  2. Think I'm going with this. We're moving hopefully August 2nd so I don't have much time to change my mind anyways.
  3. I'm game for another year. -Bob
  4. One word of caution on her plans is to compare the supplies lists to the cut lists. She'll tell you to buy 8' boards then have you cut two feet off of all of 'em.
  5. Returning to the gold standard isn't exactly some perfect solution, no matter how much Ron Paul would have you believe. I'll choose a fiat currency over being held hostage by the mining industry, not to mention the environmental ramifications.
  6. Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize that we can't eat money
  7. The one thing I'd verify is if they have a warranty. Looking on their site I don't see one but I could be glancing right over it.
  8. Everything is sold, will ship on Monday. Thanks all!
  9. Ross is sold and paid for, the Redington is still available. Thanks, -Bob
  10. Ross says 7-9, but I'd say 6-9. I used it with an 8 wt bass line.
  11. Received a lot of pm's but no payers yet so these are still available. -Bob
  12. Have two more reels that I don't have a need for, basically the big brothers to the other two I just sold. First up, a Ross Flystart 4, used for one season maybe a dozen times, $35 shipped Secondly, a Redington Crosswater 7/8/9 used a half dozen times, $20 shipped My ebay feedback Paypal only, no gift payments. My paypal address is rfd515 at gmail dot com Thanks, -Bob
  13. Everything is SOLD.
  14. The VersaPack and Crosswater sold almost immediately last night. I got a lot of replies on the Ross and believe I have replied to them all. My paypal address is rfd515 at gmail dot com. It will go to whoever pays first. No cash, no checks, no gift payments via paypal. Thanks, -Bob
  15. Cleaning out of few things in the process of moving. I have a used once, Maxpedition Jumbo VersiPack that I received as a gift. It's a great pack, I just have too much sentimental attachment to my Patagonia so that's what I always reach for when running out the door. $40 shipped ($99 retail, $72 on ebay) Next up, a Ross Flystart 2 reel, purchased last season and maybe used half a dozen times. I'll throw in a 5wt Rio Mainstream line that's also barely used so you'd just need backing for a full setup. $25 shipped Lastly, a Redington Crosswater 4/5/6 reel spooled with backing and a Cortland 6 wt. sinking tip fly line. The reel was maybe used a dozen times and I'm pretty sure the line is brand new $20 shipped. Payment via paypal. My ebay feedback Any questions you can pm me or email me at rfd at gmail dot com. Thanks, -Bob
  16. Take this as my complete personal opinion and not a jab. That's not my intention but I don't know of a way to say this without it sounding 'holier than thou.' In my opinion, when hunting game, you shouldn't need or take multiple consecutive shots in short order on any animal. If you need to rip off multiple shots at an animal, I don't think you should've shot at it in the first place. Realistically, if you shoot at say a deer, what are the odds that your second shot or shots thereafter are going to be a respectful hit on the animal? I treat squirrel's and small game the same way. I may hunt them with a 10/22 but my goal is one good, clean shot, I'm not going to rely on the fact that I can rip off 10. Again, this is just how I hunt and my view, no disrespect intended.
  17. I'm an avid hunter as well as a multiple gun owner and I have no issue with them banning semi auto, high caliber, rifles as well as high capacity magazines. If you don't need it for hunting then I don't see why it's a big deal if they're banned. I don't think this will necessarily stop mass shootings but I doubt it will hurt. The NRA, as well as a lot of citizens, that think the constitution should allow you to own whatever weapon(s) you want seems pretty silly. Instead of everyone interpreting the constitution to suit their own means and ends, why not just decide as a country what we think addresses the issues but isn't over-bearing? Seems pretty simple to me.
  18. We made the rash decision to drive down to Destin next weekend, any tips for a first timer? We're staying across the hwy from Fuller Lake so my plan was to take the car in the mornings and explore TopSail Hill State Park on foot. We're only gonna be there for three days so I have to make the time count. I'll strictly be fly fishing and am bringing an 8' single hander and my 12' spey rod. Since I don't know a lot of what to expect I'm bringing a lot of standard saltwater patterns (crazy charlies, gotchas, crabs, and clousers) as well as my standard bass flies for any ponds/lakes I happen upon. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks, -Bob
  19. This is a pretty good article on hypothermia: http://www.outsideonline.com/outdoor-adventure/As-Freezing-Persons-Recollect-the-Snow--First-Chill--Then-Stupor--Then-the-Letting-Go.html One of the more interesting facts: "One of Europe's worst weather disasters occurred during a 1964 competitive walk on a windy, rainy English moor; three of the racers died from hypothermia, though temperatures never fell below freezing and ranged as high as 45."
  20. I think you're more or less forced to use fluorocarbon in the tropics because mono breaks down pretty quickly in the high uv and heat. Personally, I just use Maxima. I'm cheap and if it's good enough for hardcore steelheaders than it's more than fine for me.
  21. In case you ever want to check flows before heading out: http://waterdata.usgs.gov/mo/nwis/uv/?site_no=06893150&PARAmeter_cd=00065,00
  22. Looks to be a great pattern for just about everything. http://www.headhuntersflyshop.com/wp/archives/12088 Eyes, lead, mono, ice dub, ice wing fiber
  23. Even if the pic is fake, considering there was one in Chesterfield last year, would one in Branson really be that surprising? I guess I don't see what would be so unbelievable.
  24. Idk about local, this is where I get em normally: http://www.bluequillangler.com/Products/Eyes-and-Beads/Fish-Skulpin-Heads#.UKRcfOTLRS4
