  1. You might try Branson West Marine if Ulrich is not open. Ulrich has been closed on Saturdays lately unless they have changed to summer hours.
  2. So what the mercury manual calls for 100 ft/lbs to fully seat the rear bushing in the hub. It will be loose if it is not fully seated in the Tempest plus and/or Fury prop.
  3. Mercury 225 Pro XS is an 1-1/16 nut and it is torqued to 100 Ft lbs
  4. Ok thanks, I'll give them a call..
  5. The model number on the serial tag usually has the HP stamped on it. The insurance company usually don't like to insure an over powered boat due to the liability of failure of the boat with a bigger motor than its rated for. So check with you insurance company before buying.
  6. Got a question, Does anyone know of any tackle shop in the Tablerock Lake area that sells the Keitech Swing Impact 3.5 swim bait?
  7. It was a fish catching day on the James below Cape Fair Marina. My son and I put in around 12:30 pm and fished till 5:30 pm. We caught 25 to 30 blacks with over half of them were good 2-1/2 to 3 lb keepers one after another. They were a mix of Kentucky's, small mouth, & largemouth, we used a small swim bait with a 1/4 - 1/8 oz ball and darter head jigs in about 10 to 15 ft of water just touching the bottom and falling into the channel. We kept the boat in 50 to 60 ft on main lake points next to the river channel. The surface temp 48 to 50 degs with a very slight color in the water. The fishing and catching was great this afternoon..
  8. I'd go to Aunts Creek, I live here at Cape Fair and it is muddy and trash. Wasn't too bad below Piney. It will travel on down so thats why I would put in at Aunts Creek and run up if you are a mind to. The fishing was great but the catching left a little to be desired nary a keeper.. But there's always tomorrow.....
  9. There's one thing for sure the spoonbill are showing up on the down scan view on my HDS-10 Gen2 this time of the year. There's no mistaken their image of the graph. The spoonbill really needs the river to rise to get them really heading up stream. Maybe they will get the rain to raise the river this weekend. Watch out for the logs and trash if it does, there's a flood watch on for this weekend...
  10. Aunts Creek hands down is one of the best place to start.
  11. My Z8 with a 225 pro xs with a 25 Fury which came on the boat new ran 71-72 GPS speed with a fat old man & son, our tackle and 20 gals of fuel. The water/wind conditions will affect speed up or down a few mph either way on the GPS. The speedometer will bounce between 75-80 it is a by golly pressure gauge which are notorious for inaccuracy in indicating speed (got me warning speeding ticket one evening a couple years ago).
  12. You can order the step from Tracker Marine in Springfield. I ordered one for my 2011 Z8 trailer last week. I was given part number 180027 Kit, Nitro W/S Step, BLK:AMP. MSRP $199.88
  13. My first fishing pole was a willow stick with a string tied around the end, a bobber, & a hook tied on the end of the string. That rig caught many pan fish on the upper James river above Marshfield. My grandfather is the man that got me hooked on the quest to go after our Finney friends over 66 years ago.... It's amazing our equipment has progressed over the years.....
  14. Goto LurePartsonline.com, they will have the multi-strand and single strand weed guards. I prefer the multi-strand myself.
  15. I prefer the Nanofil over a braid but either will work for me due to no line memory twist which is problematic with mono or straight fluorocarbon line on a spinning reel. If you ever had a loop develop off the spool on a cast then you know how much of a problem it can be to remove. I have never had Nanofil line to do this. Braid yes but very seldom, fluorocarbon and mono very frequently and these has line twist problems which contributes to the loop problems. I will say that tieing a leader on in the wind can be a pain but if you use a good knot like an albright and do it right you leader will break either at the hook or on a frayed spot on your leader. So check your line often and retie if needed and a 6 ft leader will last for a good many casts and fish..I always tie a new leader on before each trip.
  16. I have found that dead sticking the varmint will get you a lot of fish. I also watch my line for any suttal changes along with feel as I retrieve will produce a good number of fish. I use 10 lb Nano-fill line with 6 ft of a 6 lb fluorocarbon leader on a 6-1/2 ft medium light action fast tip rod with a Lew's 200TSH reel with 1/16oz jig head. You really don't set the hook, just a good pull will do the job..
  17. Does anyone know who does alignments of boat trailers around the Branson area??
  18. Being we are looking at boat trailer tires I have a question on tire wear. My Nitro Z8 boat trailer seems to wear or drag the tires and they are wearing on the outside of the tires. It is a twin axle trailer and the right side tear axle tire seems to wear first. The longest trip I have pulled this trailer is a couple of trips to Pomme-De-Terre lake. Most of the trips are about a couple of miles to the ramp at Cape Fair. The trailer is 4 years old and I think the tread wear is just being dragged off. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to avoid this type of wear or reduce it???? I am going to have to buy another set of tires and really don't wear them out in a few miles. So if there is no solution other than cheap tires.
  19. You can go to any farm store and pickup a syringe with needle will work great....
  20. You need to fizz em, that is done by deflating their air bladder using a needle. If you don't know how I'm sure you can find the methods on this board and/or on the internet.
  21. My 2010 Mercury 225 Pro XS has no trim tab..... When you trim the motor up the trim tab has no function anyway.
  22. I had a 1983 350V Ranger which my son has now and the steering cables have never been changed. So with that longevity I would stay with cables because of cost of hydraulic verses replacement cables. My new boat has hydraulic and see no real advantage with hydraulic over cables. The one thing with hydraulic steering is the centering position of the steering wheel changes.
  23. The notorious Lake Ozark-area speed trap of Mack’s Creek angered MO state lawmakers enough they passed a law almost 20 years ago limiting the percent of a community’s budget that could be financed with traffic tickets. The law has been tightened since then and an even lower limit has been set. The attorney general of MO. is going to audit the following court systems for violations of this law are: Mosby, Leadington, Linn Creek, Foristell, Winfield, Foley, Ferguson, St. Ann, Bella Vista, and Pine Lawn. If more than 30 percent of a city’s budget comes from traffic violations, the city must refund the overage to the state. If it doesn't, the state can end the municipal court’s authority to handle those tickets. So maybe some of the municipal court’s are going to get their wings clipped..
  24. Most of the small towns around here are that way. Ozarks finest watch 65 highway like hawks. Good old Macks Creek made the national news a few years ago on being the speed trap capitol of the USA.
  25. You might try this link http://www.ozarksfishin.com it worked for me....
