  1. Wow! That sounded like an educational fun visit Doug. Thanks for sharing the information with us. Have to admit I am a bit envious of you though.
  2. Your killing the threads Trav! If you love the forums so much, quit spamming every single thread please.
  3. Welcome to the board. Where do you usually fish?
  4. Makes me wonder why I get a squirrel nest. Very inspirational video. I think I have a new fav pro.
  5. Never thought I would see the day you two would agree either. It is a great day!
  6. That Clay Dyer guy sounds really special! Have to tip your hat to him.
  7. I am guessing a smidge over 38 pounds for a two day total. That would be two bags of 19 and a bit. I would be pleased with those bags!
  8. Ham, Great problem to have. If you have too many...please give me a call....always willing to help out!
  9. Someone asked me about a Purple Heart Fishing outing in Arpil on Table Rock. I found one reference to it on another forum, which stated it will be April 25th. Does anyone know more? Do they still need volunteers to assist with anything?
  10. It will be intrigung to see how the big boys fair. We had a complete 180 in the weather. Will that be enough to cool off the top of the water column and drive them deeper?
  11. Those guys have been tearing it up! I believe they swim the jig some.
  12. We catch a fair amount of smallies on the ridge at point 9. You will see the marker buoy when you head down from Aunt's, just fish the outside and then back toward the point until you find which side of the wall they are on and how deep. That little wall isn't much of a secret. I think it used to be a cemetary prior to the lake being there. We do get fairly lucky on white tubes at times in the spring.
  13. Weatherman and crowds scared me off today. Now I feel like a sissy.

    Dilemma

Ouch! I know exactly how you feel. When mine was cut, the wire itself was still intact. It was the wrapping which was cut. Mine has worked fine ever since, but I didn't have to splice. Sounds like you might want to replace yours.
  15. A friend of mine said his Dad caught 24 keepers up there today. Must be time!
  16. http://www.ultimatebass.com/bass-fishing-forum/index.php is a great forum, but not to area specific. http://www.probass.net/ has a bass chat feature that gets kind of fun,but difficult to moderate. I am a moderator on a Bass N Cops forum, but you have to be a member to get in. This is by far the friendliest and best moderated forum.

    Anticipation

I had the opportunity to attend Babbler"s seminar on spring bass fishing on Tale Rock. It was a great seminar and I managed to put a few faces to names. I was happy to discover I used many of the same techniques as Bill, but guess who taught me? The water is warming up and I think the bass are about to turn on. I can't wait to spend two or three days a week on the lake learning more.
  19. I thought it was a great seminar and well worth the price of admission. I think about half of the folks managed to get a prize of some sort. I saw the little guy win a cap and a rod. I was hoping he would. You know he had to have a great day going with his family to an event and then winning such a great prize. I met Bill in the past and knew what a likable personable character he was. There are a number of places where fishing is a top secret thing. If you catch a fish....you try to sneak it in the boat so no one even knows you have it and then release it quietly. You would never tell someone how or where you catch fish. It is a great deal different with most people around the Ozarks. Bill is one of the better known guides on Table Rock and an expert net-worker. He is willing to share exactly what baits he and some of the other guides use, when, where, how deep, how they are tied on, color and time of year in relation to spawn and water temps. That is a mouthful! The MDC guys were great too. They appeared to be a couple of folks that care about their project and the health of the lake. Many thanks from Mrs. techo and myself for lugging in all of that stuff, spending your own time sharing what you know with us. Kind of nice to see the World still has people around who would do all of that for free.
  20. I agree with nathan. Nice size and color.
  21. I generally try to be agreeable, but have to disagree with brownieman on this one. You might not miss a fish because of the rod, but you might not even know the fish is there if the rod is not sensitive enough. Especially on spinning rods. My partner Adam couldn't catch a fish for a bit. I told him to set the hook. He did and caught a fish. He realized he was not feeling the fish at the end of the line with his rod. He used my fishing rod and could feel a ton of more hits, trees, brush and the bottom. Personal preference is huge on rod choice, but I still think the most sensitive rod you can afford (within reason) is the better way to go. St. Croix has a great reputation. Nothing wrong with Ugly Sticks or Berkley Lightning rods, but prefer a more sensitive rod if I can afford it.
  22. Thanks for the kind words, but someone has been telling some tall fishing stories! Let me know who and I will send them the required payment. I think last year's weather is going to make a bunch of the lakes fish a bit better. We can already see a difference on Table Rock and I think the crappie fisherman are hopeful for a great season.
  23. That is a great deal. Mrs. techo said I had to do a ton of errands today and could not go fishing. I am going to Bass Pro to purchase another Falcon for my new reel. She does insist I quit listening to you Bill. Says you are a spendy friend! See you Thursday. Mrs. techo is coming too. Might I suggest kevlar?
  24. Thanks for the report. I am going to try to fish Stockton a bit more this summer. Table Rock is way closer, but I would like to start branching out. I will be hanging on your every word this summer!
