  1. To be honest I don't think it matters weekend or weekday anymore for the jet boats... No offense to those that have them, but I never float that stretch anymore due to the amout of boat traffic. Some of the best water in America though... Glad you had a good trip.
  2. Hate when it turns my pic sideways but you get the idea.
  3. Just to get the juices flowing a bit... Took my 1 year old lab to the lake to practice... Can't wait to get birds in his mouth!
  4. Looks like they are going to let us shoot 6 instead of 4 this year... I happy but surprised. September 7-22... Can't wait to take the new dog and get a few fast flyers... It will be here before we know it!
  5. Put in at Ebb&Flow Spring... Not a traditional access, but you can put in there.
  6. Floated on Wednesday and only saw 5 boats total... We floated from just above Rymers to Bay Creek... River is getting shallow fast... We walked several schutes due to either low water or brush in the way... We also like to walk them to fish them better... Fishing wasn't spectacular, but wasn't bad. Caught two fish over 2lbs and caught several 3/4-1lb fish. Just didn't catch the number of fish we usually catch, but it was the day after 2 cold fronts came through.
  7. To be honest if it wasn't for the Brittany I don't think I would have such an issue... She did this about a year and a half ago and took my old lab with her. That lab never left the yard for more than 5 mins... The new lab is the same. He never leaves my side unless the Brittany is out...
  8. Starting on Saturday of last week, I had let my 3 year old Brittany and my 6 month old Lab out for a little exercise while I worked on my boat. I was heading down to put them up when the Brittany decided to take off with the lab right behind. Once they were gone for an hour I began driving the roads around my house looking. I spent everyday at some point looking for them, even during the ice storm. Talked with lots of people who were watching for me as well. I was to the point that I figured they had been picked up or were dead, when I received a call yesterday around noon that they had showed up at a house. The interesting part is that they had run 15 miles by the way a crow flies from my house... I am so very grateful for the gentleman that called and grateful that they were both ok... They were a little skinny and the Brittany is very skunky but otherwise ok... No more runs for them unless I have a leash on the Brittany... Also thank God for answered prayers!
  9. Awesome!!! Great pics and always good to see your reports.
  10. Would like to go one time... But, would have to drive a bit to get to a good spot...
  11. MH where in the Black do you hunt? I am familiar with that area a bit and have a good friend I hunt with often down there... If I wasn't leaving for a business trip on Sunday, I would be closing out the season right in the middle if it... I like to read about the dry field hunts, due to the fact I have never been on a hunt like that... It looks fun when it is good. But have to say hunting the timber is where my heart wants to be... Absolutely love it!!! Just wish I was closer to take advantage of it more often.
  12. My addition goes along with # of decoys. You don't need a bunch of spinning wing decoys... Most of the time they hurt more than they help...
  13. I have been fortunate enough to hunt just north of St. Louis, Southern IL, and Northeast Arkansas... They all have their advantages and they all hold a ton of birds depending on the weather... I don't think you can compare them due to several factors that is controlled by Mother Nature and only by her... Just my two cents.
  14. Amen to that Fins and Feathers!!!
  15. Sorry for your loss... Had to lay my my lab to rest bak in June. She was the first dog I had ever bought on my own. One of the toughest things I have ever went through! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
  16. I remember one accident similar that happened at Dave Donaldson a few years ago when same type of accident happened. Trying to kill a cripple from a boat when a person raised up in front of the gun. Sad situation and prayers for all that were affected. That is the only accident that I have heard of that was not a boating accident or health related .
  17. Congrats!!! Looks like a great party!
  18. Thanks for sharing and great hunt!!! Glad you could get on them!
  19. Can't wait to hear the whole story!
  20. My plan was to hunt this morning, but due to the fact I am sick again it didn't happen. Could be the least I have hunted since I was to young to go...
  21. Merry Christmas to all!!! Hope you have a wonderful time with friends and family over the holidays!!! Here's hoping for a good hunt along the way!
  22. I don't think all the ducks have passed... Too many reports of lots of ducks in the Dakotas still. Wish I could have went this morning, but had to work. Hoping for a heavy flood so I can visit a buddy over Christmas in Arkie land and hammer some green in the timber.
  23. Looks like I will wait till next weekend... Hope it gets better soon.
  24. Had two great days in the middle zone yesterday and today. Saw lots of ducks, and saw more mallards than I have seen in a wile. (At least in this part of the country.) Most of the ducks yesterday stayed just out of range, but this morning was better. Killed two Mallards and two Gadwalls. Great morning to be out.
  25. Didn't make it out this morning too foggy... Dad said not much movement due to the thick fog.... Can't wait to get a good strong cold front to move through and send some birds down.... Have a great week everyone.
