Did 8lbs of rib roast in the oven Chistmas eve. Might be doable in my 24Q stock pot. May require a stove top burner assist occasionally. At least to get to initial temp.
No peas, black eyed or green in this house. Did a batch of cowboy beans (pintos, chiles & ham hocks, etc) to go with the carnitas next weekend. Currently making jambalaya.
Basic minnow/shad colors work the best. Like Lucky Craft’s Pearl Shad color allot but it is impossible to find these days. Usually fish the LC Slender Pointer (all sizes, but 112 is best) or Mega 110 & 110 JR.
Glenn, I have invited you to float with the WFT before but you declined. Don't dog us for our accumulation of toys & winter camping knowledge. Sleep outside in a tent for the next 3 days and tell us how it works for you.
Played with the new instapot today. Pete will not like, but it turned out a good Carnitas base in about 40 minutes! About 12lbs of pork in that 8qt pot.
We season vac pac and freeze allot. Throw the frozen block in the pot, it thaws, it cooks, no need to do separately. 135 is too hot for beef. 120 is better, minute a side in hot black iron should hit rare.
Buffalo has a 10hp limit so forget about the jet boats. You will need to check the level on the USGS gauge at Harriet to see if you have enough flow. There are not many springs on the Buffalo, so its highly rain dependent. Good luck.
Did not bother with pics, been cooking all weekend. Rib Roast, turkeys, pancakes, lots of sides. Gotta work in the AM. Will be a nice break. Leftovers surprise should be good.
Mostly fish Megabass or Lucky Crafts, Duo Realis makes some nice baits, as does Evergreen. Smithwick Rogues and the old Excalibur XS4's are good too. Never have done well with the McSticks or RC STX baits. Mostly on spinning tackle with 2lb diameter suffix braid and a 8-12lb leader, 8lb mono if below freezing.
