  1. Be careful around water with that ska brewing beer...it doesn't float as we found out on LOTO this summer...wasted about a 6 pack of them because people couldn't catch!!
  2. It really is amazing how much these things cost...I just don't get it...When I was younger I used a 5wt 8'6" Shakespeare fly rod I got at Grandpa Pidgeons (see if anyone knows what that place is) for like $20 that I caught a lot of fish on for probably 10-15 years. I used that rod up until about maybe 6 years ago when my mom passed away and I acquired her St. Croix 7wt 8'6" rod. I catch just as many fish on that rod. Does it cast a little better? You betcha...Is it worth the $120 more that my mom paid for the St. Croix over the Shakespeare? Probably not...It's all in the way the fisherman uses it and presents the fly to the fish...
  3. +1 On the other hand, the first time someone that has cemented their boots steps on a slippery rock and busts their butt it might teach them a lesson for trying to get around the law...heh...
  4. Yep, that's what they were saying yesterday too... http://ozarkanglers.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=30523&pid=208430&st=0&#entry208430 http://ozarkanglers.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=30517 And about a month ago too http://ozarkanglers.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=30070&hl=felt&st=0
  5. I would think that the whole sealing the felt with contact cement or Shoe Goo would pretty much render them useless and nullifies why someone would use felt soles in the first place...I bet that rubber cement is slicker than KY on a tile floor if you step on a slick moss covered rock in the stream...

  7. Yep, that book is a good book... It is a shame though that a lot of the access points noted are not available anymore, especially on nice streams like Indian Creek in Franklin county near St Clair...Lots of purple paint down there now...
  8. 161 games later and it all comes down to one last game to decide things... Amazing isn't it?
  9. Uh...what's with the music....heheh I didn't see no rump shakin...
  10. I think that people are just ignorant to the fact that these streams are something special and are even better, great fisheries holding wonderful fish to catch. Point in case, I was floating the Huzzah not long ago and got down to near HV resort and caught the smallie in my picture. Released the fish and floated down near where some yayhoos were swimming, only to hear a guy say, "Was that a big bass? I didn't even know there were any fish in this here river, let alone big uhn's like that!" All the while in my head I knew he was also saying "I thought this place was just for swimmin and drinkin!"
  11. Knew you should have taken me Bassmaster...I would have shown you how to catch them...
  12. Just take the seats to a good upholstery shop and they should be able to put new foam and material on them...shouldn't be too much for just regular vinyl covers...
  13. Love the Huzzah... I would have been going down there today if I didn't have to go to the doctor with my wife and have to have my car damage appraised...looks like it'll be a great day for some smallie fishing...

That thing has a huge tail...
  15. As long as a small jon boat only has a trolling motor on it, it also doesn't need to be registered... **edit** Eh, my bad, it is just if it's only rowed or paddled that it doesn't need to be registered...
  16. Roaring River State Park: 58 degrees, the water is clear, normal and low; use 2 lb. test or lighter; fishing has been very good early in the day, late in the evening and in shady spots during the day; dry fly fishing is excellent right now; cheese yellow, white fluorescent, orange and brown colors in plastic eggs and worms working well; black, brown, olive and white spinners working well; small crankbaits are working well; marabou and micro jigs are good; olive, white, black/yellow and tan are good; in Zone 3: nightcrawlers, minnows and corn, white, orange or fluorescent yellow Power Bait paste is working well. (Report made on 9/14/2011)
  17. Just caught a 2lbs/2oz LMB at my local park on a Sammy 100 in chartruese shad. Can't wait to try this thing on a smally stream. Not sure if I'll get a chance yet this year or not. My weekends are quickly booking up.
  18. Just saw that on Facebook and was going to post it up too...
  19. Maybe it's the angle of that picture, but that doesn't look like a smallmouth with the markings it has. It has a red eye like a smallmouth, but looks more like a goggle-eye/rock bass...
  20. ^---- Really...who would have thunk that Iowa had waters like those streams...I thought all Iowa had to offer were steers and, well uh, you know...
  21. Whew, needs some focus...
  22. I think you'd need to put in a little more than a penny a day. There are only 182 days until march 12th. It would me more around $0.50/day after taxes/shipping for an $80 pair of boots.
  23. Ok, these things are fun....Stopped by BPS after work tonight to pick up a 100 in Chart Shad, then went to the local park pond just up the street to try it out...Only had about 1/2 hour to fish and caught 3 LMB in that time, the largest being 1lbs/10oz, which is pretty good size for that pond. No super big explosive strikes, but when they hit it, it was gone and it was pretty easy to set the hook. I did notice that they don't like getting moss or any kind of debris on them. That pond has a lot of surface weeds and moss and it made the Sammy lose all of it's action with the littlest bit of moss on the hooks. Can't wait to try it out at my sister-in-law's private lake in Columbia this weekend where I'm sure they'll tear it up since no one really fishes it, and I know there are a lot of 4lbs+ LMB in there just waiting for me...
  24. They have a "When"...it goes into effect March 1, 2012. No "Where" has been determined outside the trout parks officially though. (according to MDC's Facebook page)
  25. It's really hard to believe that something that looks so simple as those lures cost so much... At least they aren't like an expensive deep diving crank bait that has a chance to get hung up in non-visible underwater brush with the chance of losing it so easily... I've been practicing my WTD on a local park lake lately with a Spro frog...still don't quite have the knack of it yet as it usually just bobs up and down as it comes towards me...
