    I did really good yesterday. Today I didn't catch a fish.

    Water 40 degrees. 17" smallie was biggest. Good numbers for a one hour trip. Seen two big stabbed and dead bass. Giggers.

    That bamboo is to my knowledge Missouri cane. Supposedly it used to grow on all the high banks. My old school teacher mr Kramme owns that farm where it's growing. 2 winters ago I seen a group of 8 swans flying down the river. What a sight.

    I would have thought in that area there would be fish covering the bottom? Did u see any interesting fish species? You know what I mean.

    That poor swan lost it's mate this fall. I like that spot I'm surprised you haven't seen the swans before. Usually they are upstream 1/2 mile in the big slough. That sounded like some good fishing!!! See you on the river real soon. There is several gigging boats right now below my house.

    In my office I keep a revolving ozark stream ecosystem. I'm always looking for that oddball minnow to add. Just when I get it all perfect I go and add a predator and there goes the neighborhood. I swear I spend 10 hours a week staring at my tank. . Mature stone rollers by far the coolest characters. Dace minnows remind me of miniature pike.

    I have a walk in cooler so this is easy for me but I hang all deer 14 days at 38 degrees. I skin em and hang em one more day then butcher. I usually donate my does to the less fortunate. All mature bucks and old does I keep for my family. Salt and pepper. Never had a tough with this technique. I cook my steaks fast and hot and leave em bloody. Roasts cook slow and steady on the wood stove in a Dutch oven.

    Al, that's some cold water. It was 50 yesterday here on meramec. 48 down at Fenton this morn. Side note, caught a really big spot this morn. Let him go at ramp though.

    I was somewhere below times beach about a month back and caught nearly every species that eats The water had not went to winter mode yet though. I can't post the pictures still haven't figured it out. Please don't give me advice on it either. One day I will sit by the wood stove and tinier with it. Kinda starting to wish I didn't hunt so much I'm ready to fish. January 16 is right around the corner.

    Just got in. Very few people have experienced the smallmouth bite like it is right now. It's so good I switched to soft plastics to actually target them. Good grief they are crazy The water is so low I wouldn't try it if I was you.

    Ha!!! No. I usually do pull with a silver 4 runner but I switched to my Chevy truck. I was on the river Saturday. And Sunday. I'm about done fishing but the chances of a really big smallie are good now. I've seen 16 to18 inchers caught last 3 trips out. I didn't catch them but the guys were with me. I'm trying a whole bunch of of the wall tactics for fun.

    I just got in from river. Big morn with nearly all species accounted for. No catfish Walleye are hot as well as spots and smallies- all in same water. Largemouth and crappie hot in other water 5 12 to 14" slabs on one root wad

    When I was a kid the local pond had em in it. It was fun watching bass murder the bait balls of bullhead fry I put them in a exclusive big bass pond I had and I never seen bait balls cause they got murdered so fast. Kids can't hardly take em off the hook They bite and there fins are very dangerous

    Well..... Here's a good pond question. Should bullheads be stocked as a forage fish?

    Bluegill bass catfish--- blah blah blah. Boring. My new lake has had a year to breed millions of minnows trophy size crappie is my ultimate goal. If I can keep bluegill and bass out it will be a perfect lake. I've experimented with many new ponds and lakes I've had built. The most important thing is to give it a year with baitfish only. Then stock your preferred fish. If it's channel cat just throw em in as soon as pond is full of water and start feeding them.

    The bio told me not to put crappie in my ten acre lake ? Not too sure I'm on board with all their fancy ideas.

    I stock gizzard shad in my lakes. They make for a never ending supply of food. The bass grow huge. Try 6" to 8" swim baits I put flatheads and blues all over 30 lbs to help combat the crappie I never worry about the shad. I just stocked my brand new lake with them. Along with crappie walleye and hybrid whites.

    I've never been a fan of posting my properties. Bit of an eye sore. If you don't know who's land your on, your trespassing. Unfortunately even a ( well trained dog ) could run off onto someone else's land and get into mischief. Now you have problems. My dog did and got himself kilt. Oh well Move on Idiots shooting guns are a bummer.

    I've seen good times go bad cause someone had to bring their dog to the creek or river.
