I used to love shark week many years ago. i gave it another shot last night and then I quickly realized why I stopped paying attention to it 5 or so years ago. I wish they would take a few episodes and focus on certain shark species that are rarely, or if ever, discussed. Great Whites, Bull Sharks, Tiger Sharks, Shark Attacks, Shark survivors, breaching whites...and on and on and on...same old topics recycled, regurgitated and glossed over with Ripley Scottesque production...all in the name of fear and shock value. That is just my .02 cents...Your mileage my vary. that episode last night was attrocious

Great Smallies, Trout Were Few, A Long Saga...
E Green replied to Nortrad's topic in Eleven Point River
amazing looking smallies! great pics -
all I ever use are crankbaits. I have other stuff but i think it is a confidence thing and lack of patience on my part. that 2 3/4 inch original rapala with black back and silver sides that Al talked about is my go to. I mostly fish 10 mile creek which is a wade stream so I usually use topwater or 2-4 foot diving crank baits. I need to mix it up more.

I have an online photo album of the Ozarks that seems to get quite a bit of traffic from my family and friends back home and in the other states i have lived in. One person saw some of my photos and then asked me a specific question about this region. I thought I would post the question here and see if I could get him.her some info/answers. Thank you very much.... OhioGrown>>> Since you spend a lot of time outdoors in the Ozarks I have a question for you... I have been out to Missouri 4 times now on Trout fishing/ camping trips and I have seen these strange occurrences on each trip... green glowing eyes on the ground...mostly associated with wet conditions(my last adventure in Oct. 2012 was nearly a wash out)...and then glowing rocks...I have only seen the glowing rocks once down near Montauk and the eyes I have seen from Montauk to Merramec and then at the Zoe festival site 5 years ago... Anyway, have you ever seen the green eyes or glowing rocks and what causes these phenomena?? Any ideas?? Thanks and Cheers!!

there is a Cottonmouth in the first two pictures but it is hard to see. You can make out the body of the snake in the center of the picture lying against the roots along the bank. That was scary. I was walking upstream on 10 Mile Creek and I never even saw it until it rubbed against my leg as it passed me by. I completely froze and stood there staring at it for about a minute (felt like an hour..haha) before I built up the nerve to move on. Of course I had to come back with my camera to try and get a shot...haha at that time, all you could see of the snake was what I got in the picture and that was good enough...haha The rest of these are from 10 Mile Creek and another short hike at mingo the other day.....

The first snake in question is a very young broad banded watersnake (Otter Slough Wildlife Mgmt Area). The other snake you asked about is indeed a speckled Kingsnake (Elephant Rocks State Park).
