  1. TC is on the ball...the lightweight looks like a Mich Ultra drinker.... I like my PBR....its cheap....some flavor...good yardwork beer..better than most mass marketed swill in a can....The Stone IPA I'm sipping on right now is on the opposite end of the bell curve...Its darn good!
  2. You can get most of what is in the Paddlers Guide for free....at www.missouricanoe.org look under maps...A paddler's guide is still a must have though...keep one in your vehicle, one in the loo, and an extra copy in the bookcase. Cheers.
  3. Nice report..and thats one heck of a rainbow from that other creek. Good for you!
  4. Colorado..I'd rank it above Arkansas because the scenery & amenities are a heck of allot better. Unfortunately, the CO stream access laws are all jacked up. I've fished some of the name waters and some creeks out there......RMNP aint bad, but the Gunnison is the only one that I'd care to go back too...Thinking that Utah or the 4 corners area seems to appeal to me more than CO.
  5. Depends on how you rate it....I can have fun anywhere as long as I like the people, next comes the place, then the fishing (Wild Fish preferred). If it just comes down to places and fishing.... 1. Mountain West-Montana/Wyoming/Idaho 2. Pacific Northwest-Washington & Oregon 3. N. California 4. Michigan 5. Missouri-Free Flowing Streams Still lots of places I want to visit...the Driftless, the Catskills, Maine. Cheers.
  6. Great video Brian!
  7. Dont know of one...but Simms, Patagonia make some waterproof back packs that wont leak all over your back...SeaLine makes some great roll top dry bags that might do the same thing... FWIW...its getting hot...might as well toss a bag of ice and your 6 in any day pack...insulate it off your body a bit with a towel or something, toss your tackle on in the outer pockets and enjoy the built in A/C. Never done that before.
  8. Thats a honey of a rod...but sure you put the raffle up on the classic fly rod forum...
  9. The hopper, beetle, ant program works well down there....Long leaders if its low & clear, toss em under stuff, and bounce them off the bluff faces. Foam flies are great at times...but they float higher than stuff tied with natural materials...As for beetles....Its impossible to top a Jarosik Beetle....Jerry doesnt tie anymore...but his beetle is a stunner...I save the dozen or so I have left for for big picky fish that have refused other offerings. Al Borisaw, did a pretty good tutorial on the Jarosik Beetle...The ones I tie are pretty good...but they arent as good as Jerry's IMO. http://www.ozarkflyfishers.org/fly/printfly/crowebeetle.pdf Cheers.
  10. Profit? Hah...I did make a nice profit on the feathers but there is still a fly shop worth of stuff in the basement. Lets just call it a return of sunk costs.
  11. Take a picture or two and put it on ebay...its easy.
  12. Pickins are slim at Roy's, Possum Corner, and the Three Legged Mule...best of luck too you though...
  13. Sold over $2000 worth of extra's..and still have plenty left....Cash in if you have more than you need.
  14. Sounds like great boat fishing...cept for the pressence of stripers....Thanks for the report...Wish I could make it down to put a hurt on em.
  15. ....Dunno....Mountain Lion, Sasquatch...probably not a bear...maybe Gollum from the Lord of the Rings, touched in the head hill people, or a tweeked out meth head. I wouldnt go back.
  16. Lane Spring is about 13 miles upstream of the Newburg Guage so allot could have happened...maybe it rained hard on Newburg & not above Lane Spring....There are several tributaries between Lane & Newburg as well. There are no hard & fast rules...The best ones are those that you develop through your own personal experience. Cheers.
  17. Ditto on the water....and I'd leave the rooster tails at home if you hit it again...A friend has some access about 9 miles above Reiker and topwater is usually the name of the game up there once it gets hot..Buzzbaits & Walking plugs are great.....No takers...try a 5.25" fluke or a 1/4oz short arm spinnerbait...no takers......1/8-3/8ozJigs & Plastics on the bottom...Have fun.
  18. http://www.craftcans.com/db.php Lots of brewery's are canning these days...Caldera is pretty darn good.
  19. My camp kit is usually well stocked. Doubt that I'll die of thirst....
  20. Chris's dad Paul fits that description..50 something, thin..Chris is a second year law student at MU. Very good fly fisherman & fly tyer. He used to work for Tom Hargrove part time, and he's done a couple summer's worth of guiding out in Idaho.
  21. That's a real bummer...Hope they reported it to the NPS.
  22. Good for you...and thanks for the report!
  23. Thats just nuts! Its great when you get a couple days like that...and glad to see that rainbow eating monster headed to the grill.
  24. I've parked at Vida a few times but its been a few years. At the time, it appeared that public uses was tolerated on the north side because of all the of empty barley soda's laying around. To be honest...I'd rather float the lower end from the goat farm down to I-44. Smallmouth mostly but the occassional trout.
  25. Need to look at our calendar...but I'm gonna try to make it...maybe head down Thursday or Friday, head home early Sunday.
