  1. You are nit picking Drew. Dan offered you some signage if you want some....If not, carry on.
  2. Nah...Fishing in the the chum line would make things too easy. Have fun.
  3. If you have your heart set on catch & release only regulations you are going to be disappointed. MDC wont propose them. You might as well accept that as gospel and ask for something that you can get.
  4. I really dont care at this point....MDC seems to have allot invested this go around, but I'm not getting my hopes up until I see a concrete proposal. Carry on.
  5. Back in Al's first post...it said 70% of those surveyed were in favor of tighter regulations. That is encouraging!
  6. Keep your shirt on, Ha! It will be warm this year.bring some good beads.
  7. Ozark streams contain two primary species of craw...The Golden & the Spothanded Craw...the spot hands run allot bigger than the goldens, and they tend to hang deeper and on bigger rocks... They have an olive brown carpace & tan belly.. If your fishing Table Rock, I beleive the Long pincered crawfish is very common..and there are some very localized populations in other places. You can check them out here. Note that most of the spothanded craws that I see appear to be darker with more subtle rusty red colored banding than the one pictured. http://mdc.mo.gov/di...rpions/crayfish .
  8. Heading down for the parade tomorrow. Anyone else?
  9. Thanks Larry...thats pretty cool...I'm glad to hear that all options are still open.
  10. Missed the meeting last night Mitch...I'm sure you were taking notes;>)! Anything noteable?
  11. Caldera makes some fine canned beers, pricey, but very good.
  12. I'd bring a few patterns with an orange tag on the back. Chico's bonefish special, Snapping Shrimp, and F-C sand shrimp jrs...various weights...none, bead chain, small barbells. Have fun!
  13. Dats funny... I dont have too many complaints with MDC Fisheries..The smallmouth & brown trout regs need a tuneup...MDC's Wildlife is a piece of work...The duck hunters have very some good reasons to hate on those folks.
  14. Walking into the aftermath of the Kirkwood Courthouse Massacre....thats pretty rough. Pack if you want to, dont if you dont. I'm not worried.
  15. There is a recipe in this months OFF newsletter..its back a couple of pages. http://www.ozarkflyfishers.org/newsletters/y2012/January%202012%20Newsletter.pdf
  16. Sunday to Friday is a good plan to avoid the jet boaters & floaters. Too many rivers to cross down that way for a 6 day trip. If I had 2-3 weeks...I'd probably do Buffalo> Crooked Creek> North Fork of the White> Bryant Creek> Eleven Point> Jacks Fork> Current...If I had to pare it down...Buffalo> Eleven Point (Alton, MO)> Jack's Fork & Current (Eminence, MO).
  17. Youll be fine with a 7wt...but I've been know to use an 8 or 9wt at times...Make sure your hooks are sharp (most store bought poppers have dull hooks) and strip strike like Ron described...no trouty hooksets.
  18. Wear waders on those brush infested little creeks in the summertime...it really cuts down on the ticks, chiggers, & P.I...Stealth is key, and high water helps...good place to go if the Meramec is blown out.
  19. Looking forward to it...see you there.
  20. Dabblemont really has it in for the MDC...and I dont know why. His fanatacism does nothing for his credibility, IMO....I enjoy his hunting & fishing stuff but I usually ignore his MDC rants when I run across one.
  21. I agree, I'm sure the Jim Rogers pays some hefty concession fees to operate his business in the park and these outfitters have not been paying for pick up and drop off priveledges. I dont think that they should be barred from picking up their customers in the park but they should be paying the park something in order to do so. The owner of NRO wants to negotiate...so I'd bet that something gets worked out...I'd only cry fowl if the park refused to negotiate or made unreasonable demands from these businesses.
  22. Guess the fee depends on who owns the land...MDC, DNR, Forest Service, National Park Service...and there is quite a bit of paperwork involved. I dont think that MDC charges...but their revenue stream isnt subject to the whims of the political class. The state parks allow the possession and consumption of alchohol but you cant have an open container in certain areas...Parking lots, swimming areas, etc.
  23. It is a convience for both...but the outfitters on the Current & Jack's pay concession fees to conduct business in the ONSR. Outfitters on the Niangua should pay to for their use of Bennett.
  24. I'm surprised that they were allowed to pick up and drop off w/o paying for the priveledge.
  25. Open Carry works for the Military and Law enforcement, but your taking a risk if you are in civi's. People dont have a context to identify you so the freak out...Dork with gun is about the best read that you can hope for;>)!
