  1. We did not. We fished a few areas that a friend had caught fish earlier, then made our way towards clearer water.
  2. Gravois was chocolate color on Saturday. Unable to find any Crappie in the dirty water. Had to get out on the main lake to find clearer water.
  3. Nice job Alex!
  4. Good job Alex!
  5. Great pics. Wish we could see the teal in full plumage during season! That would be a bucket list duck for me.
  6. I would love to hunt the creeks in Montana! It looks so fun with big fat Mallards dropping in with everything around frozen. I also agree with Birdwatcher, every hunt I get to do with my Dad is a hunt of a lifetime. I have been very fortunate to hunt flooded timber in Arkansas since I was a kid and it is very hard to beat doing that wih my Dad and our friends!
  7. I will never use a shock collar period!!! Now granted I have wanted to a few times with my Brit, but never will. I guess personal opinion, but have felt that way since they came along. My dogs do stay outside, but they get out and play with the kids all the time. Also, if weather is like it has been, they have spent lots of time inside. With our crazy schedules it is hard to leave them in all the time. That is my two cents Billet.
  8. From sunsets in the field to sunsets over water, from piles of ducks to dinner being served, and two spoiled dogs. It has been a fun fall and winter!
  9. Long season, but hate to see it end. Until next year;). Time to chase some Thunder Chickens and all kinds if fish!
  10. Wish I was closer to the Rock!!! Kill'em boys and girls!!!
  11. I haven't been on a hunt that we have limited out with just green in a long time. As hard as we try brown will still fall. Was a very good morning and another great memory!
  12. Picture of our first day in Arkansas. All green and one woodie.
  13. First two days of hunting in Arkansas were a success, then today we tried a new spot and got skunked! Overall a great trip. First day we had a four man limit with nothing but green heads! Almost too much water at this time! Hope to go back, but that will depend on work!
  14. Will be on the Black starting tomorrow! Can't wait! Merry Christmas!
  15. It has become real quiet on the board! Either everyone is busy killing or busy spending time with family and friends for the Christmas season. I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Getting ready to head to NE Arkansas for a few days to hunt the overflow! I think I am more excited about that than my small kids are for Christmas Morning! Again Merry Christmas!!!
  16. Awesome Job!!
  17. One of the funniest cripple chases I have ever seen involved a small cave, a cripple bw teal, and a very determined Golden Retriever. From where we teal hunt it is about 300-400 yards across te lake to the other bank. It was one of those perfect early teal season mornings and we were able to shoot limits, but had a couple cripples swim across the lake on us. We hopped in the boat and drove across and began walking the bank. Found one cripple and killed him, then the second hopped into the water and we couldn't get a shot due to the retriever being in line with the duck. The teal swam into a rock hole and the golden followed it into he hit his back hips. He couldn't go any further and the duck was about 6 inches to a foot in front of his nose... He got so mad and frustrated it almost became comical. There was nothing we could do to reach te duck and it took both my dad and myself to drag the dog back to the boat and I had to hold onto him as we pulled away or else he would have jumped back into the lake and went back to the hole. That is one of the hardest yet unsuccessful cripple chases I have ever been on and the other chase was the most expensive. I was around 13 or 14 and was hunting flooded timber in Arkansas. We knocked down a drake and of course he began swimming. My buddy shot him or at him 4 more time and he finally died. (Or so we thought). We were working a bother big flight when I looked up and the drake had raised his head and began swimming away again. 4 more shots and he finally didn't swim anymore. As a kid I thought this was one of the funniest things I had ever seen. It was fairly expensive and the expletives coming out of the mouths of my father and buddy were a scream!
  18. Glad everyone is having good hunts. Looks like a lot of fun. Happy belated Thanksgiving everybody!
  19. Better to be 2 hours early than 5 mins late... My father's favorite line!
  20. Anyone hunt opening weekend in the Middle Zone? Hunted opening day killing 2 green wings. Should have killed more but poor shooting and and a couple missed opportunities screwed it all up. Only saw two groups of big ducks. Lots of teal around though! Good luck through the rest of the season.
  21. My Dad is up there now... Will post if he let's me know how they are doing. Bucket list trip for me, hopefully someday I can make the voyage. First trip there for him but his buddies have been going for awhile now.
  22. Finished up putting brush on the blind and setting out the rest of our decoys today... Probably 250 ducks on the water as we arrived. Teal, Gadwall, and Shovelors for sure.... Could have been others... Hope they stay around for another 6 days or so.
  23. We also had a good day. Wish I would have been able to go on Friday. Not a bad season numbers wise even though I only got to hunt twice! Come on big duck season.
  24. Did mange to kill 6 this morning... Saw lots of big groups but couldn't get them to work... Had one group of 8 come in the decoys and the 3 guns shooting did a fine job shooting. On a sad note, my lab I have been working with proved today he is gun shy. I already knew this but was hoping that seeing ducks and associating gun fire with them might fix the issue... He will make a great pet for my kids so I am happy he is a good dog.
  25. Looking forward to a great year!!! First year for the new pup, but have a small fear of gun shyness... Will know more tomorrow! Hope it turns out to be no fear at all.
