  1. KVD is my favorite Pro angler not from the Ozarks. I saw him at Bass Pro a couple of years ago and he was obviously in a hurry and trying to leave after a seminar. A couple of fans were asking for autographs as he was walking out the door and he was pretty courteous with the situation. He was a Professional pro!
  2. Exactly! It is amazing the miracles that occur when fishing. I sat two rods next to each other and when I went to pick them up....somehow the line to one managed to get into the split ring of a McStick on the other. Then while trying to untangle them....the sharp treble hook managed to get into the net. Once that was untangled, the hook managed to embed itself into my favorite camo life jacket! Miracles I tell ya!
  3. Sounds like fun, but I already have an AIA tournament on the 6th.
  4. Nice looking boat! I love boats!

I tried to attach a couple of more pics, but slow going.
  6. Shell (AKA Mrs techo) and I signed up for anothe AIA Tournament. They sure do like us there. We always pitch in the entry fee and are not much of a threat. We like them too though as they are pretty friendly folk. Shell cut her hand in the kitchen yesterday, so I was a bit concerned about her being able to fish. She did outstanding. A friend had given me a heads up on a pattern and it turned out to spot on. We only weighed four fish at 9.5ish pounds, but we caught a lot of fish. We fished top water all day long. Shell wore out the red fin. I fished top water too, but the guy that told me about it can chime in if he wants to share the bait. Shell think she caught 16 and I caught a few more. I did catch two on the spinner bait in an attempt to get a bit larger. This morning they were in about eight feet of water forus and we caught our last keeper about 2ish in 20 feet of water. The trolling motor quit working for us. I wiggled a bunch of unknown wires under the dash and had it going again for a while, but it stopped part way through the day. I couldn't find anything disconnected or obviously loose. The weather was perfect and the fishing was awesome. We caught some little small mouth that wanted to beat us up. I hooked the first one and yelled at Shell to get the net, but it was only 12 inches long. There were great bags today with one being 22.36 and another 22.4. Talk about close! Overall we didnt get the size we needed, but this is one of the best days ever spent with one of the best people I know!
  7. Babler told me the same thing about two years ago. Surface water temp is not the temp of the entire water column (of course) and the water temp does not have as much affect on the fish as the amount of daylight. So spawn is more related to amount of daylight versus water temp. I think that is what he said.
  8. Taking over RPS saving people on the lake job? I am glad there are folks around with the Ozarkian friendliness. I guess we (wife and I) aren't the best fisher people of all time, but we still have fun on the lake. I think one of the reasons I love Table Rock is that it is a challenge. When I fished Rainy Lake hard for about nine years...it got so we would just go out and catch fish. Eventually we would look for new locations just for fun or fish for bigger fish. Table Rock isn't like that. I always breathe a sigh of relief when we catch a couple to get rid of the skunk smell. There have been a few days when we have caught 30+ fish, but not many! The challenege is the bait for me. I did think that a few years after the flood they were predicting an awesome crappie year. Isn't that this year?
  9. Thanks! Gave the Port of Kimberling info to da bossman! Hope it satisfies him.
  10. Awesome pic!
  11. See you there!
  12. Same....great meeting you guys! There are NO fish in Aunts Creek, you must be mistaken about location on those small mouth!
  13. Ouch! I feel like a traitor! I will try to get them to at least wear bikinis for your viewing pleasure. The down side is they are all males!
  14. the real question is.....when do I get to spawn? My apologies ahead of time to the G rated audience!
  15. I actually thought Aunts would be good with the swing over on the bluff and the great camp ground. We are heading out in June so the fish should be deep. I don't know much about that pleasure boating stuff as it seems a waste of a good fishing day to me. Thanks for the good natured joshing. You guys fishing AIA on Saturday?
  16. My supervisor wants to have a "training" day on the lake. Basically a fun day and rent a house boat or deck boat. There are about eleven of us and I will take the Skeeter anyway. Any suggestions on Houseboat or deck boat rentals? I think they just want to go to some cove and cook out, swim and visit for the day. He asked me to do some checking as at work I am known for loving Table Rock. Thanks for any advice or tips.
  17. I guess I have never thought it was about ignorance. I will try to educate and communicate as you suggest Capt. Stay tuned for the fireworks and please start raising bond money!
