  1. I was at Bennett last weekend and fishing was a little slower except when I went into all the fast water areas using scuds and would tear them up. My girlfriend ended up catching a 2.5lber (21") on bottom of the spillway with a bubblebee roster tail. Was kinda surprised when she grabbed my attention because I figured it was just a small one.
  2. I would think it's cool to own one of those framed in pictures of trout stamps and the trout stamp in it from Missouri of course. I always see them in the state park resturants and always wanted one. I would prefer the 1988 stamp because that is the year I was born in and one of the coolest ones I've seen but will take any of them. I know most of them are limited to around 300 or so. Just a little something to go with my mounts and NWTF art and some deer pictures. Does anyone know where I can even buy these?
  3. I have a 17 acre 7 spring feed lake by my house that one of the springs is 95+ feet deep according to the deep finder. We are over populated with bass and bluegil and I pull out around 1500 10" bass and put them in other lakes for my co workers a year. That is still not enough! So if anyone here wants to go fishing with me and loves to eat largemouth tell me! (It's located in St. Louis County) My biggest bass out of the lake is a 10.4 (Which I was very surprised to get one that big out of that small of a lake) And I caught a bluegil when I was younger that weighed over 2lbs. I remember my dad was wondering if he should call conservation to see what the record at the time was but this was before the cell phone era (Well before everyone had one) Well if I got to design my own dream lake it would be about 30 acres and 50 feet deep. I would only put female bass in to keep the population in check and get big pretty quick. Of course I would put different types of shad in the lake.
  4. I usually never eat breakfast or lunch (everyday) and only eat dinner so I don't ever pack anything. If I do pack something it's a bottle of water and peanuts in the back of the vest. I thought this was a gun thread myself.
  5. Sweet! I can't wait for October for my 10 day vacation... Only if I can find some turkey hunting places in Taney county!
  6. Maybe a Redington RS2?
  7. I generally use a traditional fly vest however if it's going to be a super hot day I will use my minimal chest pack. I also have a nice cabelas rain jacket that is short so it doesn't get soaking wet when it rains and has two huge front pockets that will fit 4 boxes with the tipets. It's actually what I use in the winter months too because you can close off the sleeves and it doesn't let much water pass the wrist.
  8. I like late March when it's just a tad bit warmer. When your not fishing you are mushroom hunting! Few co workers have a group go out every year and most of their wives just mushroom hunt all weekend.
  9. I think the fish should be in the record but with a foot note on the record. Sucks he didn't buy a license when he was suppose too but rules are rules.
  10. Very nice. Never really have looked at Kansas as a fishing state. More mainly for their big bucks.
  11. Overall a good day. Was there by myself and I think I may be back down there again next Sunday. But might be coyote hunting Saturday evening in St. James so no rides probably.
  12. Welcome. Nice videos.
  13. Who wouldn't want to go? I mean High of 56 and low of 32 tomorrow. Looks like I'll be going by myself tomorrow.
  14. Welcome. You have several great spots to fish by you.
  15. I've stayed in the days inn at st James and its really good people. The motel in licking I think called sunrise is owned by my dads cousins last time I was there and of course they have always been super nice to us and give us unbeatable prices. I know they are pretty cheap all together though.
  16. Man I wish I had the extra cash to go there. Looks like a blast! But I guess I'll just get to fish MO and AR waters for now.
  17. I was thinking about going down for the day from the St. Louis area Sunday 1/22. As of now they say it's suppose to be 57 with the low of 45 partly cloudy but of course everyone knows it will change a 100 times before the actual day. I can drive my little 4 cyl focus or if we get more maybe someone has a mini van? I would be leaving around 5:30-5:45 from Overland. Anyone else in?
  18. Well your in a great state to bow hunt. I bow hunt right outside of Chanute, KS and a lot in Butler, MO. I think I'm skipping KS next season to go up to Iowa though. Didn't get anything this year in KS but shot a 21" Spread 8 last year out there.
  19. Looks like a lot of fun.
  20. It does seem like everyone loves to keep trout but nothing else. I only keep crappie and blue gill now out of private lakes that get hardly any fishing pressure. I am going to start keeping bass this year (Will be giving it away to anyone who wants it) because we have too many in our 17 acre lake. We also have a few rainbows but they only stick down by the spring and come up during the winter time. I have yet to ever catch one but when MDC came to shock it they floated up. So if anyone from the St. Louis area that needs some fish just give me a heads up. I will even let you come out to help me catch them.
  21. All my pictures are on my phone. I have a 72 Dodge Dart Swinger, an 07 Yamaha R6, 06 Yamaha R6, and a very fast 2000 ford focus stock for my trips! The swinger was my grandpa's and I got it when he passed away. It has 82k miles on it and is completely restored. I got to help him with this when I was younger and I actually sold it about 2 years ago and recently rebought it from the guy I sold it too for cheaper than what I sold it and he only put 6,000 miles on it.
  22. http://gopro.com/products/?gclid=CPvr2LCPsK0CFc3DKgod71_NoA - Here ya go Murdoc. They are pretty cool cameras we use them on our motorcycles for racing and they are very durable. I crashed at 105 last June and it just bounced around and still works great! They get pricey but awesome toys to have. When we do winter float trips we put them on the paddles also.
  23. I won't be able to make it but I will be down there Monday - Thursday. Fishing and hunting some private land in Christian county. I wish I could make it but have prior plans. So if anyone is heading down early I can meet up with them.
  24. I read that question wrong. I cut it off about 4-6" before the ears. All I do is take a knife cut around the meat and then hack saw it until I start hearing a lot of pops then I start twisting the head until it pops off. Just don't do what my uncle did and drop the head and break an antler off on one of his. The taxidermist was able to fix it at least. Next time you shoot a mounter send me a message on the forum. I'll come over and help being we are both in StL. I had a group of girls walk by and they thought it was the most nasty thing ever
  25. I usually do it right at the ribs. I look at it this way. Better to give the taxidermy too much than not enough. They really only need right past the legs though. You can tell where I started in this picture.
