  1. I really dont care how surly you are on line..Go Cards!
  2. You might want to check out the Jackson Coosa...it similar to the Ride 115 but with a few more features...Another option would be the swap meet at the Alpine Shop in Kirkwood this weekend...Might be able to pick up a good used boat for less.
  3. He does great work...he's repaired a few of mine over the years.
  4. I cant really tell much about the rod...the reel seat looks like one on an old Fenwick rod that my dad used to have...As for value...probably not much. $75 or so..youll get your best price on ebay. Good luck.
  5. Yeah...why does he want to trash it? Thats a nice fresh one....but I've seen Ness ready to abandon a perfectly good canoe before !
  6. Enjoyed the vid Brian..FWIW, I've tried for them a few times and come up Zero.... The only Musky I ever hooked ate a 3" long sparkleminnow on 3x. Bit tugged a bit, then bit me off....At least we got a good look at it when it jumped in attempt to dislodge the fly.
  7. Nice find! I usually slice those up and cook them with some wild rice in chicken stock, or toss them in the gumbo pot.
  8. Googled Hellbenders & Estrogen and I got a ton of hits...This was the most informative.. USFS Link on Helllbenders Read the water quality section, and youll find that some of our rivers arent as pristine as we think they are.
  9. Go to NOAA.gov and check it out...The water was very low last weekend...a good rain couldnt hurt anything. Hope you have a great trip.
  10. Good for you! Floated Greer to Turner with Granny Ruth on Friday & and a bunch from Ozark Fly Fishers on Saturday. There were allot of people on the water both days but we caught enough to keep things interesting....Dozen on Friday, 22 on Saturday...best in the 16-17" range. Not bad for a bluebird day with lots of people on the water. Caught em on a wide range of stuff on Friday, but olive mohairs and eggs produced most of our fish this weekend. Cheers.

I'd do the Slabtown to Ross stretch...Great Scenery, Good Fishing, and you can float to your car if you use Rich's Last Resort or Wilderness Ridge for your shuttle/rentals.
  12. Ditto...low water fishing can be really tough...morning & evening are usually your best bets.....at high water they might feed all day long..Some of my best trips have occurred when the water is up a foot or two..plus its less wear and tear on the canoe.
  13. Think you were in the White Ribbon area...City Park upstream by the spring with the 44 business route bridge at the end of the park...the Red Ribbon is downstream of the other park behind the school down closer to the Gasconade...I havent fished it in a couple years...but it can produce good numbers of smallmouth and a bonus brown trout or two at times.
  14. That might have been Paul Dallas asking for some Tito's Vodka.
  15. Pick up a copy of Ozark Hideaways by Louis White....some of his suggestions involve a bit of tresspassing though.
  16. Depends on where your at...but I'd go with Tom Hargrove @ T. Hargrove Fly Fishing in St. Louis (thargrove.com) or Charlie Reading at Readings Fly Shop near Bennett Springs...Both can wrap anything you want and you wont find better custom work anywhere...I've got 3 of Tom's rods and they are truly works of art.
  17. I've never been keen on night fishing with the moon on the water. A clear night and starlight is fine...but it seems to die when that moon comes..The tailwater night fishers might provide better insight. Cheers.
  18. Fishing on the Current was slow too...no worries...the float was fun, and the company could not be beat..Blue bird & wind is usually tough....Day floating the 11pt with Granny Ruth next Friday & Saturday......I'm sure that we can pound up a couple..If anyone wants to hook up for a fast float & a shuttle from Greer to Turner on Friday, shoot me a PM...probably wont get there till 11am or so...think were staying at Brian's cabins on Friday & Saturday, and floating with the Ozark bunch on Saturday.
  19. Nice catch! Good for you!...I'd give you 20" and 3.75lbs-4lbs....
  20. Think the fish counts were allot higher back in the 1980's & 1990's....But it seems to be coming back...It was absolutely miserable fishing during the drought 10 years ago but its allot better now. A.J. Pratt is the biologist down there, and MDC will provide historical sampling data if you care to ask for it.
  21. Fishing was a tad slow for us on Saturday. Floated from Baptist down to Parker with lots of folks out on the river...Caught a smallmouth on a spoon, and a trout on big bushy dry fly. Think I only made 50 casts all day long...My wife fished a good portion of the day with a few more fish to show for it...most on nymphs, and one on a jerkbait....Great day to enjoy the Fall colors...too bright and windy to expect much...Need some rain down there.
  22. Shop for a blank you like, and have Tom Hargrove wrap it for you with the full feather inlay treatment. Blank cost & components for a casting rod are significantly less than those for a fly rod...so you could probably get it for less than $700....just completed a 5' casting rod for walking Sammy's..I used a 6' ML Batson IM7 spinning rod blank and cut it down to 5'..4" straight grip, Fuji ACS Reel Seat, no foregrip. I paired it with a Curado 200E7 and I really like it allot...Incredibly lightweight with a really fast tip...Should be great for Sammy's & Jerkbaits.
  23. Looks like a good start...kinda small, and it doesnt look like you use it much...ditch the carpet...12 string on the wall? We oughta get together with Cricket & play sometime.
  24. Cant name the source.....but their may be a link with pharmacuetical residue. Unprocessed drugs in pee.......Lots of estrogen in BC pills....and they give lots of estrogen to cows & chickens too.
  25. George makes some great stuff and he's a darn good fly fisherman and fly tyer...........TV Tyer, custom cabinets....if its made of wood...George will build it and it will exceed your expectations....
