  1. I never ever ever fish past 8:30 in the morning. Unless its storming. I've been in construction for years and usually can only hunt or fish when it's inclement weather. Turns out that's the best times to catch or kill. Bluebird skies I have zero luck on walleye on the meramec. I took a guy out yesterday evening and all we caught was bass he got a kick out of the whole river experience but if we could've fished till dark we might've hooked up with some toothy rascals. Put in at river round ran up to bruns bridge water 72 degrees 2 foot visibility. Up a couple feet still. I've lived within sight of the meramec for twenty years and to be honest I love the sound of the boats. Floaters and canoers should understand faster is better. I don't run up past caverns on weekends. Too many visitors. I will say that if river pros were the only boat on the river we would all be better off but some like the sound of open headers. Oh yeah I haven't said much about this new boat but I will now. Unfreakin believable! Everything about it.
  2. I was told (not enough interest)
  3. Can anyone explain why MDC doesn't try stocking walleye in the meramec ?
  4. Actually I took my family by boat to the caverns as we usually do and he wondered over to us where we beached the boat. He figured me to be one of the many joy riders with big blocks in there boats. I told him he should be happy that so many people take a interest in the river in so many different ways. It's like I say as I pass a golf course full of knuckleheads hitting a ball around. I thank god everyone isn't like me or there wouldn't be any fishn spots left 90% of the people on the meramec don't have a fishing pole. We need it that way. These inboards and big outboards scare me at times myself. These folks have money and want to spend it on the river. By the way the bass fishing is top notch in my opinion during peak traffic When I am fishing I always wave boats by. Tell em full throttle. Less wake to battle at full throttle. I was a canoe fisherman for ten years Its alright. You just get stuck fishing the whole river which ain't bad now but normally 90% of the fish are in 10% of the water. Jet boat will keep you on the 10% all day. When I canoe fished I had to tie on a lot of different lures when they snag up in bad water -they gone !
  5. River is almost pretty again. Hit it hard this morning from red horse to meramec caverns. 3 1/2 lb largemouth was biggest fish with a lot of keeper smallies. No whites no spots no walleye Lots of idiots after 1. Water is still hard to read. Can't really find the seams and gravel drop offs it's just a lot of moving water. If you like fast bass action grab a bait caster and a chrome and blue 200 bandit. I hope none of you are the idiot at the caverns preaching at me about jet boats and how we are ruining the river. He felt pretty stupid after I finished my ice cream cone and casted twice in front of him and caught 2 14" smallies. I don't care if you wanna paddle around in a kayak but don't expect me to feel sorry for you after you ridicule me
  6. I have a brand spankin new Riverpro but what good is it when the dang river is flooded all the time. I mainly bought it cause I was tired of the low water shutting me down.
  7. The meramec at hwy 30 bridge near stclair is loaded with them

    Flood

A year ago was the beginning of a drought and heat wave that shut the river down for good fishing now it's the opposite. Guess I will never get to fish. Guess I will do dishes and laundry. The Riverpro sits Waiting for the walleye. I'm headed to Truman! Take care
  9. I have protected my tributary that runs through my property and if you keep the 1) hillbillies 2) slob city slickers 3) kids with no parental guidance 4) people from Illinois ? Believe it or not these idiots drive all the way to Lonedell for a bucket of ten inch bass You can have a nice fishery. My goggle eyes are the best I've seen in 15 years
  10. Put in at river round. Water 67 degrees. People camping and fishing everywhere. Ran down almost to Moselle then up above bruns bridge. Caught 2 20" walleye. Nice white and a lot of dink smallies.
  11. Put in at 5am ran down to dredge hole.
  12. She looking real good around red horse access for all types of boating floating or whatever. Looking to start fishing for walleye this week. I will update. I'm hoping to see lots of new walleye and white bass that have swam up during all the high water. I think they come up from the Mississippi. What's the opinions or thoughts on that? Lets hear it. You won't hurt my feelings.
  13. We got another little push of water around Stclair area. Brought the Little Meramec up 3' at my house. Really starting to be a bummer with all this high water. Guess I'm gonna go put lines in and forget about rod and reel for another weekend. I'm sure it's looking pretty way up by Sullivan but
  14. Amen on that !
  15. Can I have that please
  16. Little advice on the whites and hybrids would be appreciated.
  17. I ran down below golf course and checked a couple creek mouths for temperature variables and I seen shad. Tomorrow morn I will throw net and give report. Dude who was catching a cat every cast had night crawlers He was running up to line dropping a giant glob of worms down and drifting with a bottom bouncer
  18. Well if you want catfish get your butt up here. Crappie real good on the chunk rock. Had two big wipers get off at the boat and no whites. Actually the wipers broke me off at the boat. Neither was over 5 lb but they surprised me on my crappie rig
  19. I will let you know. My boat is chock full of everything you could think of
  20. I talked to the Dam bait shop and she said its catfish crazy right now. A guy bank fishing with big swim bait caught 2 big stripers on slow side and everyone is getting spoonbill below bridge oh and I ain't cussing. It's the Dam Bait shop
  21. Headed down Friday morn. Any info would be great. Fishing for whatever? Snagging is not out of the question either so I will run with any info
  22. Put in at thirty bridge yesterday about 8 after being rained out from work. Ran up to state park hitting at least ten spots on way. Zero not even a smallie. Stopped at my farm by red horse on way back My buddy and I pulled a double on gobblers and decided to switch to crappie fishing below 30 bridge in dredge ponds Zero. What the heck. Went back today after crappie and figured it out. The males were 1 foot from the bank and the females were a little further out. Caught enough for supper before the phone calls sent me scrambling back to the office. River was 60 degrees. Dredge ponds 65
  23. Does that mean its over ? If so what now. I didn't even make one trip. It's a long drive for me. Sympathy.
  24. Anybody ? Bueller. Beuller. Bueller.
