs, that will curb your desire to damage them more real quick. I stopped totally during the recovery and never looked back. However, when I'm really really stressed, or when the wind carries the scent of tobacco just right, I still crave like the devil. Then I touch the scar on my back and remember why I quit. Hang in there, it's so incredibly hard to do, and if you slip up here and there, remember that you haven't thrown it all away. Good luck!!

Curious as to what is the preferred and what is your preference on rigging?

Not wanting info on where exactly, but lower James being....below Blunks? Below Kerr, etc....?

I've never been checked. I'm not saying I would welcome it since I have a natural aversion to authority figures, but the amount of times I've been out and about, coupled with how shady I can and sometimes do look, tells me there's not enough folks out there checking.

Saw this tonight on KY3. http://www.ky3.com/news/ky3-man-found-on-stockton-lake-boat-ramp-unconscious-with-head-wound-20120606,0,6306965.story Sad to hear, and the chosen place just kind of guaranteed a quick find with a ruined day for someone.

As awful as it may sound, I would advocate a $5 per day parking (maybe $7 on weekends) for all or most of the State Parks. I mean, if 50 cars park there a day during a 6 month season that would be ($5 x 50) x 180 days = $45,000. Multiply by the four trout parks for starters and you're at $180,000. Add in the other parks like Table Rock, Pomme, etc... and you could probably cover those salaries. It would be unpopular, no doubt, but if you want the enforcement, you should have to pay. I would even consider a $3 - $5 day parking pass at some of the more popular boat launches if you want to put in. So it's completely doable, and not horribly expensive, and even at those prices the recreation would be the best deal in town.

As a former New Englander, I spent many family vacations in Gloucester/Rockport/Cape Ann. Make sure you peruse the shops at Bearskin Neck in Rockport. You can get a good meal at the Gloucester House. Actually you can get a good meal almost anywhere, LOL. I spent many afternoons on Long Beach there in Cape Ann freezing my butt off in the Atlantic Ocean. That's what I called fun, LOL! Salem is only about a 15-20 minute drive from you. Well worth wandering around and taking in a bit of the history. If you're a beer fan, the Salem Beerworks isn't half bad. If you really have time out there, Portsmouth, NH is a half hour or so north and you could hit their main drag. Cool shops, brewpubs, etc.. Finally, the outlet malls in Kittery, ME as well as Kennebunk are cool too. Bottom line, awesome area, lots to do. Just pick your hobby and enjoy it. Sometimes I miss that area so much.

It is unbelieveable. They do NOT have the authority to block the waterway and prevent people from portaging up around the dam. I have this from Ms. Fite and her chief assistant themselves.

Fly Fishing For Trout In Missouri - Book Trade

Since we jacked this thread a bit, I'll relate that last weekend I took the canoe to Hooten Town last week and had to part the waters from all the fat girls, babys, and general rednecks who were lounging on the concrete and in the water, just so I could launch a freaking canoe. They seemed ticked at ME. Same deal when I paddled back to get out. As I was leaving one redneck in his beat up pick up truck actually backed the truck down the ramp and left it there while he and the family went swimming. I wish we had a more beefed up Conservation Corp to roust these people a bit. I'm all for full access to waterways, but if you can't play nice, your butt needs to get gone. This would apply to Linden and all others. I totally understand the people at Linden not wanting to deal with that crap on a regular basis. I can only imagine how messy it gets on and near the 4th of July with all the fireworks.

What Ever Happened To The Camp Zoey Property?
Jack Jones replied to Mitch f's topic in General Angling Discussion
Yeah, and if you look at all that the mayor exempted....fruit juice, etc.. Some of the worst offenders. I oppose the seizure and forfeiture laws. I just, for once, would love to see a consistent policy come about from any government official. -
Greasy, do the bass really spook that easy? I mean, we through worms, cranks, spinnerbaits, and all other kinds of plop and splash lures and we still catch fish. I find it hard to believe a smaller, lighter size 4-6 fly would spook a smallie more than a texas rigged worm.

Craigslist Ad For Wooden Canoes And Kayaks/builder?
Jack Jones replied to Jack Jones's topic in General Chat
Yes, it was intercepted. But that's okay. Of course, now that I bought the Pack, I'm no longer in the market. I wish him well though. -
I would welcome that petition and would also like to see a speed limit on boats from Cooper Access on up to the dam. They come barreling up there too often and then immediately cut engine. It's very disturbing to the quiet fishermen.

I had a buddy who would just answer the door for salesman, Jehovah's, etc....butt naked. He'd explain he's a nudist who is comfortable in that way in his own home, that they were certainly welcome to come in and talk with him and that they need not take their clothes off. No one ever did.......

The dam that is there appears to be one of those things that's been there for a very long time. No one seems to know when it was built or who built it. As for the boulders, my understanding is that the folks at Lindenlure claim that they were left there from a construction project that they had nothing to do with. That sounds a bit hinky to me. However since they are down river from them, I imagine they weren't too worried about them. I admit, it would be interesting to determine when that dam was built and who built it. I might be willing to do the research if someone could point me in the right starting direction .

Second one looks more spider-ish to me. Would you mind explaining a bit on how you attached the legs? and also how many wraps on the body? I'm pretty new to tying and it generally has to be explained to me like a 6-yr old at this point.

Stone, if you see ANY hot young girls at BPS, be grateful. Most of those I see working are decidedly NOT! Besides, I'm usually in there for fishing stuff anyway at the SPFD store. I take an immediate right turn and avoid them. If I have to cross over, I stay far to the left, out of earshot!

Rebel Craws...love 'em Or Hate 'em?
Jack Jones replied to ozark trout fisher's topic in General Angling Discussion
Threw it tonight up from Hooten Town access. NO DICE! Still undecided on this lure. It hasn't produced for me yet. -
Rebel Craws...love 'em Or Hate 'em?
Jack Jones replied to ozark trout fisher's topic in General Angling Discussion
Al I can appreciate you using the homemade one, but assuming you didn't or couldn't make one homemade, would you then consider using the Rebel? Or would you chose something else for the shallows? -
Different Lures For Different Situations...
Jack Jones replied to Al Agnew's topic in Smallmouth Talk
Al, thanks for all of that wonderful information. I'm primarily a plastics guy. They produce and Mr. McGuire told me there was a great future in it. (IF YOU GET IT, YOU'RE OLD!!!!) However, I think I should probably expand my repetoire to top water and crank baits. Postings like yours really help.
