  1. Thanks for the tips! I am taking a friend out that doesn't fish much tomorrow morning. I hope to put most of this to good use. I am putting in at Aunt's Creek....so if you see a little red and white Skeeter...it is me!
  2. It seems as if the Truman trees weed out any skiers and jetskis too. It is just too far with the price of gas to drive. Plus I love Table Rock. Not another challenge like it!
  3. I still wave at all of the other boats. I often stop to visit. It is because of people like you that make the lake fun. If I was ever in favor of cloning, it would be to clone the good feelings that kind of story invokes.
  4. Oh my gosh!
  5. Web site is .....http://www.mtviewsports.com/
  6. Oops Mountain View Sports, nit Ozark Mountain Sports. I have my locations messed up!
  7. It depends on the fishing. There is some good fishing north of Anchorage, Sheeps Creek, Montana and LIttle Willow. Mostly fly fishing and depends on when the runs are. The Little Willow usually has grayling. Ozark Mountain Sports is a great place to checkin when you go. I think it is at the corner of Old Seward and 36th Avenue. Might be good to give them a call and they wll set you up with some ideas and some flies if you need them. CHeap lodging as ypu can camp almost anywhere. Bears can be pesty though Salt Water Safaris will do a great combo trip for halibut andsilvers out of Seward. Great guides and usually runs about 250.00 I think.
  8. I am still working on my favorites. I have Shimano spinning reels that are coming up on ten years old or more. I love the Pfleuger President spinning reels and have two of them on Falcon rods. I also have three BPS Extreme rod and reel bait cast combos. The nut seems to come off and little pieces fly off the BPS Extreme baitcasters, but they feel smooth and haven stopped working. THe funny thing is I usually have three rods on deck. It is usually the Falcon rod for spinning, and the BPS for baitcasting. The rod length and sensitivity depends on the lake and type of fishing. That was a long way to say I have no clue yet.
  9. Numb Nutts is the term of endearment my wife uses for me when she isn't mad!
  10. Good luck fishing. I wish I was on the lake. To much work to do here. I am staying off of the lake this weekend unless it rains hard enough to keep the big boats off. I enjoy reading SKMO's posts. Fairly direct and straight forward. Maybe one of these days I will hit him up for some fishing. I usually forget anyone else is in the boat when I am fishing though. Guess I get a bit single minded when fishing. The point is....I am kind of a boring partner at times.
  11. Bill, I don't have the greatest depth finders, but it seems when I see the cloud of baitfish balled up and near the bottom.....I catch a fish or two on the jig. If I follow the cloud of baitfish, then it seems to change depth. If the cloud gets darker or tightens up then my chances increase. Am I near learning something here or crazy? I have been trying to use the drop shot on some humps I know. There is one near Aunt's Creek that always seems to have fish on it, but I haven't caught one fish. I can see them leaving the hump, hopefully to eat my worm, but I never feel anything. I have three different rods with the drop shot at about 6, 12, and 18 inches. To this day I haven't caught a fish on drop shot. It would seem to be the ticket on humps or saddles. I do think the shaky head works better on saddles though. Which brings me to the drop shot.....we used to use jigs for walleye on Rainy Lake and once you figured how the depth of the fish on the hump, you would just put the jig at that depth. In other words, if your reel reels 31 inches per turn, then you give about a half turn and you would be up 16 inches. You could also count down depending on your weight. Count to twent as your line goes out and you would be about twenty feet (depending on spool size and weight). So........would a say a shaky head jig and then a hook for a dropshot be legal and work? Do you think it would take away the feel of the bite too much? Other than te weightless presentation of the hook alone with the weight on the bottom. what do you think the advantages of the drop shot are over a plain old round jig head tipped with a very attractive worm? I think my fingers are bleeding from typing all of that!
  12. Wow! I knew I should have stayed out of this topic, ......way too late now. I wish we had this many posts on drop shotting. I have way more frustration with that technique. Taxidermist, I usually enjoy reading your posts, and I realize most of the folks here are venting some frustration. You might want to read post 18 by Captain Joe in regards to docks. Fisher people fish structure....a dock is structure. A dock is basically permission from whomever to extend your land onto the water. It is your dock, but the water in and around it is not yours. It is a great place to catch fish. Especially on LOZ. THe last tournament I fished with Tony French.....the bass came from next to a dock. THere are often people on docks who are great to visit with too. ON occassion I have seen great scenery on docks! Call me lazy if you want, but there are times and situations where I love to fish docks. If some unfriendly person was to come out and yell at me, them I will fish elsewhere (has never happened on Table Rock). Fishing is fun for me. I get enough aggravation at work. Speaking of work, I would like to get more information on the video recording system you have for $400.00. I Have not been able to find anything that would work for us for under $7000.00. The wildlife cameras work fine for a few applications, but not what we need. We would like a DVR without cables and at least two water proof cameras. We also need color and night lenses with different zoom capabilities.
  13. Only if a person is able to articulate the protection of himself or others from serious physical harm or death is a person able to use deadly force, even in your house....even if your house floats.
  14. We haven't done very well on top water this year either.
  15. Those motion sensored lights are a huge key. A better penalty to the thieves (if caught) wouldn't hurt either. I guess this is one of the reasons I trailer my boat. It takes me less than a minute to load and load my boat in most cases. Sometimes there is a wait at the ramp, but it gives you a chance to visit with the other fisherpeople. The wait is icky poo if you need to use the restroom though!
  16. The Castle Law and the new court decision which states you can use deadly force during a car jacking is a bit different than the way your attorney is explaining it to you. Basically, the Supreme court has found that car jacking is so dangerous and generally ends in serious physical injury or death to the victim. so deadly force can be used if you are able to articulate the force was used to protect you or another person from that threat of serious physical injury or possible death. The original Castle had to do with protecting your and your family's life inside of your house, where you should be able to feel safe and secure. In other words, you can't use deadly force to save gas. A great many construction workers are losing 200 gallons or more each weekend from their parked equipment. I hope some of those guys catch theives in the act. THey won't use deadly force, but I doubt the thieves will ever return. It is a frustrating situation all the way around. The lack of respect and decency has made life a challenge for honest respectable folks forever. Don't even get me started on the boat ramp hogs. I had to sit for almost a half hour at Aunt's Creek on Sunday while two big boats sat on the ramp.

