  1. Nice report. We just got back from the lake ourselves. We caught most on a Jewel jig today. I am not sure if I am setting the hook wrong or what! I lost a bunch on the way to the boat. I think we had one short and four keepers around sixteen inches. They were shallower for us this morning and about twelve feet deep. It seemed like they moved back into the brush a bit this morning.
  2. We went out this morning as well. We did not get on the water until 9:00 AM. It was a day to spend with the Mrs. We put in at Aunt's Creek and fished up to point 13. We had eight or nine in the boat, two lost while reeling to the boat. Most were shorts or near keepers. We had a blast. Might try to throw some pictures on here later. All of the fish came on secondary points with smoke tail grub or a Eakins jig. The Mrs. drove the boat and had a blast. It was an incredible day. A lot of Jets Skis and big boats, but they were pleasant and waved as they went by. We finally had to leave the lake due to all of the traffic.
  3. It sounded like a tournament was considering cancelling there. I am not sure who it was AIA or someone else. I am sure the water will be fine in a week. Still high, but fishable.
  4. Ouch! I can't hit Carpenter or outfish Beck.
  5. Appreciate the info. Thanks
  6. Brian Snowden is doing well. I like to see how he fares as he is from here.
  7. I am supposed ot be fishing the AM side of Hearland on Sunday too. I am having a schedule problem at work though. Hope to see you there. Good luck to you guys in any case! I will be the tall dude with the skeeter cap
  8. I would have rather fished too. It looked like a top water day. My wife reminded me that the kids were burnt out on fishing a long time ago and would rather come visit me today than come over and find out I was gone fishing. So no fishing for me! It was good to see the kids though.
  9. Might need to schedule another lesson.
  10. Man oh man! There are many topics within this one thread. I have the Lowrance X47 on my little Skeeter. Sometimes I think I would rather hire a guide to train me on my own boat than to go in theirs. Their boats are way nicer, but I think I could use the lessons better in my own boat.
  11. Good report Thanks. When I was in International Falls, people would throw the northern pike up on the bank to die. They were slimy icky creatures that were not worth eating and messed with the walley and small mouth. Out of towners would come from along way to catch this worthless fish. There seemed to be a great amount of discussion on it. I don't keep any fish, and I don't throw northern on the bank. A great many walleye fisherman did not care for small mouth up there either. Down here we have the perennial discussion of fishing beds or not, keeping bass or not. Thanks for the fishing report regardless of your beliefs.
  12. I guess I always thought the rule of thumb was tip for a service. Tip the barber, the luggage carrier, the car parking dude, the waiter, waitress, bartender, the guide and so on. I also thought a rule of thumb was that you do not tip te owner of the establishment. The barber who owns the shop and so on. By that rule of thumb you should tip the dentist. I promise you that isn't going to happen from me!
  13. Great news! I wish it were not a holiday weekend. I always end up with a headache if I try to fish on Memorial Weekend. We were doing fairly well on the red fin in the mornings earlier. Hanks for the great news.

    Sunday

I hope so. He is a good fisherman and kind to his AM. Shane fished with him today and I know he had a great time.

    Sunday

Yesterday it took almost 16.5 pounds to win the Heartland. Jerry McCutchen and Sonny Chafin won again. Them boys apparently know how to fish. I didn't fish with them Saturday. I fished the AM side of Pro/Am today. I ended up with a short fish and my Pro weighed one. We caught our short fish on the jigs and his Keeper was on a white grub. Sunday was a tougher day. When I left the heavy bag was just about thirteen pounds. I am not sure what it ended up at. One of my best buds blanked. He is one of the best fishermen I know. (not today though) Tough day on the water. I did see more bikinis than I have seen in quite a few months.

    Report

Gary, How are you rigging the tubes? Texas or Carolina? Pearl? green or brown? Thanks!
  17. The Kimberling 13 ramp is getting better for parking. The water receded enough where both roads are open now. Mill Creek is good, but you are putting in where you would normally park. The ramp is not that steep and you have to back in quite a ways in to load and unload. Parking is determined by the courtesy of people who come before you!
  18. Oh my gosh! Now I want to go too. What happens to the fishing there in the deep hot summer months?
  19. I think my neighbor is hoping I purchase lawn mower gas too.
  20. When mine gets here I am going to fill the gas tank on the boat and pickup.
  21. You can't go wrong with Charlie Campbell either. Babler is our own little character.
  22. It took just over seventeen pounds to win and over 13 pounds to earn money.
  23. Hey Bill! Saw you there. We tried to go for big ones too. We only caught two really decent sized fish and many 14.5 inch fish. Maybe it was one fish following us around. We went back and released the two near where we caught them instead of entering them in the fish relocation program. I knew we were not in the running. We fished on a few points after the tourney near Mills and caught three right away that were eighteen inchers. All of our good fish came off of main lake points. We caught one on a red fin early with no wind. Guess who taught me about red fins!
  24. I know you were hoping for an answer from some of the local guides and pros, but I don't think there is an answer. Are they flowing water or not? Is the water temp cooling or warming. Sun rising or setting? Wind direction? Wind speed? If I find a pattern and am looking for bigger fish, then I try to fine tune it. Sometimes that means moving farther out on the point, farther in, or up river or toward the dam. If you hang on I bet someone smart will try to answer your inquiry.
