  1. Andy, #1 most important piece of equipment; fly rod? Nope, good camera.
  2. how far downstream from the railroad bridge can you fish till you get to the dairy farm's private water?
  3. Just flat got my butt handed to me yesterday trying to wade and czech nymph the river at sunburst and blair. water needs to drop another 200-300 cfs to do what i want to do. my fishing buddy struck out too with conventional methods. only benefit was all the eye candy coming down in bikinis. there was also a ton of floating moss coming downstream, i think disturbed by swimmers. my son, Rusty, who guides for ROLF, got his clients on fish from his drift boat, and that's how i would recommend you fish the river till it comes down. any other opinions?
  4. water shut off at midnight Sun/Mon. ran down for a while and got 22, including 2 fat 16"ers, most on white streamer. full moon. if the night is bright, the fly must be white!
  5. 10' 4 wt i bought in a kit on eBay and built myself. the seller is ro6231. have about $70 in the whole rod. plus fun to build'em. longer, lighter rods are handy for this style of nymphing.
  6. fished the river friday with my czech nymph rig and got a bunch, including a 17" rainbow. my 1st trip there with that outfit and found it very easy to learn. river needs some rain. cfs is very low.
  7. Justin, how about directions from crossroads so I can fish your place. thanks, Russ Doughty
  8. for a great guide on the NFOW you can't go wrong with Brian or Kyle, but also my son Rusty Doughty is out of ROLF. his gig is teaching newcomers to fly fish and he serves chicken n dumplings for a shore lunch! he called me the other day after a trip and his clients caught 20 fish in a half day! i'm very proud of him. every fly fishing dad would love for his son to grow up to be a guide.
  9. what's a "peppy" scud, and how do you tie one?
  10. dang Duckster, you sure know how to shore lunch! oh, nice fishin', too.
  11. ducky, if DD'S MC nails the door shut, i'm sure you two can figure out something to do!
  12. them bathroom breaks'll do it for you every time. make you feel like a new man. the fish don't stand a chance. good report Duckster
  13. Jeff the Project Healing Waters program head in S"field is a good friend of mine and I am involved as well. let me know if you need to contact us. Russ
  14. Mountain Springs (formerly Rainbow Run) trout pond near Highlandville, Mo used to keep a bunch of these. My grandsons and I used to catch 'em all the time.
  15. it would have to be son Rusty who ate the fish eggs!
  16. sorry 11-17
  17. except for 1 5 hour stretch it's been on 24/7 since noon on 10-17. i guess they'll shut it of when TR runs dry! the @#$%^&*'s!!
  18. they turned on the water at TR at noon Wed. and are scheduled to run it at least until midnight Mon. anybody got any idea why?
  19. I have a friend who lives on Anglers Pointe in Fall Creek Resorts condos, downstream from the marina. Is the lake suitable for wade fishing that far down?
  20. a fellow fly fisherman told me the other night that they had changed the power pool on TR to 917. anybody else confirm or deny that? thanks
  21. many thanks to Phil and the crew at Lilley's Landing for their generosity in hosting the annual Project Healing Waters event. a 27" rainbow took big fish honors and lots of trout were caught. thanks, too, to the guides who gave of their time and talent to guide these vets and soldiers. a great meal was served and a good time was had by all!