    Rain

We went out this morning and caught a bunch of shorts. We had that short bite where we missed some too. They seemed to be pushed in the shallows with the rain, but went back out to the 35 foot areas when it warmed up. Boat traffic was a bit frustrating today. I will be going during the week for the rest of the year.

What was Noah using for bait? Where did he go and how deep are the fish? Just wondering.
  19. Sonny and Jerry have been slaughtering the field this year. Makes you want to buy Chompers! I won't be up tomorrow, but I am going to try to go to Table Rock after a bit of work in the AM. Good luck. Sounds like a fun day.
  20. I ended up working Saturday and no way could I make the pre-meeting. Good luck to you guys. How did the Saturday guys do?
  21. We must work at the same place.
  22. A couple of minnows from the weekend.
  23. I don't fish with live bait anymore, but Eric's response to the dead minnow brought back memories. When I lived on the Canadian border in Minnesota...you weren't allowed to take live minnows into Canada. So most guys purchased dead minnows packed in sawdust like material. The dead minnows worked just as well for the deep wallaye bite up there. So.....if you are a live bait man....the difference of the dead minnow and the live one might not mean much as long as you gave it the action. Just a thought..... I tried messing with the trailer hook on the Jewel jig and didn't care for it. I go to a little pond here and practice messing around with my tackle when I don't have time to go to th lake. The trailer gets caught on every little weed, stick, rock, or air bubble in the pond. It takes away some of the benefits of the Jewel jig. Didn't work for me. I do love the little jigs though.
  24. They bit the pinchers off some of our trailers too! Would a trailer hook work on the Jewel jigs?
