I've caught two walleye slightly under 29" on the meramec. The big ones usually get away. They are violent in the fast water

Every big fish I've measured that Al caught out of my boat, he underestimated its length. Every time I would take what Al says to the bank Period. But I don't think he's god Or even supernatural. He's just on the water too much to not know more than the rest of us.

Thanks Scott, that means a lot to me. Here's a funny. The electrofishing guys last summer said they didn't shock any walleye up. Said it was a rare fish to find on the meramec. I caught one on my first cast yesterday. I catch em 9 out of 10 times I fish for em. We have a decent population imo. Could be better though. It's hard for people to release em. I only kept one today cause I gill hooked it.

My personal best meramec green fish. 6 lb 2 oz and a 28" 8lb walleye this morning! Life is good.

The big ones were hunting gizzard shad and they wouldn't relent until they caught the one they were after. It was one of those rare occasions when every big fish is feeding at once I was shocked at the size of the fish I caught one after another. Had 2 different beasts follow to the boat that would've made my year.

For the first time I went out and only caught largemouth and spots. 2 largemouth and 7 spots in less than a hour in one riffle. The spots were all nice ones. 15" was the biggest. Somebody needs to start eating these things I collected over 30 in the last week. Not a good trend.

It was fun. No pics. Fast and violent fishing. Not worrying about casting over each other or who caught what Just fun fishing and reeling in beautiful hard fighting Smallie's. Love this river.
