I would move towards more finesse baits. Something like a ned rig, shakey head or drop shot. They're are lots of videos on YouTube for reference. Crankbaits are great in the right scenario, but I find that my best luck comes with wind and the trolling motor going high so I can cover lots of ground. That might be harder in a kayak.

I'm no expert, but your walter looks like a sauger to me. Hard to tell without seeing if there is white on the tail or not.

Just heard that Baxter Marina gas was mostly water for a portion of the day yesterday. Anyone else hear the same?

It was pretty stingy to me, but that's not usually the case!

Picked up this guy in the back of Music on 3/10/18. No doubt an escapee from last year's floods. Wasn't sure if I needed a trout permit or not, so back he went.

Vexus boats. I heard they were looking to purchase Legend and JM got word so he bought legend.

It's out of Long Creek Marina, sounds like big cedar is hosting. I'd guess 200 boats, I'm not sure how they will park/launch that many from there.

I'll just add that Johnny ain't buying these with cash. Moody's keeps downgrading BPS llc credit rating. Which to me indicates he's financing these purchases with holdings companies. He's losing ground on both assets on the books and cash on hand. We'll see, but I think some of these iconic brands will fade with time. On the up side, they'll be an open area for mom And pop companies to fill the market space. Hopefully we'll see some new boat builders come up. Building two fiberglass pieces and gluing them together isn't something with a whole lot of barriers to entry.

I ventured out Saturday afternoon with the plan on fishing until dark. I thought with most schools starting or started and the overcast conditions, it might be light traffic. Wrong. Put in at Aunt's Creek and ran to the mouth of the James. Found a few, but this one really stuck out. I didn't weigh it, but probably be around 4. Seemed very healthy other than is upper lip.

Is there a place to get minnows between Springfield and Crabtree?

I wouldn't say one area holds more than other areas. But depending on what technique and water clarity you feel most confident with should determine the area you head to. I caught some decent Largemouth flipping tree tops with 25# line and a broomstick this weekend. Most boats were pulled off the bank though.

Cormorants are the next snow geese. They are overpopulated and causing some major destruction at Reelfoot lake in TN. http://archive.commercialappeal.com/sports/outdoors/cormorants-killing-reelfoot-lakes-famed-cypress-trees-357b3ef6-02e7-5ac9-e053-0100007f3dd1-383525171.html

Took the wife out Saturday and was beating the bank with a square bill. Stumbled upon this guy. He was sitting between two big rocks and I saw him hit it. My first walleye big enough to keep. My measuring board wasnt big enough, but someone with mdc stopped and asked how we had been doing and was taking some kind of survey. He had a bigger board and it went 25.75". Had a few other short largemouth and big drum.

I'm not convinced that the bass in Taney can be compared to those in CA. Those lakes out west got (I think CA stocking program is on hold) weekly plants of bows throughout the lake. Taney does get a continuous stream of hatchers but most/all are from the one spot and the coldest part of the lake. I think the big browns have most of the dumb ones thinned out before they get to the bass territory. Yes, I know bass are all over the lake and bass definitely do eat trout. But, it's not the exact same situation as they have in CA.

http://www.news-leader.com/story/news/local/ozarks/2015/06/07/boaters-hikers-will-affected-modot-lane-project/28664353/ There is another boat ramp in the park, by the boathouse, but I think you are not allowed to put anything other than canoes or kayaks in there? Correct me if I'm wrong. I'll be going to the meeting tonight to voice my concerns that the boat ramp needs to be accessible or other options need to be opened.

I know. No boats allowed on McD. It's owned by the city. Probably wasn't in sight of the bridge and didn't have much to worry about. Just because they butt up to the lake doesn't give them anymore privelage to a city owned property. Not that I wouldn't do the same if I lived on the lake.

I'm way late to this party. I see what both sides are saying. Right now I only have a jon with a tm, it does kind of irk me when I see a 20' bass boat out there but, I will have a nicer boat someday and would like to be able to fish after work some evenings. I'm surprised no one has mentioned fellows or McD. Don't even ask to put anything over 40 on Fellows without them flipping open the ticket book. The lake is plenty big enough for the bigger boats, but it is much more enforced than Lake Springfield. McD would be perfect for kayakers etc. And you can only fish off of two bridges? Yeah, I know it's our water supply and it's different....bull. All this said, both the lakes on the north side have huge earth dams. Lake Springfield has a 80 year old spillway. I don't want some idiot putting in their tri hull, running it too close to the dam (only one or two buoys), flipping over the side and shutting down the power plant for a couple months. I'm good with a six horse restriction (10 would be better). All these scenarios given are harmless but what about the guy in the big boat that decides no one else is on the lake so he can idle fast and comes around the corner and swamps me? Or it's about to rain so you want to get back to the ramp with the big motor. Or your trolling motor craps out because it's a long way from 65 to the dam? Yeah, in a world where everyone was honest this wouldn't be a problem. Four Rivers let's any sized motor on, but anything over 10 is idle only. Every year someone gets swamped in pool 4. Schell is the same and the biggest pool can have four boats max and people still get swamped.

Thanks for posting the good news! They have some good deals.

We went up the Kings this morning in search of some walleye, but we didn't have much luck. About 8:30 we saw quite a few gulls diving so we went to investigate. We found some whites busting shad and were able to catch 11 of them. There were a few LM's mixed in with them which added to the excitement. It would be pretty hot and heavy for 5 mins, then dead, then on fire, then dead...... We were not too far up the kings. It was a cold, but exciting morning. All of the fish were stuffed with eggs and shad. I attached a pic of a couple of the better ones.

We were planning on going to stockton this morning, but I saw that most ramps were still froze as of yesterday. So, we decided to go to shell knob. Fished right across from the boat ramp because of the fog and had a bite on a shakey head and shad rap, both came off right before we could see them. Then we went down west of 23 and had a real good time in one of the big coves. There was a stretch where we caught 4 keepers and had another 2 come off. Caught all but one on a kinami grub and the other one came on a hula grub. We were very pleased to even get a bite. Once the sun came out it was pretty much done. I attached a pic of the big fish. Wish this weather would stick around.

Thinking about going duck hunt in the morning and was wondering if it was frozen west of the 39 at Son's Creek or back in the back of Greaser Creek? Thanks

Yes, typically I find that they move shallow when the waters rising. I like to throw reaction innovation beavers in the buck brush and also I like strike king's frogs. Then, as the water falls the little ones stay shallow and the big ones move out. Some people hate fishing high lake levels, I happen to love flipping when the lake is rising. I will be there monday with my 30lb line and broomstick looking for the big ones.

I went in between the storms on the 23rd. Fished from about noon till 3. I had 5 bass. Caught all of them on a summer craw colored jig with a 5" yamamoto craw trailer. The biggest ones (barely keepers) were closer to the main lake. I feel that there should have been a spinnerbait bite, but I couldn't fish the appropriate banks because of the wind.
