A much better day catching today. We went to the same places as yesterdayand even about the same times, but the wind was a little better. For the first time in about ten years, my daughter offered to go fishing with me. I was outfished, outcasted and out everything. She did lose quite a few Jewel jigs, but worth the cost. More fishing report later

Got it thanks. It is amazing the fish are staying shallow as they are this year. I always thought they went deep in the summer because of the water temp, but I wonder if it is more to do with the water being let out of the lake because of the flooding this year. Water movement = shallow fish? Maybe temp has some to do with it too. What a fascinating puzzle this lake is.

Bill, I almost called you today! We went out of Aunt's Creek. We stunk it up bad. I usually head up the James, but I am learning more of the lake so we headed the other way today. Caught a short small mouth and a short K. Threw the football jig most of the day, but tried the dropshot and the carolina rig. I could mark them with the newly repaired depth finder and they would jump all around us. but did not seem to like anything with a hook in it. I missed quite a few with the pinchers being eaten off the double tail grub. Good day fishing, but a the poorest day catching I have had all year.

I love fishing tournaments, just think it is a bad idea during the hot months. I know the catch and release boats help in the bigger tourneys. I put in at Aunt's Creek today and still saw two fish floating there. Both were bigger than anything I caught today. I personally don't keep bass and haven't ever. If a bunch of fish are going to die then have a fish fry or something. Have a fish fry at the VFW or Senior Center. Have a fish fry for money and use it to help the Table Rock habitat somehow. It is legal to keep the fish, just poor sportsmanship and a waste to throw them back in if they are going to die. It is a bit hypocritical to preach catch and release tournaments and have a bunch of floaters.

No tournaments during the hot months would help. Heartland doesn't have any in July. They do have on in August though.

I don't know of and can't find any tournaments being held last night. Would be a good candidate for a blanket party! I am flabbergasted! Let me know if there is anything I can do.

Hard working folks for sure!

Many thanks to all. It dried real quick. Like the construction expert said, "less than a minute." If I can do it anyone can. I do have a brown thumb. I will get back to you if the stuff ever wears off. Predator....if she can't make it on the fishing honeymoon in Mexico....I do have a passport.

Piney Creek area is a sweet bass area too. I hate that guy even more! Even teaching his son the improper way to live.

Apparently we are married to the same woman! I am just kidding. My mrs is pretty low maintenance. I just don't need much fancy stuff. I like my little depth finder it speaks my language. There are times when I am reading the board and I would like a little fancier one which is a bit more sensitive. Depth finder, not wife!

I almost purchased a G3 instead of my glass Skeeter. Lund are famous in Minnesota (they are made there). I fished many a Lund and they are good boats, you betcha! Times have changed and for the most part I think most brands of anything are good. Not really a bad motorcycle, car, truck or boat made anymore. It seems to be more about what features are most important to you. Alumacraft was a prior boat I owned. You could do anything with that thing. I think it was four wheel drive and indestructible.

What a great board. Good neighbors on here. One feller from Nixa had a can of liquid tape and offered to meet me last night so I could borrow it. I almost took him up on it, but I had already taped it up for fishing today. Mrs. Techo can't find the dog in the back yard and insists I stay home and do some chores. She figures if the grass wasn't so high we might be able to see the dog. No fishing for me anyhow. I went to Lowes and picked up a can of the liquid 3M electrical insulation stuff. When I got home I used a magnafying glass to look at the damage. It turns out I cut the black wrapping, the paper insulation, and some silver colored insulation around the wires, but never even nicked the rubber wrapping around the actual wires. I put three layers of the liquid tape on. The stuff is sticky enough that it actually glued the outer black layer back down. I wrapped all of that with three layers of regular old electrical tape. I think we are going to be good to go! Thanks for the assitance. Later I might request a thread on how I need a whole new trolling motor and depth finder to show the Mrs., but for now I am off to mow the lawn. I can feel the fish taunting me from here though.....

We are doing well on the darker colors crawdad colored.

