  1. I have a friend up by the LOZ that is holding a crappie tourney fundraiser for some boy scouts. I posted this in LOZ, then thought it might be better here. I will try to attach the flier. Thank you for your time and consideration. 1st_Annual_fishing_tournament.doc
  2. My friend is having a crappie tourney as a fundraiser for a boyscout troop. I will try to attach the flier if anyone is interested. 1st_Annual_fishing_tournament.doc
  3. "But after the tail-whippin' The Rock gave me a few weeks ago, I have my concerns. " Thank you so much for saying that! We have been catching fish, but all pretty much small ones. Sounds like everyone else is catching 40+ fish with about half of them keepers with 3-5 fish well over 5 pounds. I was starting to get a complex! Even beginning to believe those fishing infomercials! Best of luck on your trip!

    Sweden Falls

Wow! Kind of makes you feel the place.
  5. Mill Creek might be a mess with all of those boats! It is getting kind of worn out the way it is. We might go the night before and sleep in the boat!
  6. That is a great story Sam. I had a friend back the trailer down the ramp one time to load up the boat. I maybe should have asked if he could back a trailer.....cause he couldn't. I suppose he spent about five minutes trying to as I started to laugh hysterically. I was laughing so hard tears were coming out of my eyes. Some of the guys waiting, didn't have the same sense of humor though.
  7. If you are catching them.....I would pitch in on the AIA Tourney. I fished a few Heartlands in the past as an AM and they put on a good tourney, but AIA is full of friendly folk. I like it as they are great fisherman, but feels like family of sorts. I love donating to E.P. and the boys. I do think the weather is supposed to change back to rain for the weekend. We will see what that does to the fish. Either way.....I hope to bump into you guys.
  8. When are you coming? I think I have this week off. You fishing AIA Sunday?
  9. Thanks for the report, will try to put some of the advice to work this week!
  10. The whole safety thing might put a few folks off, but you are sure to stir the pot whenever you mention keeping bass. It is a constant debate on here. I kind of thought you were trolling by the way your first post read. I am glad your friends ended up safe and able to return home.
  11. It would really depend on what part of the lake you are fishing and what you are looking for. Aunt's Creek is pretty clean with two nice ramps.
  12. Where would be best for size.....not numbers? A wise man once told me there were more of the three types of bass in Shell Knob, but there are more LM in the James. Time of year and all of that being taken into consideration.
  13. Poor guy probably can't afford to eat with all of the new toys! 35 pounds is quite an accomplishment!
  14. Thanks for the post. That helped me some.
  15. Pretty heavy bags!
  16. Hi-jack away! I have the same questions.
  17. Per Mike....Scott Berry and Wes Darnell from the Satellite Division won the tournament with 5 fish weighing 20.47 pounds.
  18. What kind of boat you get? Sorry about the poor luck.
  19. Congratulations! We hope to join the club in the near future. Kids do seem to make everything a whole lot more fun and exciting.
  20. motorman, I am sorry the week didn't turn out well for some of the group. Four of my co-workers went to Lake Fort in Texas for four days. One caught one fish, one guy caught no fish, the other two only caught a couple each. We did way better than that on Table Rock. Sounds like your guys did too. I think one of the reasons I like Table Rock so much.....is it is really a different type of lake. We caught a ton of shorts. It was almost frustrating, when we reeled in another little one. I know we caught well over twenty fish, er minnows. We had a great successful day fishing, just not a great tournament fishing day. I promise to learn the stickbait, even if it is icky. Congrats on the great day Mike. Who won it?
  21. We fished the AIA today. My regular partner was sent to Alabama for Blackhawk training, so Mrs. techo graciously offered to fish with me. I obviously married up! The weather wasn't to horrendous to start with. We went to Schooners to wait for the big boats to get out of the way. We caught nothing there. We headed up to Aunt's Creek area and up from there for the rest of the day. We tried the rogues and grubs, but no takers for about 90 minutes. I saw a guy catch one on a spinner bait and tied one on for the mrs. I tied on a perch colored squarebill. I caught a 14.5 incher on the first cast. It turned out to be our biggest fish of the day for us. We caught a ton of little Kentuckys and a few smallies, but no keepers. I need to learn this stick bait fishing better! We tried the shaky jig and a few other things, but everything we caught was on the squarebill. Saw a few of the brothers fron the board and they fared better than us. We were rained, sleeted and hailed on. It was an interesting day. Time for a cup of hot chocolate!
  22. I just use weather.com. I lived in Alaska between mountain ranges for a bit. You didn't have a clue what the weather would do. The jet streams are fairly predictable here and they have forecasts broken down to fifteen minute intervals for details if you want. They are a little off or surprised on occasion, but for the most part pretty accurate.
  23. The weather forecast seems to be remarkably accurate. It usually even has the wind speeds down and at what time they change. For the most part I have a good idea what the weather will do. I am with everone else in that I have a cell phone. My mrs would call in a heartbeat if something popped up. I don't think there is a place on the lake where you are more than three or four minutes (or less)from some sort of shelter.
  24. You can't "pin" it down much more than that!
  25. Never tried a camera! I bet that would be a great way to learn the lake better too.
