So yesterday the conditions were perfect. I actually caught the most smallies I've ever caught in one spot without moving the boat Water was clear and I seen a mob of fish chasing my fish in more than once. I for sure seen 4 20" fish. Well today Mitch f comes by with some baits he made for me and on a whim we say let's put the boat in for a half hour or so. Even though there was junk floating and the river was coming up fast. We missed some fish on jerkbaits and cranks and after running 5 to 6 miles we decided to head back to the pocket of fish. We both tied on Mitch craws and immediately mitch boated a couple keepers and I caught a 20 1/2" smallie. Right now 90% of the fish are in 5% of the water. It's just these little weird nothing special spots with 50 fish in a car sized area. It only lasts a couple weeks though. Guess I'm sold on the Mitch craw. There was probably not much else they would have bit
I think with another hour we would have found hybrids. Funny water down there smallie bigs understands it as do a few others. You almost can't tell someone as much as you can show them we have been fishing around each other's honey holes for years. with our combined knowledge-oh my goodness. Next week? Seth, you in ?
I've made some long drives to very successful trips thanks to pm's from a guy on this forum. He knows who he is. . I will gladly repay the favor if I can.
One was snagged in the mouth and another in the dorsal. Other two in the midsection but we stayed in the same spot for several hours and they never floated up.
it seemed too dirty to target whites there today in the point 15 area. We did snag several whites. They were soooo thick on the fish finder. Only seen 10 boats at most. Not crowded by my standards.
I don't know if it got high enough to gut any holes out. I didn't see any really big trees going down. I hope the whites and walleye are on their way. I guess they swim along the edges in the dead water. Nonetheless I am glad it's up and nasty cause it makes me go other places far off. Today I went to James river. It was phenomenal fishing.
Is anyone going on osage this weekend for any kind of fish? I'll be out Sunday and I'll let all know what I encounter. Gotta get the heck away from this muddy meramec
I'm hoping there is walleye and whites swimming up the river with this nice rise. Then tomorrow's rain will blow the river out and give us some nice deep holes Trying to be positive since the river is in bad shape for fishing.