That particular wire won't be submerged, but will be on top of the boat. I am going to try the liquid electrical tape tomorrow AM. I wish I could have gotten to it today as it appears to be a perfect fishing day tomorrow. I won't be able to go again until next Tuesday. Seriously thanks for the replies. Sounds like it isn't going to be too spendy even if I purchase a new cord.

The coating is cut and it appears as if the bare wie is nicked. I tried to photograph it. You can see my fingerprts, but the wire did not show up as well as I hoped.

An associate of mine was lucky enough to be able to fish with Charlie up at Truman a week or two ago. He said it was the most fun he ever had fishing. On each location he explained what it looked like and what he was looking for. Another guy "Tony French" told me Charlie even packs a lunch for his amateur on tournaments. Charlie fishes the buddy side of Heartland Pro Am with his wife. I often go to weigh in just to see him. One of these days I will get the nerve to visit with him. Class act.

Hey! That liquid electrical tape sounds like a shot. I might try that. Thanks. I thought about the heat shrink tube, but I am not sure how I would get it on without cutting it, or cutting the transducer wire the rest of the way through. I still might try that with the liquid tape, then duct tape! I might use it as an excuse to get a new depth finder. Originally I was thinking of getting a bigger faster Skeeter, but the price of gas has made me fall in love with my 90 horse all over again.

I took my bud out fishing yesterday and we decided to call it a day about 5:00 PM. I went to pull the trolling motor up and the rope broke. I did the broken rope trolling motor dance for what seemed hours, but managed to keep from falling down, falling out of the boat, stepping on any of the two thousand rods strewn across the deck and did not break any bones or gain any new bruises. I did what any wise person did this year and took all of the unneccesary weight out of my boat earlier this year to conserve gas. One way to save weight is to take the tool kit you never use out of the boat. There will always be a guy around like rps to save the day anyhow. I am not sure where rps was yesterday,(probably saving someone up-lake) but I sure could have used a screwdriver. I could not get that trolling motor up for anything. I finally tried to use my pocket knife to push down on the locking bar and pick up the trolling motor. I have a very sharp knife that I often use to trim toe nails with and stuff. Unfortunately I managed to brush it up agains my transducer wire and expose a few wires. I did not cut it deep, but too deep. I have to apologize to anyone within ear shot on the lake yesterday for my string of quite loud profanity. I used the big motor and drove to the nearest dock. I found a nail on the dock and was able to use it to pry against the eye of the hook (where a rope should be tied) and get my trolling motor up. Incidently.....thanks to whomever owns the dock for not shooting me. So now the issue....can I just put electrical tape around that little slice or do I need a whole new depth finder. Mine are quite in-expensive, but works great for me. Would electrical tape keep the water out? My apologies if this belongs in the general category, but I was fishing on Table Rock and I usually read this category more often. PS I did fix the trolling motor rope.

This topic is like fishing porn. Drives me crazy with fishing lust!

I Would rather fish in the rain. I have a great rain suit that its me well. There are less boats on the lake. It isn't so hot that blisters are popping out all over. Lightening is the down side. I try to use a three foot rod and give my partner a seven foot rod! LOL just kidding. Lightning scares me of too.

I took a friend from work fishing withme today. He bought some Wal-Mart baitcasting fishing combo (cheap). He caught almost as many fish as I did. The brand and price of equipmnt didnt matter much for the day. My stuff is a few years older thanhis and has taken a beating though. I doubt his stuff will last near as long.

I drug a buddy out from work. He said he hadn't been fishing in four years, I am not sure how many we caught but he wants to go fishing next Tuesday too. We had all little guys and nothing for the bragging boards. Almost all of them were on the Eakins or Jewel jigs. I caught two on the drop shot! Woohoo! Of course we fished mostly points and hung around points between and near nine and ten for the most part The weather was perfect today. Just the right amount of wind and clouds. Once in a while it would rain just enough to cool us off. I could never plan a better day.

topwater! other wise......I like the thud with the whine of the complaining drag.