  18. Shell knob! The place to be.
  19. Same story in our boat. Fatboy posted that there was a tournament out of Aunt's Creek yesterday. There have been a lot more boats this year around there period! Cape Fair area was even more crowded. I am thinking about Bull Shoals!
  20. Now you tell me. The Mrs pulled a green fish doctor out of the bag and said she thought it would work. I told her to quit screwing around and get the grub tail in the water! I hope she does not read this post!
  21. Nice Pictures. I can see from the dock where you were. A great deal of pressure there today and we didn't fare well there. Sorry about crowding your area Snakem. I actually fish the James and Cape Fair area more than Aunt's Creek. I just like the ramps down there better. Parking is a mess at Cape Fair!
  22. I hope it is okay to piggy back off your report as it is the same day. I always try to keep days together so next year I can do a search and find out what was cooking this time last year. (that was a confusing time statement) That is why Iusually name my reports by the date too. We didn't get started until late so we put in at Aunt's Creek and motored up. I figured Cape Fair would be crowded at the ramp. The lake was crowded, but the cool thing (I thought) was they were all fishing boats. I ended up gong almost to point 13 before I could find a place to fish. Every transition bank, point, cove had a boat in it. I looked in a few hollows and coves I like to fish and there wasn't much room for another boat. We ended up at Piney Creek before we caught the first short. There was no wind at the time and the Mrs caught it on a grub. As soon as we let it loose....a white Cobra with a Force motor pulled in about a cast and a half away. A Tracker pulled in on the other side between us and a boat that had been fishing the other side of the point, The guy in the Cobra asked how we were doing and I told him fine until we were crowded by his boat! Another shocking thing is they were from Missouri (based on the boat sticker). Usually Ozark people are fairly courteous. The wind did start blowing for us and I tried the spinner with no luck. We caught five fish total in about 4 hours. One might have been fifteen inches, but the rest were twelve or even less. My boat said water temps were 61-63. The little fish we did catch were in 12 feet of water. As we headed back, we saw a black and gold Ranger sitting in the middle of the lake. I stopped to make sure they were alright. They were working their way up from KC to Cape Fair area. He is a new member here and I think he said his name was Henry or something similar. He saw my orange sticker, but hadn't gotten his yet. I didn't see any orange dots today, but did have a more wavers than usual. Awesome weather for boating. I wish we would have more time, but the dog is somewhere in the back yard and we can't find her because the grass is too tall! I hope you guys did better than us.
  23. I managed to whine enough to have the day off work. A guy at church also was going fishing so we decided to go in his red Gambler. He wanted me to be at his house at 7AM. I worked pretty late Thursday and was at his house at 6:45. I would have liked to be on the water at 6:45, but just plain joyed to be fishing at all! We put in at Cape Fair and it was foggy. I told him about a place I knew really really close. We both caught shorts within minutes. Mine on an Eakins jig and his on a Rogue. Then my friend said, uhoh....we have a small problem. His trolling motor quit working. I suggested we go to Ulrich's quick and see what the issue was. We went back to the Cape Fair Marina and she recommended a few places. The Prop Shop guy in Cape Fair grabbed his tester and found out it was the 12-24 volt plug, but he didn't have one. He was really busy and it was very kind of him to figure the issue out for us. So anyway.....off to Ulrich marine where they were very busy. Purchased a plug and changed it ourselves quick. We were way closer to Aunt's Creek now...... so we put back in there. I think around 10-10:30. We fished some of my regular spots, but didn't catch a thing. Headed up toward Piney and caught eight more fish with one squeaker keeper and one that went a smidge over 2.5 pounds. I caught the bigger one on a smike jig with a red jig head. My partner caught most of his on a Texas rigged worm. He also caught a couple on a Carolina rigged centipede. I stuck with the jig. I am not positive on temps as i didn't run the trolling motor much. but I thought I saw water surface temps up to 61 degrees. Most of the fish we caught were in 20-22 feet of water. We saw some whites boiling the water near a point, but couldn't get them to bite. One of the downsides to fishng out of someone elses boat is that most of your tackle is in your boat. Off the lake at about 2:30. All in all a good day with a nice guy. I didn't see any orange stickers today. My stickers will be on the water tomorrow, but probably putting in at Cape Fair again.
  24. That is some great detailed information! Thanks.
  25. No. It is by some of the docks that are usually good around Aunt's Creek. It is usually not near the points or secondary points around there.
