Went to sons creek today and stopped at traders in greenfield for bait then launched round 930 started late I know but we slept in but caught big slabs in 15 fow vertical jigging minnows around standing timber and caught 6 keeper crappie and two whites by noon

went up the sons creek arm today searching for crappie and found them in 20 fow around brush piles caught 15 total with 10 keepers and 2 surprise whites vertical jigging minnows close to the bottom

We are looking for some idea where to start looking any help out there

Well there is no ramp access for Springfield lake anymore unless you're taking a flat bottom John in the back of a truck and even then you can only have a 6 horse

We need some rain before they will be up at the shoals

Way to early and not enough water in the system

Well it was until we hit the strong head wind on the last paddle lol then it was just a crazy workout

Drove down to blunks with my fishing buddy to float from blunks to walnut springs and had a great day on the water my buddy hooked a real nice brownie down by McCord bend and then after that we got into some whites and he hooked something that stripped half his spool of line and then broke off I told him it was either a big white or it was a walleye and then we both floated down to the last bend by the bluff and then had to paddle in to a hard head wind caught a real nice female white while we were resting but all in all a great day the baits of choice were a hellgramite plastic jig and rooster tails and crappie sliders

Went out a little late and walked up and down a small stretch of crane and got a small guy to come up for his picture

Yep and like he said you don't need a big fancy one cus this is the one I have rigged up its the humminbird portable and it's a dual beam with temp and works wonders

Yep and the story goes that the next state record smallie is swimming somewhere in the lake

Hit up Springfield lake this morning had a great day all bites were a top water bugs bites had a few strikes on a zoom horny toad but the big bass of the day was 22 inches on the 8th ounce Booyah buzz bait all in all a great day at close to 85 inches in a five fish limit
