  1. I have 2 interviews down in the Springfield area this week! My buddy said I can already move in with him until my girlfriend finds a job down there so we could get our own place. We spend most of our weekends down there so I asked her why not just move down there? She said she would and I've been looking down there ever since. We would really like to get to the Branson area but the jobs aren't just down there. Basically it's one of my dreams to move down where I love to fish.
  2. I've been throwing a St. Croix imperial with the new lamson kronik. I like it a lot. I also have a couple redington rods with a redington and cabelas reel.
  3. Here's a picture of Lyndsey with a rainbow.
  4. Thanks again Phil for an awesome place to stay. And it was nice meeting everyone.
  5. This was my first winter trip down to Taneycomo and my girlfriends first trip there. We arrived Saturday afternoon and decided to put the boat in and dock it at Lilleys. She wanted to see the dam right away so we headed up in the truck to find out it was pretty crowded but it was nice out. So we decided to take the boat out and head above fall creek. I was fishing with my fly rod and she was throwing spoons, rooster tails and cranks. I caught several on a white jig and a cream colored one. She had a couple on but never landed one. It was getting dark out so we headed back and talked to a few people who said the were doing good with jigs also. Sunday morning came early for me. I woke up before sunlight to head on down solo (she wanted to sleep in) When I got down there no one else was there so I decided to get ready and wait for a little sunlight. Walked down and seen tons of trout rising so I put on a crackleback and caught several stripping. About every third cast I would have to dip the rod in the water because the guides were frozen. After I found out my fingers were freezing I decided it was time to fish with an indicator and tied on a chamois with a size 16 olive scud. Caught a couple more and only one on the scud. Headed back to Lilleys around 10 to take the boat out with Lyndsey and headed back up passing several boats. Went all the way up by the island and fished with zebra midges and was doing just alright so I went back to the white jig and did way better. Lyndsey only landed one on a black and olive jig. But it still felt like it got up to around 50 and sunny and it felt amazing. When we motored back down we seen 3 eagles which made the trip right there for her. Monday it was raining when I woke up so we decided to sleep in and head out around 10ish. I went to outlet #2 with just a chamois tied on with no indicator and tore them up. I caught 6 in 8 drifts including a nice 16" brown. Looking around I didn't see Lyndsey so I headed up to the dam figuring she would be throwing the cast master up there and as I rounded the bend she had one on. She told me that she already caught 3. So I watched her fish for a few minutes and seen her get snagged on a rock so I grabbed the rod and she picked up my fly rod and casted it out no more than 15' and caught her first brown in her life. Tuesday was our last day there and after we packed up and hooked the boat up it was already almost party time. We got down there to only find Duane there and he was just setting up and we all headed down to go fishing. Still fishing with the chamois and scud it was slower than Monday and she didn't hook up to anything. Duane went up to cook the tasty duck poppers as we went to outlet #1 and she caught the first fish of the "year" so she said a few times. Right after that I caught a nice size rainbow on the scud. It was about 1130 so we decided it was time to head back to the pavilion to meet up with people. She stayed up there for an hour and went back fishing as I stayed to visit. I went down there to go get her and she wanted that "1 more cast" so then about 10 minutes later she caught a rainbow and said she was ready to go. I said your okay on leaving with the last cast being a fish? She said yep so we went back to the pavilion to say our good byes. This was also my first weekend down there with a boat (except when Phil took me out) and was hoping they would be running water and we finally got 2 units on the last day! I have a couple pictures but I'm on the phone considering I haven't made it home quite yet. Some walleyes were calling my name.
  6. I saw this on YouTube and haven't seen it on the forum yet and thought it was pretty neat. http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=haiqFcIXTqs&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DhaiqFcIXTqs My uncle has a few suppressors and they don't sound too far off. Just his Yankees cost way more.
  7. That's pretty funny about the mule. Look up "happy face spider" and tell me spider aren't awesome.
  8. My girlfriend was telling me about this and I was amazed because my buddy accidentally ran one over and gave him a flat. I try not to run over anything even snakes. When I'm out squirrel hunting in Lonedell where copperheads are very common I won't even shoot them. I look at it they are out there to live and I'm invading their home. If I catch one by campsites where kids are there always that's a different story. At Bennett this year I killed one up by the showers and moved a few black snakes people were trying to kill. Always see people trying to kill the western water snakes at different streams too. Been bit by a few moving them before people kill them. I think snakes and spiders are amazing animals. Ticks on the other hand screw them. Burn em all!
  9. I've never ordered bass tackle online. I guess because if I run to basspro I get everything at employee price. Basspro = 40% off. This includes anything that has their logo even if another company makes it. A lot of other stuff is from 15-30% off. Gotta love friends in upper management. I even get guns at cost for most makes.
  10. That's pretty awesome. We got snow back home but not where I am at.
  11. Gator what cabin are you in? I'm at number 2
  12. Fishing was kinda of slow today but awesome weather. Couldn't beat it for a late December day. They were hitting the crackle back early this morning for me but it was chilly. Guides were freezing and my finger would have tons of ice on it. But still really fun.
  13. I'll see everyone down there that's going. Gator if you see a white ford ranger with a boat behind it on the side if the road stop. That's me lol
  14. I take it's bow mounted? Is the one you're bringing bow mounted? I meant I'll bring some kind of food I just don't know what yet.
  15. Sounds good Gator. I don't know what I'm going to bring yet but I'll be there with something. What's wrong with the trolling motor?
  16. Scroll down a little. The search part on the forum is pretty awesome here and gets a lot of help when I want to tie something.
  17. I'll be there from Saturday until Tuesday with the girlfriend. I want to take the boat but not for sure yet though.
  18. Congrats Eric. The fishing time will take a pretty good hit.
  19. I for sure like 2 strokes more than 4 strokes just due to the part of working on them is a lot easier. I use to race dirt bikes (Yamahas) and would be able to pull the top in less than 20 minutes. But the 4 stokes are so much better on gas and way more quiet but still the ease of a 2 stroke is so nice.
  20. That was pretty awesome actually. I do wonder how much that cost to make.
  21. Wish I could join you guys but I'll be out of town on a bow hunting adventure with a few buddies.
  22. I would want a bigger boat if I was going to fish downtown on the Mississippi. I caught a 70lb blue right below the alton dam on the shore. Only reeled in maybe 10 fish over 10lbs this year though. It wasn't the best year for cat fishing it seemed like.
  23. Harps wanna do some muzzleloader? Lol. Kinda would be hard to keep your mouth shut on that non-typical.
  24. When I fish Maramec I just go where there arn't crowds. It should be pretty empty if you go during the week. I love fishing the riffles because there isn't anyone there usually and a decent amount of fish. When you fish the river one bad drift can mess up the hole. In the park it's pretty easy though.
  25. Hmm. Somehow this year I have that whole week off. I should be down there for that weekend and until New Years unless the girlfriend doesn't come I can be down there all week.
